RE: ready or not - Melita - 03-11-2025 They all split off again, into the midst of the Greatwood area. Melita, striving to duck behind market stalls, ended up getting nailed in the head with a towel as she ran by, and it would be the second iteration that she’d been shocked. Instead of rolling into a gasp though, she had to turn quickly, heaving up clumps of dirt to avoid being seen, caught, or snagged by one of the merchants – opting to duck and sequester herself by a large area of cloth while the shopkeeper hustled around. Maea would be able to head for the trees and duck amidst the branches, but she wouldn’t be alone; as a squirrel, clearly friendly and outgoing and touch daft, slid up the tree too, chattering at her and causing a loud amount of havoc. Thalassa opted, interestingly, to set a fire amidst the trees. It likely accomplished many things at once – destruction and panic, simultaneously ensuring the whole wake of Fae villagers and kiosk owners nearby to come racing over, shrieking and screeching about putting the flames out. At least it provided her ample cover. And Alys, reaching out across emotions, would feel multitudes around her; from the chaotic semblances racing through Ancients, to the calm embodiment of the Ludo demigod, to the panicked villagers. It would be about which ones to follow and immerse within – if she wasn’t too overwhelmed all at once. -- [say]Melita has been whacked by a towel and sent up dirt everywhere by the merchant stalls. Maea has found a new friend. Thalassa has set a fire in the trees and caused widespread panic around the merchant area. Alys has found many, many emotions. Keep hiding, wreaking havoc, running to the base, or seeking! Alys must post last. Points: Thalassa: 2 Maea: 1 Alys: 1 Melita: 2[/say] RE: ready or not - Maea - 03-11-2025 Compared to the mayhem erupting below, her chatty squirrel wasn't too big of a problem. It was fortunate that she wasn't hungry, because making herself a snack would have been an easy solution to make it go away. Still, if it kept rimacing her like this, someone might think it off and have a second look. In this instance, all she really did was hiss threateningly at the squirrel, pecking after it with a heavy beak to make plain she wasn't in a mood to play. The fires catching in the treetops might help chase it off; they didn't bother Maea, as she wouldn't be hurt by it, and the smoke might actually help provide her with cover. But to the silvan creature the heat and crackling flame was a true source of danger. She hoped it wouldn't be retarded enough to stick around. ------ Maea tries to scare off the squirrel, hoping the fire in the trees (And the smoke) will offer her more cover. RE: ready or not - Thalassa - 03-11-2025 Whether it was all her fault or not, Thal was quite pleased with the chaos that ensued. People running and yelling about in a panic sent a tiny shiver of delight down her spine. If it got too out of control, she might help put the fires out, but for now, it made the perfect cover. Pulling up her hood, she walked out from behind the chicken coop, trying to mimic the speed and motions of those around her to blend in. Thal was practiced at melting into crowds, and she found it easy to start making her way towards the base. Now she just had to hope that the others didn't notice. --- Thalassa walks towards the base. RE: ready or not - Alys - 03-11-2025 Alys had made a monumental mistake. Her emotion magic ran amok, picking up not only on the hide and seekers, but also on the others gathered round - particularly as something started burning. Alys’s head snapped around, searching for the telltale sign of smoke that would give away the source of the fire, then started that way. The merchants were panicking, and she wasn’t keen to see half the forest burn to the ground in a gave of hide and seek - assuming, of course, that that was the source of the blaze. Forgetting momentarily about the game, Alys headed for the merchant stalls, trying to see if there was anything she could do. If there were efforts to put out the fire, she would join those before it got out of control. —- Alys abandons the game for the moment and tries to help out the fire out. RE: ready or not - Melita - 03-12-2025 A number of things occurred, and not many of them good – in terms of hide and seek, anyway. Melita, despite then opting to make a break for the base, would end up, invisibly, causing more havoc as she accidentally? Purposefully? Ran into several others as they all started to seek out the fire nearby. While not obviously seen, someone might notice a dirt impression of scattered feet, if they were looking close enough. Or a vampire gourd’s eyeroll. Maea too, would try and scare off the overly friendly squirrel. Pecking at it only appeared to give it more excitement, as it chittered and chattered in return, maneuvering out of beak range, but certainly attracting attention. Had it not been for the smoke or flames, she’d likely be noticed – helped by the circumstances at large. Thalassa ’s efforts to blend in were…okay, though several others began muttering to themselves. [say]Weren’t you the one starting fires over by the market?[/say] one noted, with more beginning to turn and glance her way. In the end though, perhaps it was all for naught – as Alys, kind and good, opted to help alleviate the small fire, rather than give chase to the hiders. Between the large assembly of dirt thrown and a couple mages skilled with water nearby, they were able to douse most of it. -- [say]No one has made much progress – Melita is headed towards the base but making noticeable dirt clouds, Maea’s friend won’t go away, and Thalassa has been spotted. Good news though, most of the fire is gone! Keep hiding, wreaking havoc, running to the base, or seeking! Alys must post last. Points: Thalassa: 2 Maea: 1 Alys: 1 Melita: 2[/say] RE: ready or not - Maea - 03-12-2025 Was it karma? Had she done something to attract all the wrong kinds of attention at the worst possible time? The squirrel did not take the hint and when it only got more excited, eager to make this a game of tag instead of hide and seek, Maea huffed and shuffled up out of her hiding hole. A glance down told her that Alys was distracted with putting out fires, and given the smoke that hung in the air she hoped visibility would be low enough to offer her some cover. Abandoning her newest friend despite its overtures, Maea spread her wings and glided quietly down from the tree towards the base, trying her best to stick within the smoke and to be as silent as possible. Wouldn't it be nice if her ghostly appearance would let her blend in with the drifting haze, to thus slip past unnoticed? Whether it would work or not was anyone's guess; worst case she'd be caught in the open again, but if she was lucky... It was worth a shot. ---- Maea tries to escape the friendly squirrel by hiding in the lingering smoke and flying towards the base. RE: ready or not - Thalassa - 03-12-2025 It appeared that people didn't quickly forget arsonists in Sidhe Village. A few were glancing her way, mumbling things that she certainly didn't think were compliments on her ingenuity. She'd have to play her cards right if she was going to slip past and to the base without further detection. Dipping her head for a moment, her glamour fell into place, horns, fangs, and tail vanishing to give her a more innocent and 'pretty' appearance. When she looked up again, Thal was no longer 'dangerous' or 'intimidating,' but 'soft' and 'naive.' She pulled down her hood to look at the woman who'd accused her, tilting her head in confusion as she said, [say]"I don't know what you're talking about. I just got here."[/say] Meanwhile, she kept making her way towards the base. --- Thalassa uses her glamour to try to convince the people she's not the one who started the fires. RE: ready or not - Alys - 03-12-2025 With the fires put out, and Alys suitably relieved, she turned her attention back to the game - if they were even still playing. Not seeing Melita, Maea, or Thalassa in the chaos, she had to assume that they were still hiding. Perhaps they hadn't even realized that there was anything to be concern about. In any case, Alys made her way free of the crowd of merchants and paused to look around. Her emotion magic hadn't been much use - and had, in fact, been quite overwhelming - so she elected to focus instead on the things she could see and hear. She made a study of the area surrounding her, glancing around and even up in the trees, trying to see if she could locate any of the hiders. --- Alys looks around, trying to spot a sign of those hiding! RE: ready or not - Melita - 03-13-2025 And with another turn of events – things continued heating up. Melita, this time unimpeded by others, swung wide and found herself back at the base – turning visible and glancing towards the diminishing flames with only an inward grimace. Weird coincidences and all that. Maea would also find herself cloaked in smoke (so maybe a less pure ivory when she was all done), but capable of flying under the radar, so to speak, and could easily swing into the base as well. Ordinarily, Thalassa, with all the attention she was getting, would’ve been caught outright. Even as the crowd murmured and several narrowed their eyes, harsh whispering in and amongst themselves as glamor was rendered and disguises shown, she began to wind her way back to the base. And Alys, who could’ve so easily snagged at the Ancient, was then pulled away to assist with more flames (did…other areas catch on fire too?), and by the end of it, everyone had ended up back to their secure location. [say]“Sorry Alys,”[/say] Melita hollered, and anyone could speculate whether or not that apology was genuine. [say]“My turn!”[/say] She offered with a Cheshire grin, closing her eyes, and beginning to count quite loudly. -- [say]Melita, Maea, and Thalassa have all made it back to base! Melita is now the seeker. Your options for hiding: - Stalls with very testy and angry merchants guarding them - Maybe by the fires that wouldn’t be suspicious at all - In the growing and pissed off crowds - Over by some benches Points: Thalassa: 3 Maea: 2 Alys: 1 Melita: 3[/say] RE: ready or not - Maea - 03-13-2025 Safely making it back to base, Maea didn't celebrate this time. Instead she stood with hands resting on her hips, watching the ruddy firelight that grew and diminished as the efforts to quell the inferno raged on. She felt bad, even though she'd done nothing to instigate this, and the knew she ought to help the firefighters at some point. Despite that, when Melita took her turn as the seeker, Maea still joined in with the game. Hoping it would be the last round, she decided to remain in her Ancient form this time. Glamoring away all signs of what she was, the pulled the hood up over her head and darted into the crowd, where her small stature and dark clothes might help her remain undetected. Jostled this way and that in the midst of the agitated press, she made an effort to keep moving, neither too fast or too slowly. ----- Maea hides her Ancient features (horns, teeth, tail), pulls her hood up over the hair and tries to hide in the crowd. RE: ready or not - Thalassa - 03-13-2025 It was surprising that she wasn't caught despite the murmurs of everyone around her. Part of her relished in the chaotic attention, the accusations of her actions, although a small part of her felt small and alone. Puffing her chest against the feeling, she let her glamour fall, her Ancient features reappearing with a sly grin that was all bravado. When Mel announced it was her turn, Thal wasn't really feeling the game anymore. Too many people were watching her, and she didn't have that convenient 'invisibility' ability, so no matter where she went, they would point and shout. She probably wouldn't be welcomed in the village for quite some time. Might as well enjoy it while it lasted. Walking through a patch of fire and into the trees, Thal shifted into her lyvern form. The flames reflected dimly against her black scales, and her eyes glowed blue in the shadows. She let out a low growl at those trying to put out the fires, stalking them like prey. If given the opportunity to glide towards the base, she would, but for now, she was content to terrorize the villagers a little more. Thalassa decides to play with the people trying to put out her fires while she waits for an opening to the base. RE: ready or not - Alys - 03-13-2025 Alys, distracted by the fires, did not succeed as seeker, but given that she hadn't set much store in the game in the first place, couldn't say she particularly cared. With the marketplace still smoldering, she was tired of hide and seek. Though she hadn't caused any of the damage, it seemed crass, somehow, to keep playing and having fun with the crowd still in varying states of panic. So when the others made it back to the base, she was perhaps a little relieved. Now the game could end, and she could go back to helping... right? Wrong. Alys cloaked herself in invisibility with her illusion magic as Melita started to count, slipping into the crowd in an effort to hide her footprints. She started to make her way back towards the fires, trying to see if there were any injured who she could help with her healing magic, all the while staying invisible. --- Alys goes invisible, then heads towards the remnants of the fires, hoping to help heal anyone with burns. She travels through the crowd to try and hide her footprints. RE: ready or not - Melita - 03-14-2025 Well, choices had been made again. Melita finished counting, then slyly turned invisible again, because honestly why not at this point. She stalked, she meandered, and she heard a veritable cluster of noises coming from the crowd – so why not go take a look? Maybe they were just vibing angrily with one another. That was a very Fae thing to do. Maea, cloaked and glamored, went virtually unnoticed. This was likely due to Thalassa causing a huge commotion, once again. Only this time the villagers weren’t having any of it – some grabbing hold of axes, pitchforks, whatever happened to be nearby, while others began chanting about using their abilities, with a wide variety of swears and oaths tossed about. [say]Get the fuck outta here![/say] some hollered, while others cast threats. Alys, invisible and otherwise occupied by healing measures (though, no one would know how or why some burns had been mended, given her own not really there thing going on). -- [say]Melita is headed towards the crowd! Neither Maea nor Alys have been noticed at all, and Thalassa is likely in danger of getting shit thrown at her. Keep hiding, wreaking havoc, or running to the base! Points: Thalassa: 3 Maea: 2 Alys: 1 Melita: 3[/say] RE: ready or not - Maea - 03-14-2025 So far, so good. Maea remained undetected for the time being, and since it worked well to keep herself moving, she began to meander her way through the crowd with a course set for the base. It felt strange to hide her horns. The way the hood fell around her face had been the normal once, but now she couldn't get used to the way cloth brushed against her cheeks. Risking the flash of a pale-skinned hand to adjust it, she pulled the hood as far forward over the face as she could while still able to see. The mood of the crowd grew testy, more threatening by the second. Hoping Thalassa wouldn't get herself injured, she made a note to herself to avoid getting on the captain's bad side again; unlike Maea, Thal seemed to revel in both the attention and the mischied of this game. Despite the whole point being to avoid notice. Perhaps she hadn't gotten the memo. ------- Maea is moving through the crowd towards the base. |
