RE: [SE] once more into the breach - Seren - 07-23-2024

Looking up when Sah arrived, Seren gave him a quick smile in welcome. Scooting a bit closer as he sat down next to her, the barest touch of their knees helped steady her. Recognizing Talyson as well, his dragon was dignified with a long, scrutinizing stare by Umbra, before the Blue eventually huffed a tolerant puff of smoke and settled his big head in Seren's lap. If it was a touch possessive, she was too busy listening to Deimos and Remi to care.

[say]"What about questing to cleanse the Greatwood? Considering how rare the lilies are, I wonder if we can really rely on luck alone... even finding a single flower, while certainly most convenient, might take us seasons or even years."[/say] Asking anyone to fight the void head on was too much, but if there was another option that allowed those like herself to help, then Seren would welcome the opportunity.

RE: [SE] once more into the breach - Sunjata - 07-23-2024

He hadn’t intended to be so late, especially when it was in his backyard, basically. (But his writer was not paying attention apparently so rip.) Ahem, anyway, the darting approach of a blue macaw is all that’s seen initially, amongst the light shadow cast by his blue and yellow feathers.

Landing nearby the snack table, shifting into himself to try not to drag too much attention (look, he could have shown up as a dragon and really made it a point for people to notice he was late), he snags a snack precisely the kind he’s sure Ronin remembered he liked (and had packed accordingly), but it also offers him a chance to step up beside Melita, nodding to her quietly.

“[say]Sorry I’m late.[/say]” Comes his accented voice. “[say]What’d I miss?[/say]” He asks, before plopping the snack into his mouth, waiting for a quiet little TLDR from whomever was willing.

RE: [SE] once more into the breach - Ronin - 07-24-2024

Smirking, both at Remi's remark and at Sunjata's late arrival, alas the Knight will have to leave it to someone else to give the Flood the TLDR, because as he listens to Deimos's news, his blue eyes are already widening a fraction in realisation. [say]"Finding those flowers and reclaiming the void-touched areas might be even more important than we initially thought, based on what I found out from Vi."[/say]

Glancing around at the group, Ronin divulges all that he's been told in a quiet voice that hopefully still carries to the edges of the group. They might have been careful with their meeting location this time around, but the Knight doesn't kid himself by thinking they are ever truly safe. [say]"The only thing we can't do is a KQ because sike you already have to fight our way through Starfall to cleanse it,"[/say] he says, folding his arms across his chest.

[say]"Does anyone have any of these flowers, or know someone who does? If not, it does make sense to divide our efforts in scouring Frey's Breath and trying to claw back some of the Greatwood. As soon as one of those flowers is found, though, I think a group of us ought to try the island. My instinctive selection would be myself, Remi, Sunjata and Deimos - but I'm happy to hear arguments otherwise."[/say]

Ronin shares the critical plot info he got from Vi:

In order to create an area of safety within Starfall, you must obtain one of the following.

1. An item created via a Regional Quest with one of the Big Three gods. (This is similar to any RQs to create barriers against the void critters).
2. One (1) of Vi's Roses.
3. One (1) of Rae's Lilies.

These may be placed upon Starfall to create a 30ft x 30ft area where void creatures cannot enter. The Family will still be able to enter, but their abilities will not work. Once placed, the items cannot be moved again.

RE: [SE] once more into the breach - Talyson - 07-24-2024

Tal perked up when Sunjata showed up, giving his leader a bob of his head in greeting. He opened his mouth to answer--

And then shut it again with a click when the Flood went to stand with the Honeybee instead, swallowing back his words so as not to draw attention to himself. Instead he stayed quiet and listened with wide eyes to the news that was imparted. He nodded along with Seren's suggestion even though he was way more worried about the Feverlands at the moment, but the Roses seemed like they were going to be key to a lot of things.

Especially when Ronin shared Vi's words and the courier finally cleared his throat and spoke up - albeit quietly. "So... are y'thinkin' o' puttin' it around that bigass Void Crystal under th'island? T'try an' depower whatever's growin' inside it?" Obliviously skipping the pertinent bits about the fact that not everyone present had seen the same vision that some of them had.

RE: [SE] once more into the breach - Remi - 07-24-2024

Smirking boyishly at Sunjata, Remi lowers his chin to hide his grin somewhat as he continues to whittle, having already heard all about how Vi and Ronin's meeting had gone already.

[say]"I agree."[/say] He murmurs, of the Starfall group being Deimos, Remi, Ronin, and Sunjata. The Sword might be the only one of them without immortality, but the Bastion was confident he could ensure that it didn't matter. Glancing towards Talyson, Remi bites at the inside of his cheek as his head lolls uncertainly from side to side. [say]"Eventually."[/say] He hadn't had the dream, but of course he'd heard about it from his daughter and the others.

[say]"But I doubt if it'll be that quick. The island seemed...large, and even just looking at it, for it to exist the way it does, it has to be significantly larger beneath the water than it is on top."[/say] He explains as his head tilts further and he sucks on his teeth for a moment.

[say]"I'm not sure how far or how long it will take to get as far down to where your visions were."[/say]

RE: [SE] once more into the breach - Deimos - 07-24-2024

As he expected, the news caused ideas and information to spark forth, and he listened intently to the volleying rounds back and forth. The Greatwood potentially being freed and tackled first, alternative notions in questing for it initially, but then Ronin’s news from Vi had him listening and absorbing again. A different distinction and method to the madness in eventually winding their way through Starfall – something manageable rather than the sea and surge of apprehension. And while that wouldn’t absolve or cure all of the trepidation, it left something to bite into.

Placement of the flowers didn’t worry him so much with Starfall – not now, not when they didn’t have one, but considerations contorted through. [say]“I think it would benefit quite a few trying to find flowers simultaneously,”[/say] including those not represented here, as much as they wanted or were willing to spread the notices. [say]“If a certain amount want to quest for it, I do not see the issue,”[/say] but he wouldn’t have time, and probably those waging their efforts in the void infected isle wouldn’t either.

RE: [SE] once more into the breach - Melita - 07-24-2024

Ohohoho, so there were other things afoot. She snagged at a few more food items while she listened, wondering if she should bother glaring at Sah or Talyson, and in the end decided not to bother. Grabbing some other crackers, she waved at Sunjata to join her, despite past, odd conversations (and wondering how that knowledge would affect him here – or in Starfall apparently, as he was just volunteered).

But as he was late, she leaned over and filled him in on some quest items to reclaim lands. From there though, she had to pay attention to the other credentials. [say]“I can help with things,”[/say] she eventually offered; figuring that was why she’d been summoned here, as she certainly wasn’t marching her way across some isle when she couldn’t even live through a tournament. [say]“If people decide to quest or go find flowers. I can see if I can grab a group of us or whatever.”[/say] Since quite a few here hadn't been summoned...she didn't see why that couldn't work out.

RE: [SE] once more into the breach - Sunjata - 07-24-2024

Leaning in toward his niece as she explains what he’d missed out on and the information from Deimos – which he’d already received before tormenting the poor Sword with making him drop by Mother Molly’s with him to drop off a package – he nods and perks back up when Ronin speaks. Steel eyes drift toward the White Knight and Remi in turn, nodding. “[say]Yeah, sure. I’m good with that.[/say]” He says, agreeing easily to the team to go to Starfall. And while the idea of going there in the first place might bring dread and discomfort to everyone else, the Flood is perfectly content in taking the trek there.

Not a spark of panic or worry within his bones for it. Of course, there is for Hotaru and Melita, but given that there are other tasks that can be accomplished, it soothes that protective, possessive part of him that has otherwise been rebelling with this whole plot to snatch Starfall away from the Family. A Family he’s adjacent to, not that he’s going to say anything about it, obviously.

Having nothing to add other than a nod to Melita’s offer. “[say]Ru will probably be willing to help with the searches, too, but I can double check with her.[/say]” He offers – not volunteering himself, given that he’d already been volunteered for the other task of going there in the first place.

RE: [SE] once more into the breach - Hadama - 07-25-2024

"Agreed." Hadama inclined his head at Ronin's selection of champions. He was too pragmatic to regret not being named among them; he was all too aware of his own fragile mortality as he settled in to his powers, and the tournament had made clear who the strongest of Caido's defenders were.

The information about how to create safe zones within Starfall - 'safe' being a relative term - gave him pause as he considered the logistics, but he could only give a single shake his head at the question. "I have not found either flower." If anyone had he assumed they would speak up, but the silence to the contrary was answer enough. When Melita offered to assist and lead some portion of the endeavors he was content to nod agreement with her guidance. "I will help search as well," he rumbled. It was an easy offer to make when the task was one he was already undertaking, as several others had been as well. Having some order or organization to the endeavor would only help, however.

But that raised another question, and it was one that relied on a certain amount of optimism. "When a flower is found, who should we bring it to for safe keeping?"

RE: [SE] once more into the breach - Ronin - 07-30-2024

Ronin can't deny the relief that melts into his shoulders to hear the agreement from the majority of those gathered there, and he nods at the suggestions, as well as offering a gentle smile to Remi for his additions in terms of the scale of the operation into Starfall. [say]"I suppose, then, we all know what to do first,"[/say] he murmurs. [say]"If we all scour Frey's Breath for the flowers in our smaller groups, that will give us the best chance of coming across one, I think."[/say]

As for the who, the Knight glances between them all. [say]"I'd say that one of the four of us headed to the island would be best, depending on who you can find first."[/say] Himself, Remi, Deimos, Sunjata. [say]"We cover a reasonably wide expanse of Caido, between us. And we're lucky in that three leaders are here currently - we're missing only the Hollowed Grounds."[/say] Stormbreak doesn't count, for obvious reasons.

[say]"Is anyone willing and able to call out to Rae, Vi or Mort to quest for an item to keep the void at bay? I know it will take resource from a region, but if we are to get as deep into Starfall as quickly as possible..."[/say] He shrugs. No stone can afford to be left unturned.

RE: [SE] once more into the breach - Sah - 07-31-2024

Sah sent Seren a soft smile before silently listening as the others debated. Deimos and Ronin shed light on their options, and although it was nice to have a direction, the path ahead was undeniably difficult. One idea did occur to him as the back-and-forth continued. After a brief moment of hesitation, the Wild Thunder spoke up, [say]"I'm willing to search or assist in any quests that are undertaken."[/say]

His brow furrowed as he contemplated what had come to mind, [say]"And... I don't know if it's possible or if anyone would be willing, but what about extracting the flowers from items? Surely, they've been used to craft in the past."[/say] Stones, spoils of war, and other harvestable materials had been used countless times in quests. It didn't feel too farfetched that someone may have used one of Rae's Lilies or Vi's Roses.

RE: [SE] once more into the breach - Remi - 08-02-2024

Knowing that Torchline had already called down Vi and were in the process of completing what would hopefully be the last of their protected RQs, the Bastion considers. Halo was still in the process of theirs, had King's End started one? What about the Grounds? Then it dawns on him, and Remi huffs a small breath of laughter. [say]"You and I can call down Vi and Mort."[/say] He reminds his husband; new as it was to both of them, he wasn't so surprised they'd forgotten. [say]"Noah can too."[/say] He adds, glancing toward the Foresaken. [say]"If nothing else perhaps we can ask for a flower each."[/say] How far two would get them he wasn't sure, but it was two steps farther than they were now.

Lifting his eyebrows, Remi lifts his gaze from his whittling and fixes it on Sah. [say]"Do you know of any items like that?"[/say] He asks eagerly. The Bastion hadn't heard of any such items, but then it had been years since he'd had to look outside of himself for help or protection.

RE: [SE] once more into the breach - Deimos - 08-02-2024

He nodded at the other notions presented, directing his attention initially to Ronin’s additions first. [say]“Halo is still working on ours – though when we are done the healing springs will rid anyone of the infection.”[/say] He’d already heard of Everest, but he wasn’t certain how many others roamed. Thereafter, they might be able to see – depending on other ideas already floating around their heads. Though he had to smile in Remi’s direction; at least that was a consideration.

Sah’s suggestion had his brows furrowing for an instant. The inclusion of the flowers had always been for sicknesses; first the blight, and then the second interval. [say]“I have not heard of any,”[/say] he echoed, but arched his brow at the Wild Thunder, curious at the answer as well.

Then there were following matters. [say]“How many others do we want to inform?”[/say] Trusted friends, families, and allies? Notice board constituents? Presently, this was a small group of Caido already – though an active and persistent one. Deimos had always been very guarded about what he shared with others; notably due to war frames and calculated edges. Perhaps by the time it spread the Family would know as well, and from there, they couldn’t be certain if the Starfall proportions would have a way to defend even further.

RE: [SE] once more into the breach - Remi - 08-03-2024

[say]"That'll be handy to ha—"[/say] Inhaling sharply, the Bastion's eyes clench shut as his breath hitches in the back of his throat. Inclining his head to the side as if in pain—through the attuned bond the majority of those assembled around would be able to tell he wasn't, only concentrating very hard—Remi put a hand against his ear as if to block out the remainder of what Deimos was saying.

Releasing the breath he held, Remi shoots an apologetic look toward Deimos. No doubt he'd temporarily looked as if the Sword's voice had been giving him an aneurysm. [say]"Sorry, not to interrupt but—"[/say] Well, he hadn't really done the interrupting.

Ray had.

Turning his gaze toward Hadama, the Bastion cleared his throat. Having only met the healer a few times, still her face and voice were immediately known to him as she spoke from Mort's halls and into his thoughts. [say]"This is going to sound wildly dramatic, but...I have a message from Mort's Realm for you, Hadama."[/say] Based on the context he judged that it wasn't the sort of thing which needed to be said in private, and so he continued right away.

[say]"It's from Ray. She says that there's a Rae's Lily in her healing wand, and that she's, and I quote, so so so damn proud of you."[/say] Smiling softly at that, Remi laughs. [say]"Oh, and to slap one of the Family for her."[/say]
