RE: Hard days are a light rain coming down around my head - Sunjata - 11-17-2025 Soaking up the sun for as long as it takes to feel the real sting of just how much he’d ruined the mood, the Flood glances over toward her when she sinks off the stone to gather her things. “[say]Yeah.. Take some time beforehand and then you can get back to work.[/say]” It comes out as more of a comment than a suggestion, distracted as Sunjata glances over toward the rest of the sun and the trickle of the water that drifts through the creek that cuts through part of the Refuge. He sits up, then, drawing a leg up all shark bite scars and pink scar tissue. “[say]Sorry if I ruined the day you were having.[/say]” He offers out quietly before she leaves, just in case she thinks it’s all entirely her fault. “[say]It wasn’t you, if that helps.[/say]” Just the word itself that had brought up so much of a memory that he couldn’t stifle it down. But as he wraps an arm around the leg still lifted off the rock, he thinks better of it after a moment and slips off the towel he’d borrowed from her, rolling it up to approach her and offer it to her with a small smile, hoping to lighten the mood. RE: Hard days are a light rain coming down around my head - Colt - 11-17-2025 She doesn't look at him, not entirely, though he's there in her peripheral as she snaps her bra on next. The armor of some clothing feels like it gives her enough room to breathe a bit steadier, the feeling almost instant, even if it's nothing but cotton and not like it'd been his eyes doing much of the roaming. Still, she feels the barriers slipping into place, and they provide something. She doesn't remark on the comment that slips out almost like an order. Doesn't need to, when she's already decided to assign it to herself, although her lips twist down a touch. Would time be enough? Distance? Might as well try, before she really jumps out of her skin the next time they talk. She can hear the softness he puts into the words. The apology, the lack of confidence she's inspiring in the praise she'd just been lavishing. She can't help it though, not right now, not entirely. She does sigh a touch though, a disappointed sound as her limbs streak through her shirt and pull it on. [say]"Day was already ruined,"[/say] she assures him, gaze flicking up then down again. [say]"Just hoped maybe you'd make it better."[/say] She doesn't mean it as a slight, just the truth of the matter, however it ends up coming across. With the rest of her clothes on, she steps into her boots and pulls her hair out with a twist. [say]"Wasn't you either,"[/say] she says quieter now, all her armor back on, but the breathing room still isn't enough. [say]"A good reminder though, that I not forget myself with you."[/say] That they're not so close, not so friendly, as to be the sort to comfort each other through hardships or even be great at noticing it in each other. Whatever comfort she hoped to find in him, it's not there, not today anyway. She takes the towel and tucks it under her arm, trudging over to her horse who had wandered over to the egg while grazing. She leans down to pick it up too, just to keep from the damn horse getting egg on its legs, and swings up into the saddle. [say]"I'll see ya around, Sunjata."[/say] She urges the horse into something quick to depart, stuffing her egg and towels away as they ride, sinking into the familiarity of running like it could still save her.
