RE: uno reverse - Isla - 01-25-2026 [say]"That would be lovely, yes,"[/say] Isla says with a grin, blinking a few more times before trusting herself to gaze back across at Remi. She gives his hand another warm squeeze and then releases it, taking up her cup of tea for a slow sip. [say]"Though it won't be too long before we might have some new additions to our tea parties,"[/say] she points out. [say]"And while they might not be life-changing revelations, babies do like to throw things."[/say] Which could be just as chaotic. As for the cows and whatever she might be able to do to help out, Isla flashes Remi a playful smile. [say]"Maybe I'll see if I can put together some bundles of fruit and alfalfa for you to bribe the herd,"[/say] she suggests, though as the Bastion's gaze dip down to her bump, her own follows automatically. [say]"Things are progressing very well from a medical perspective, if not a lot faster than expected,"[/say] she says, tilting her head and putting a hand to her belly. [say]"Honestly, I'd be surprised if she doesn't make an appearance before the end of the season."[/say] Even just a few weeks ago the thought would have terrified her, but it's funny how you learn to live and evolve with the hand you're dealt. [say]"Right now it suits me just fine - she's always kicking up a storm and I could really do without it."[/say] RE: uno reverse - Remi - 01-25-2026 Remi’s grin turns impish at once, his brows bouncing as if he’s been waiting for exactly this opening. [say]"Oh, that part I already have covered,"[/say] he says lightly, leaning back in his chair. Before she can ask what he means, Remi begins to partially shift. From his sides, several tentacles unfurl, smooth and controlled, looping forward to cradle an invisible weight against his chest with surprising gentleness. He adjusts them instinctively, one supporting, another bracing, the whole tableau unmistakably domestic despite the absurdity of it. [say]"See?"[/say] he says with a boyish grin, pride and humour tangled together. A heartbeat later the magic recedes, the tentacles dissolving as neatly as they appeared, leaving him exactly as he was before, save for the pleased curve of his smile. At her suggestion about bribing the cows, he laughs softly and shakes his head. [say]"If we do that, they will simply come running every time they see Ronin or me,"[/say] he points out, fond resignation colouring his tone. [say]"I suspect they are clever enough to remember such things."[/say] He considers it a moment longer, then shrugs. [say]"If I wraith about a bit, that should keep them at a respectful distance, even if animals are rarely as frightened of ghosts as people are."[/say] A pause, and then another small smile. [say]"That, or Ronin being a dragon. That usually convinces most creatures to rethink their choices."[/say] Her words draw his attention back to her fully, brows lifting as he repeats them quietly, [say]"Before the end of the season?"[/say] He inhales, the weight of it settling with a mix of awe and careful concern. [say]"Do you have everything ready at home? For when she decides she's bored of using you as a trampoline?"[/say] RE: uno reverse - Isla - 01-26-2026 [say]"Oh?"[/say] There's curiosity in Isla's voice rather than skepticism, because she knows Remi Taliesin very well indeed, and no matter how inventive his solution, she's sure it will work out perfectly. Even so, at the appearance of writhing tentacles cradling and rocking and protecting an invisible baby, Isla's laughter is immediate and delighted, and she nods her open approval. [say]"If you have any spare I might be asking for assistance as well,"[/say] she says, sipping at her tea again and failing to stop her smile growing at the idea of being out for the afternoon with their children babbling and playing between them. It's as domestic as it is unbelievable, but evidently there are still a few obstacles to get through first, if the cows are anything to go by. [say]"Ah, I will have to think of something else then,"[/say] Isla says with a good-natured wince. [say]"But you're right, of course - between the two of you I imagine the wildlife, tame or otherwise, will know to keep a very polite distance."[/say] His concern is something he wears well and Isla recognises it from her own expression - and Ever's - when they realised how soon they'd be parents. [say]"We're almost all set,"[/say] she assures him. [say]"Ever is building the crib and we've made space for her when she arrives. She's got clothes, blankets, toys..."[/say] Isla laughs. [say]"If anything I might have gone a bit overboard. I haven't started nesting quite yet at least."[/say] RE: uno reverse - Remi - 01-27-2026 Remi’s smile lingers on Isla, soft and unguarded, the sort that comes only from years of shared history layered with new, unexpected joy. For all the ways their lives have tangled and untangled over time—friends, something more, something less, and stretches of nothing at all—sitting here now, speaking so easily about how their children might grow up alongside one another, settles warmly in his chest such that the lopsided and boyish smile he offers her has his dimples deepening alongside. [say]"Mm, I think overboard is probably best,"[/say] he says with a gentle chuckle, tipping his head. [say]"It is far better to have too much than too little and find yourself scrambling for something you wish that you had."[/say] He reaches up to scratch at the back of his neck, wrinkling his nose slightly as a thought occurs to him. [say]"You know, for all of our children,"[/say]he adds, amusement and disbelief mingling in his eyes, [say]"this will be the first one that Ronin and I have actually planned for in a way that gives us time to think ahead."[/say] His brows lift, eyes widening just a fraction as the absurdity of that settles in. RE: uno reverse - Isla - 01-27-2026 [say]"You know, you're completely right. And it's your job as my friend to validate me anyway, so I appreciate your dedication to the role."[/say] Grinning, Isla raises her teacup in a small toast, before refilling it from the pot and stirring in a little more honey. [say]"I was considering that we might need to find somewhere else to live,"[/say] she continues conversationally. [say]"The apartment above the clinic is perfect for work, but it isn't exactly a family home."[/say] Then again, there are much worse places to raise a child, so maybe the Remedy is just letting her imagination run rampant about it. [say]"What do you think?"[/say] Her eyebrows raise in unexpected realisation as Remi remarks about the little sprout they're tending to out in King's End, and Isla's laughter is surprised but kind. [say]"That's kind of exciting, isn't it?"[/say] She beams. [say]"You get to do all those things together for the first time, even though you've been together for over a decade. You can make a nursery, pick out baby clothes, choose toys... gods, I suppose you won't even know what you're having until they... bloom?"[/say] RE: uno reverse - Remi - 01-27-2026 Remi laughs, spreading his hands in mock surrender. [say]"It may have taken me more than ten years to finally understand my role,"[/say] he says lightly, seaglass eyes bright with amusement, [say]"but I believe I have it now."[/say] A grin follows, easy and pleased, as if he’s quite content with the conclusion. At the mention of moving, his brows lift and that grin turns instantly boyish and mischievous. [say]"If you would like to be neighbours,"[/say] he offers without missing a beat, [say]"Ronin and I would happily build you a houseboat."[/say] The idea clearly delights him for a moment longer before his expression softens into something more thoughtful. [say]"In all seriousness, though, it is probably a good idea."[/say] He tilts his head then, hesitation edging into his voice as he adds, [say]"So...are you and Ever planning on…?"[/say] His brows lift meaningfully as his gaze flicks down to her ringless left hand. Remi takes another sip of his iced tea, letting the condensation cool his fingers. [say]"It is exciting,"[/say] he admits, glancing back at her, [say]"though I think Ronin and I are trying to be careful not to make it seem as though we are more excited for this child than the others."[/say] His nose wrinkles slightly at the thought. [say]"Perhaps Mateo will be able to tell whether it is a boy or a girl just by looking at the plant. To me, it still looks like an entirely ordinary sprout."[/say] RE: uno reverse - Isla - 01-28-2026 [say]"Experience can only come with time,"[/say] Isla says with a playful wrinkle of her nose. [say]"The important thing is you got there eventually. And you are doing a stellar job."[/say] Warmth threads through her words as they leave her lips, the Remedy smiling down into her tea as if she might be able to glimpse the past and all of its issues within. [say]"Neighbours?"[/say] she echoes, looking back up at Remi's suggestion, her laughter easy and immediate. [say]"Much as I think that would be a lot of fun, Ever is an aviator, so if we were to have a houseboat I suspect it would need to be the sort that flies,"[/say] she says. [say]"...But you're right. I'll bring it up once the baby is here, I think. Right now everything is overwhelming enough just getting ready for her, without thinking about lifting it all and moving it somewhere else."[/say] Besides, it's not like their daughter will need oodles of space immediately. The ellipsis that follows the Bastion's next question is one that brings the colour flushing back to Isla's cheeks, and almost self-consciously she covers her left hand with her right. [say]"It has never come up,"[/say] she confesses. [say]"Back in Northaven it would have been expected long before we even considered a family, especially for a duchess. But I bucked convention even then."[/say] Smirking, she shrugs her shoulders. [say]"So no, we aren't planning on it. But if he asked, I know what my answer would be."[/say] Seeming happy to let the conversation drift back to Remi's expanding family, Isla takes a sip of her tea and nods empathetically. [say]"To be fair, Mateo was only little when Flora and Enzo were born, so I doubt he'd remember. And they're all old enough now to be excited with you."[/say] Every one of them adults in their own right. [say]"If anything, you could be asking them for help to prepare. Especially if Mateo can tell you what you're expecting."[/say] RE: uno reverse - Remi - 01-29-2026 Remi chuckles softly and nods. [say]"Very wisely said,'[/say] he agrees, lifting his brows as if to underline the point. At the mention of a flying houseboat, he waves a hand with easy confidence. [say]"Oh, that would be no problem at all,"[/say] he says lightly before his expression shifts just a fraction, the playfulness easing into something more grounded. [say]"But honestly, if there is anything Ronin or I can do, all you need to do is ask."[/say] He tilts his head, nose wrinkling slightly. [say]"I think we have more time than you do, at least. We have been... fertilizing the sprout,"[/say] he adds, amused and faintly baffled all at once. [say]"So I honestly do not know."[/say] His gaze lingers as colour warms Isla’s cheeks, noting the instinctive way she covers her left hand, his sea-glass eyes lifting back to her face without pressing. Surprise flickers briefly, then settles, and his voice remains soft when he asks, [say]"Would you want to marry him?"[/say] There’s no judgement there, only curiosity shaped by care and years of being in the Remedy's orbit. At her final words, Remi exhales and nods again, thoughtful. [say]"As always, you are right."[/say] He lifts his glass of iced tea in a small, appreciative salute toward her before taking another sip. RE: uno reverse - Isla - 01-30-2026 [say]"You would say something like that."[/say] Isla laughs, though she can't help but concede that point to Remi; for a couple of demigods, it really would be no problem at all for them to whip something like that up. [say]"When I have the discussion with Everest, you'll be the first person I call on if we need any help,"[/say] she promises. [say]"Providing you really do have more time than I do, of course. I'm hardly going to knock on your door and ask for help moving when you've also got a newborn in your arms."[/say] Still, at least they'll be able to celebrate and commiserate together - and no, Isla has never considered in her wildest dreams that this would be something they might get to experience at the same time. It has a gentle smile spreading across her face, one that grows playful at Remi's curious question. [say]"I just said I know what my answer would be,"[/say] she reminds him. [say]"That answer being yes, Remi."[/say] You know, in case it wasn't obvious by their already dating, living together, and having a baby. Still, she's quite content to let that faux pas slide under the triumph of being right, and she salutes him in return with her teacup before taking another sip and setting it down. [say]"So how is Ronin doing with it all?"[/say] she asks in a softer tone. [say]"He must be excited."[/say] RE: uno reverse - Remi - 01-31-2026 Remi laughs, the sound boyish and bright, and shakes his head. [say]"I have more than enough tentacles to hold a newborn,"[/say] he assures her easily, [say]"and still have plenty left over."[/say] At her clarification, he rolls his eyes with gentle exasperation, lifting a hand as if to rewind the moment. [say]"No, no,"[/say] he says, still smiling, [say]"that was not what I was asking. I did not ask what your answer would be, Isla. I asked whether you would want him to ask."[/say] The corner of his mouth quirks as he raises a brow in her direction. He chuckles to himself and takes another sip of his iced tea, condensation slick beneath his fingers, before setting the glass down again. [say]"Ronin has not stopped glowing since we made the decision,"[/say] he says fondly, voice softening. [say]"I am not entirely certain whether celestial light actually helps things grow,"[/say] he adds with a small, amused shrug, [say]"but our little sprout has certainly been getting plenty of it."[/say] RE: uno reverse - Isla - 02-01-2026 [say]"However many arms and tentacles you have,"[/say] Isla says with a smirk, [say]"I think a newborn is capable of reducing even you to sleep deprivation. But... thank you, really. I'll keep it in mind."[/say] Sighing and relaxing into her seat, the roll of Remi's eyes has her tilting her head, only for a pretty flush to colour her cheeks at his clarification. [say]"Ah. Right."[/say] She laughs. [say]"Well... I really don't know right now."[/say] The admission is lighthearted rather than anything worrisome, Isla gesturing at her belly for clarification. [say]"I feel as though we almost skipped that step, you know? Maybe once the baby is here I'll be begging for some romantic proposal though - who knows."[/say] For now, certainly, Ever is the man she loves and the father of her child, and that is much more than Isla ever expected to get. But the conversation wheels around to Ronin and his endless glowing, and the Remedy beams her amusement across the table. [say]"I'm no botanist myself, but I can't imagine it's doing any harm,"[/say] she agrees. [say]"Will you be moving up to King's End while you wait for it to... er, bloom?"[/say] RE: uno reverse - Remi - 02-04-2026 Remi almost blushes at that, the colour rising warmly beneath his unshaven cheeks as his dimples deepen despite him. [say]"I am looking forward to it,"[/say] he admits softly, a touch sheepish and entirely sincere. He lifts a brow as she explains, nodding as her gesture draws attention to her stomach, his smile turning crooked with understanding. [say]"Just because you are not doing things in the ordinary way,"[/say] he says gently, [say]"does not mean you do not deserve everything you want."[/say] His eyebrows rise with deliberate emphasis, knowing that Isla was not necessarily one to fuss. At her question about King’s End, he tips his head from side to side thoughtfully. [say]"Yeah, I do not think so either."[/say] A faint crease appears between his brows as he adds, [say]"Though I have been watching for signs of sun damage on the leaves, but so far it seems content."[/say] He exhales and shrugs. [say]"We have been staying mostly in Meadowreach even though there does not seem to be much we can actually do."[/say] A wry smile touches his mouth then. [say]"Still, the thought of the highland cows wandering too close—even with the little fence—or someone deciding it is a particularly nice-looking plant and plucking it.."[/say] He shakes his head. [say]"That keeps us awake at night if we try to stay at home."[/say] RE: uno reverse - Isla - 02-05-2026 [say]"I am looking forward to it less, I think,"[/say] Isla says with a warm laugh, though she can't help but soften to see Remi flushed and quietly excited for both the easy and hard parts of his new addition. [say]"But I am eager to meet her. More and more everyday, now."[/say] Smiling down into her tea, she gives it a slow stir out of habit rather than necessity. [say]"To think - they might end up being friends."[/say] Who can say after all, especially if this is going to become a regular catch up. Flapping a hand at him as if to banish the sweetness of his words, Isla's grin somehow manages to be a little threatening. [say]"Enough,"[/say] she chides playfully. [say]"...But I appreciate you saying it. Hopefully once this hurdle is over,"[/say] the hurdle being the fact that she hasn't been able to see her toes in some time, [say]"I'll see how I feel about everything."[/say] She's never felt the need for a ring on her finger in previous relationships, but then again none of them had gotten this far without some irreversible conflict or tragedy. It's easier, anyway, to think of Remi and Ronin's little sprout up in Meadowreach, and Isla nods emphatic agreement. [say]"I would feel the same way,"[/say] she says. [say]"Let me know if you want me to send any care packages up there with all of Torchline's specialities, in case you're homesick."[/say] RE: uno reverse - Remi - 02-07-2026 A deeper blush creeps across Remi’s cheeks at that, dimples settling in as his smile slows into something softer, more awed. [say]"Gods,"[/say] he murmurs under his breath, the word carrying wonder rather than anything reverent. The idea takes root easily—her daughter and his child, growing up side by side, tangled in sand and sunlight and shared mischief—and it leaves him looking almost boyish as he lifts his gaze back to her. [say]"I hope so,"[/say] he adds quietly. After everything, it feels like a kindness the world might still allow. He lets the talk of rings drift away without resistance, nodding once in easy acceptance, and reaches for his glass to finish the last of his iced tea with a contented sigh. [say]"I will absolutely let you know,"[/say] he says warmly at her offer, already half-smiling at the thought of Torchline comforts finding their way east. Pushing his chair back, Remi rises and extends a hand toward her. [say]"If you are feeling up to it,"[/say] he asks gently, eyes bright with easy affection, [say]"might I tempt you with a walk along the beach?"[/say] |
