RE: red wine supernova - Jack - 08-25-2024 [say]"Shame,"[/say] the captain drawls - terrorise him indeed. Raising an eyebrow and glancing to Using a combination of water and air magic, Jack soaks the sand and flattens it out, so it might be an easier journey along the coastline to reach the port. With that done, he moves to grab an armful of stones. [say]"A'right, let's get this over with,"[/say] he says - as they set off, he starts to place the stones at clear intervals, and with any luck, they aren't going to be disturbed by the tide or worse, by well-meaning Torchers. Jack uses his magic to make sure the path ahead is clear and flat, then begins to place stones. RE: red wine supernova - Flora - 08-25-2024 [say]"I believe in you."[/say] Flora says with a smirk as As Team Ark near the port, they'll find themselves quite the centers of attention, with whispers of Holy shit does Melita have a fuckin' pet tiger now?? and calls of [say]oy Jack, yer shipments in if you got a minute?[/say] A bunch of local kids had taken to following the wagon, kicking at the stones as if they were balls before a few started to try and juggle them. Round 2 Hadama/Flora -- you've got a long way to go! Aurelia/Mel/Jack -- now that you're in one of the most crowded areas, folks are pretty interested in what you're up to (and some kids are fucking with your rock placement). RE: red wine supernova - Hadama - 08-25-2024 Hadama wasn't the sneering type, but his jaw tightened grimly as their gazes were drawn to the unwanted purple island; a stark reminder of just why they were gathering and placing stones around their region. News of the unicorn horn shavings smoothed the resulting tension from his shoulders as he trudged along, however, and he nodded agreeably. "In the upper islands of Haulani?" he suggested after a few moments of thought. "Though I like the thought of creating more caches of healing water around Torchline. As long as we can ensure that our people save them for true emergencies," he added, dry humor in his voice. He liked to think the best of people, but he had been Torchline's King for too many years to have any illusions about their altruism. And he was blissfully unaware of the conversations Flora might have had with others on just this topic. He continued to pull the cart at a steady, even pace. The sand did not make it easier, but Hadama had raw muscle on his side and when the wheels had trouble rolling they could still be dragged until firmer ground was found again. Emerald eyes glanced back at Flora after a little while, and the twinkle of mischief was back as he asked, entirely too innocently: "Jack and Aurelia... were they, hm, more than simple shipmates?" Pulling a cart was thirsty work, and Hadama could use some more tea to make the work a little easier. Hadama hauls the cart and asks Flora for more hot goss! RE: red wine supernova - Melita - 08-25-2024 Gods it would be so fucking cool to actually have a pet tiger though… Right. Focusing. Things were going along swimmingly until they weren’t, and Melita thought the citizens had a lot of gall, especially the kids, to suddenly come running up towards tigers and then fuck with their rocks. And as tempting as it was to give off several threats or unwind something perturbing, the Honeybee was going to probably be a little more polite with the children. [say]“Leave ‘em,”[/say] she grouched to several who were beginning to juggle and toss them the stones about – hoping that’d be enough of a warning before Jack or Aurelia felt obliged to do something else. -- Melita warns the kids and tells them to put the rocks back. RE: red wine supernova - Aurelia - 08-29-2024 Aurelia's heart began to pound as she tried to weave through the thickening crowd. Her senses, sharper and reaching farther than normal, were quickly overwhelmed by the current of voices and prodding little fingers. A small boy extended his hand, his eyes wide. Aurelia hesitated, then gently rubbed her cheek against his palm. Her tail, a whip of striped muscle, curled playfully through the air, brushing against another child's outstretched fingers. She was a tiger, a creature of instinct and power. But she was also a protector, a guardian. And in that fleeting instant, as she interacted with the children, she felt a sort of happiness she hadn't experienced in years. Hoping to draw more attention away from the rocks and onto herself, Aurelia let out playful chuffs and rumbling meows, her tail swishing back and forth as she marched forward. Aurelia is hoping to entertain the children by being a big, friendly tiger (as she continues to move the cart)! RE: red wine supernova - Jack - 08-30-2024 The walk through the port is one that Jack does often enough that he might have managed it blindfolded, and that's even without telepathy. And, you know, he hadn't been lying when it came to having done this bullshit twice before now, such that as someone calls out about his shipment, of course the captain gives them the time of day. This is business, after all, and it looks as though Melita and Nevertheless, as he leaves the Honeybee to take up rock placing duty, he does allow the ground beneath the fuck-about children to freeze over quite abruptly, before off he goes to tend to his own agenda. Hopefully no one slips and falls and breaks something. But if they do? Oh no. Anyway. Jack freezes the ground beneath the kids fucking around, then goes to see a man about a shipment. RE: red wine supernova - Flora - 08-30-2024 [say]"Yeah, that's probably smart."[/say] Flora agrees with an easy bob of her head. Every since their home had been partially lifted into the clouds the upper portion seemed to have gotten the shorter end of the stick (perhaps that was merely bias on her part because of how far it was from the Hanged Man). "I know Everest and Isla were putting some together a while ago. I can check in with her and see if they're all still at the clinic or if she did manage to put them around."[/say] She adds, of creating caches around the island in general. More than content to let Hadama pull the cart, Flora lobbed stones over the side as they walked. Having known her co-leader long enough to pick out the thin strand of fuckery in the innocent phrasing of his question, the queen tossed her head like an ill-tempered pony before throwing a rock at the ground harder than was necessary. While she wasn't entirely certain what Hadama did or didn't know about she and Jack, the pair were seen often enough together to stir some amount of rumour. [say]"They both say no, but they each said it with enough vehemence to make me doubt it."[/say] [say]"Why? They're just rocks. You ain't the queen of rocks."[/say] One of the kids answers. It was a girl, rather plump with rosy cheeks and the sort of gimme one fucking good reason to listen to you slant to her lips that Melita had probably worn a time or two herself. For the most part the children around Jack 's business dealings go off without a hitch, though of course there's never just one person who wants Jack's attention, and soon someone else is waving him over to the pier where a body has been pulled up out of the ocean. RE: red wine supernova - Hadama - 08-30-2024 Hadama was equally prone to letting the floating half of their city go by the wayside, even now that he had legs. Like Flora, it was often out of sight, out of mind for the Mer King, but perhaps they could do something to rectify that now. "Please," he murmured to his co-ruler's offer to check in with their local medic. The mention of Everest gave him a moment of pause, however, and he glanced back at the Doubletake questioningly. "I do not know Everest well," he admitted slowly. "But the last time I saw him he was... surprisingly comfortable with a Void creature." Though this time he wasn't referring to Dahlia or the Midwinter Conference. While it had been clear that Jack was one of Flora's strongest supporters in the last leadership vote, Hadama had - mostly - kept his nose out of the Queen's personal business. Her annoyance at the question and her response was met with the Tidebreaker's usual stoic calm, but he did nod in acknowledgement. And in having certain rumors... if not confirmed, than at least given stronger evidence. "Mmh. It was a long time ago," he observed, studiously continuing to pull the cart. "And she did not look... happy... to see him today." Hadama continues to pull the cart along the coast RE: red wine supernova - Melita - 08-30-2024 Was it illegal to bitch-slap a child? Probably. And truly, Melita was past the point of giving a fuck – because this one was reminding her way too much of herself, and dealing with that required lots of patience the Honeybee didn’t have. [say]“Maybe I am,”[/say] she noted with an air of casual indifference – glancing at the sudden sheer and coating of ice from gods-damned nowhere. Arching a brow and not bothering to press the bizarre influx of the element, she wondered if it would be wiser to simply explain it to the kid. Then if they kept pressing, she’d given herself permission to truly be an asshat. [say]“We need ‘em for protecting Torchline from that shit,”[/say] she offered, pointing in the direction of Starfall. [say]“So leave those alone, and I can find you some other rocks. Much better ones.”[/say] She wouldn’t let them have the special shiny shit (that was hers), but she could offer some manner of appeasement. -- [say]Melita tries to strike a deal with the chitlin. [/say] RE: red wine supernova - Jack - 09-03-2024 Having forgotten all about the rocks for now - he's sure Melita and It turns out that the body isn't even one Jack has been involved in (he'd have never let it float to the surface, for a start) and so once the dock workers have decided what to do - or not to do - with the poor fucker, Jack waves everyone off and drifts back towards the cart. That has stopped moving. [say]"We got the rest of the coast to do, y'know,"[/say] he chastises them. [say]"Let's go."[/say] Jack does Jack things and decides he's had enough of the shenanigans so... let's keep going k. RE: red wine supernova - Aurelia - 09-03-2024 While she had no intention of stopping, the ice underpaw certainly made it difficult to continue. And it was no natural occurrence, either. The children's small hands, gripping her fur as if for dear life, tugged at her balance. The laden cart, a heavy burden, did nothing but add to her struggle. It seemed as if every element conspired against her in that moment. One of her paws slipped when a kid fell against her shoulder, but she caught herself - and the kid - in time before she went down. And everything with her. Instead of battling the ice with her claws, Aurelia thrust forward, spreading her paws wide in an attempt to glide across the slick surface. The cart and the kids, now mere appendages to her determined stride, swayed and bounced with the movement. Aurelia glides across the ice, kids and cart in tow RE: red wine supernova - Flora - 09-03-2024 [say]"Oh, yeah, he's for sure infected."[/say] Pausing, Flora glances at And as for Aurelia and Jack? [say]"Well...He made her his first mate basically right before she and Milo disappeared off into the jungle, so...when she came back she went to see him to try and patch things up and I'm pretty sure he told her to pound sand."[/say] [say]"Reeeeeeally?"[/say] There's a note of incredulity from the gaggle of children, but given what they knew about Melita (and all the ducks they'd seen), they were just as tempted to believe her as not. Considering, the children glance between one another, silently seeming to weigh their options in lieu of it possibly being true that they were in the presence of rock-royalty. [say]'Okay deal.'[/say] But then And just where is the captain? Strolling back over. What good timing. Hadama/Flora, keep on keepin' on! Team Ark: Jack's ice has caused Aurelia to fall, spilling a good number of stones from the cart. You'll have to put them back before you can continue on. RE: red wine supernova - Hadama - 09-03-2024 Oops. Perhaps Flora had told him, but Hadama had also been feeling perhaps a little overwhelmed with so much information in recent seasons. The reminder was indeed timely and he inclined his head in thanks for it even as it brought his recent conversation with Safrin into a little more clarity. "Hmm. That could be useful... If he is willing to test Halo's new healing spring," he rumbled quietly. "And I have heard... rumors. Of items that may allow someone to see signs of Void infection. That can perhaps be confirmed if his... condition is certain." The cart was growing lighter as the stones were slowly removed from it, making it easier to pull. With a grunt of effort Hadama increased his pace, looking ahead to see if the Miana Pool was in view yet. As for the day's gossip, and Jack's probable reaction to Aurelia's return? "It is good advice," the Tidebreaker observed in his blandest tone. "For strengthening one's fists and punches." Though he knew something of being left without warning by someone he trusted, and the pain it could cause. Hadama keeps hauling. RE: red wine supernova - Melita - 09-04-2024 She waited for the kids to make some sort of decision, because if this whole deal wasn’t coming to fruition over a pile of rocks, then someone’s ass was grass – Then she gleaned, smile properly Cheshire, before snagging at a few already in her bag – silvery, gold, and crimson as the ones existing deep in the Cataract. [say]“For starters!”[/say] And that she did live up to her promises, sometimes, when they suited her. But then her attention was snagged back to actual tasks, so she waved the kids off and watched as Aurelia went sliding and Jack came scolding. And of course, the rocks went flying. Sighing, the Honeybee set about scooping them up – careful to not to wander on any slippery surface. -- [say]Melita gives the kids some rocks of her own to start, then goes to help get the actual rocks they need back in the cart.[/say] |
