RE: red wine supernova - Aurelia - 09-05-2024 The fact she falls is no big surprise. Hard to keep one's balance in a situation like that. But she tried her damnedest to make sure none of the kids fell underfoot, or got ran over by the cart, even as she landed flat on her own stomach and the cart reeled alongside her. Looking around at the rocks and children littering the sand, she let out an amused huff through her nostrils. With a small heave, Aurelia stood back up on her paws. Still strapped to the cart, she used her leverage on it to try and straighten things out as best she could. And, in doing so, she steered away from any remnants of the ice on the ground. RE: red wine supernova - Jack - 09-05-2024 Rolling his eyes to see the continuing shenanigans, at least it seems as though the children are no longer causing problems and they can persist with this one last task. (At least, it better be one last task, because Jack is just about done dumping rocks all around the region). He also bends to pick up the ones that have fallen out of the cart, also ensuring the ones they've left behind are in the right place before he straightens back up, satisfied. And, just to make sure there's no more slipping and sliding, he uses his water magic to turn the ice back into its liquid state, sweeping it away and leaving the ground dry. [say]"We ready to move on?"[/say] He assumes yes, continuing to trail behind the tiger and the cart and keeping the stones in his arms so he can place them in Aurelia's wake. Jack uses his Water Manipulation to get rid of the ice, and also helps to collect/arrange the stones that have fallen and already been placed. RE: red wine supernova - Flora - 09-05-2024 [say]"Oh yeah? Honestly at this point, maybe we should just all take a group field trip over to Halo for a quick swim."[/say] That'd be one way of telling for certain; everyone who got out of the pools was good, anyone who didn't, wasn't. Rolling her eyes, Flora grins at Gasping, the children begin to fight amongst themselves over who gets the offered rock, and as the wagon slides and then rolls away, Melita will hear the sounds of screams and cries as a winner is finally decided. As they head East, Round 5! Halfway! Team Leadership: Nearly at the Miana Pool! Team Ark: Onto the Rainbow Road! RE: red wine supernova - Hadama - 09-05-2024 "...That...is a very good idea." Hadama turned it over in his head several times as he spoke, but he could find no immediately downsides to it. He glanced back over his shoulder at his co-ruler with admiration, but his hidden grin escaped to flash white against his dark skin at her teasing. "Mmh. Not to my face," he admitted with amusement, turning his attention back to the stretch of sand ahead of them. He walked quietly for a bit, putting his back and legs into pulling the cart when he saw that they were nearing the Miana Pool and ruminating on her previous suggestion before he spoke up again. "What should we do about those who do not want to go?" His humor had subsided to a more sober mien as he plodded along. "I saw Safrin recently. She... indicated that we would do well to find a way to keep Void-infected humans out of Torchline." Or to cleanse them, though Hadama remained uncertain as to whether she meant with healing water or fire. And by now Flora was likely familiar with her co-ruler's tendency toward understatement. Still pulling the cart with the rocks! RE: red wine supernova - Melita - 09-05-2024 Pleased as punch the moment the children start fighting over the stones, and hearing a victor in the distance, Melita couldn’t even be bothered by picking up the remaining ones – practically skipping with ridiculous and impetuous glee as they made their way over towards Rainbow Road. Because, you guessed it, more rocks. Not only could she start placing them, with a very enthusiastic round of tossing, throwing, and heaving, then she could find more that she found incredibly awe-inspiring or noteworthy. Some for the deal with the chitlins, and some ( -- [say]Melita throws rocks over Rainbow Road and then finds more Rainbow Road rocks for herself. [/say] RE: red wine supernova - Jack - 09-07-2024 At least Jack is there to pick up after Melita (and that's a statement that's accurate in more than just this instance, he realises with an internal roll of his eyes), the captain placing his stones wherever the Honeybee might have gotten distracted forgotten to ensure that they are a regular distance apart. He's forced to concentrate a little harder as they move from the port and onto the Rainbow Road, given the number of stones Mel starts to pick up compared to the ones she drops. [say]"You just put that one down,"[/say] he drawls of the teal stone, the smirk on his face suggesting that no, she hasn't, but who is he if not a shitbag who wants to sew some seeds of doubt into Mel's mind? It's a long, long way around the coast, and he has to find some way to amuse himself now that they're beyond Kaiholo and all his business opportunities. Jack keeps placing stones and mildly bullies Melita. RE: red wine supernova - Aurelia - 09-07-2024 Finally, was all she could think as they left behind the clamor and chaos for the bliss and smoother grounds of the Rainbow Road. Tiger-Relia fell into a much more relaxed stride, now that she needn't watch out for children or ice. She could feel the load getting lighter with each round of stones being removed. The part of her that was more tiger than pack mule would've much rather dipped off into the water and went for a swim than haul a cart along. But, well, that was an activity that could always be savored after this was all said and done. As they went along and Jack poked fun at Melita, Aurelia noticed a rather pretty [which was just her opinion] and rather smooth [which was more of a fact] stone laying off to the side. Stretching out a stray paw, she flicked it across the cobblestones. Just so that it might bounce off of the Honeybee's shoe. With a comical tilt of her large, striped head, Aurelia's green gaze wavered over the woman's face to see if that stone was to her liking. Aurelia continues to pull the cart, but also gives the demi-god Melita a stone offering, for safe passage~ RE: red wine supernova - Flora - 09-07-2024 [say]"Mmhmmmmmmmm."[/say] Flora grins, her eyes widening ever so slightly before she tilts her head back and laughs. [say]"Make them?"[/say] It comes out as an obvious suggestion, with the queen turning her head ever so slightly over her shoulder toward the Tidebreaker with a raise of her eyebrows. [say]"I mean, getting rid of all the void flora and fauna is going to be a big relief, but..."[/say] Frowning, Flora bites back her words for a moment as she considers the ramifications. It was one thing to say that they should just make Everest go, another to consider what that might mean for Torchline's relations with Stormbreak, or even how it might affect Isla. [say]"I mean..surely we can't allow it. Right?"[/say] Well, it's nice to see that both the current and former members of the Ark are getting along so well, with only a few rocks thrown at one another now that they've left the Port behind. Hopefully, they have all been keeping an eye out on what goes where, because it really is hard to tell. Oh well. Next up is the lighthouse! Round 6! Team Leadership, you're at the Miana pool! Team RE: red wine supernova - Melita - 09-07-2024 She huffed indignantly at the Captain, immediately making a face the moment he turned his back. Pocketing it soon thereafter, and he could fight her about it, she aimed to actually assist more than rock hunt, granting Aurelia a little grin when another came flickering towards her, adding to the pile in her means. Hehe. Which meant she was kinda-sorta on her best behavior as they approached the lighthouse (a lot less impressive stones here for the taking, if we’re being honest). Looking as though she was a proper little helper, she ensured the cart didn’t get pulled this way and that as they came towards Aumakua; she didn’t want the same shit to happen all over again. -- [say]Melita helps ensure the cart is good to go as they travel to Aumakua![/say] RE: red wine supernova - Jack - 09-07-2024 Smirking to himself as he senses the face Mel is pulling even without his telepathy, Jack at least relents and allows the Honeybee to go about her rock collection as they proceed along the Rainbow Road. And if Aurelia wants to help her with that, so be it - as long as the cart keeps moving forward, the captain is happy. For his part, he double checks their work along the way (a task he hopes is made easier by the fact that he isn't picking up stones as well as putting them down), hurrying back to grab a small sack of them as they turn towards the Aumakua. Whilst Melita keeps the cart steady, Jack uses his water magic to keep any shallows at bay, allowing them to rumble across the beaches and up into the longer grasses again. Jack keeps placing stones and also keeps any shallow water at bay as they cross towards the Aumakua! RE: red wine supernova - Hadama - 09-07-2024 "That is what Safrin implied she wanted," Hadama agreed, thoughtful. Pulling the cart all the way along the coast to the Miana Pool had given him a reason to pace his words slowly; for all his strength and endurance, it was hard work that he was unaccustomed to, and his pace was beginning to slacken. The reduced weight helped, but it was still quite a distance to drag something over sand. "Everest's actions are... more than suspicious. But others may be less obvious." He looked back at his Queen with a slight furrow between his steel-grey brows. "It might mean war with Stormbreak. Kidnapping their Spyglass. Even if Everest is grateful afterwards, the Reaper will not be. And there is the question of how to keep him from being infected again, if he chooses to return to his home afterwards." As they moved around the Pool he gave a weary shake of his head. "I am in agreement with you. But we need to chart our course carefully through the rocks before we act." Hadama is getting tired but keeps pulling the cart and recommends caution in dealing with the Infected. RE: red wine supernova - Aurelia - 09-10-2024 They hit the sand and Aurelia felt the resistance from the cart's wheels almost immediately. Pulling harder to account for this, she took longer strides that had her paws sinking into the semi-damp ground with each step. Glancing back, she was pleased to catch Melita reaching out to steady the cart and help usher it along. When the tide was pushed back, she watched as it revealed lumps of seaweed and other shallow reef plantlife. A random fish was caught off guard by the magic, though, and flopped around in the sand, waiting hopelessly for the ocean to swallow it back up. As she passed it by, she gave it a helpful nudge back into the waves -- against the better judgment of the feline instinct to grab it and eat it. As they drew nearer to the Aumakua, Aurelia moved with more care. Her paws picked their way around large stones and tried to choose the paths of least resistance for the cart. Aurelia's pulling the cart along trying to be careful so hopefully no spills~ RE: red wine supernova - Flora - 09-10-2024 [say]'Wellllll.....who said anything about kidnapping? What if someone just...invited him to go to Halo and he happened to fall in the hot springs?"[/say] Mateo could probably do it, or even Koa...but.. [say]"Oh. Yeah. I guess I didn't think about that part."[/say] Flora hums, frowning. Surely if Dahlia had infected Everest once and he enjoyed it, there'd be no reason for her not to do it again? [say]"So do we just...ban him? Or rather, ban anyone infected?"[/say] Noticing the way Hadama had begun to slow down, Flora moves to reach for one of the cart's handles. [say]"Here, let me."[/say] She offers. While the queen might not be as strong and they might not actually be going any faster, at least Hadama wouldn't have to sap his strength entirely just to keep things moving along. Ahead the lighthouse comes into view. The little bridge that leads to the island is only a few inches above the water thanks to the tide being in, though it won't take any sort of mind geared toward engineering to know that Aurelia, the cart and all the rocks within are not going to make it over in one piece.' Round 7! Team Ark: Gather as many stones as you can, OR find a way to get the cart across the bridge (it's only made for foot traffic and would probably buckle under the weight of a cart+tiger+stones). Team Leadership: Nearly done! RE: red wine supernova - Hadama - 09-10-2024 "..." The series of events that Flora suggested earned the rise of one(1) brow, but he did not contradict her. The 'how' was less important in the end than the 'how to keep it from happening again,' and he was content to pull the cart in silence while she mulled over their options. "Mmh. But how do we tell who is infected?" A ban would be a grand gesture, but ultimately a useless one with no easy means to enforce it. "You or I cannot sit at the docks and the Port every day, checking every visitor to our shores. Even if we had an item to do so." To say nothing of the smugglers and pirates - fewer of those these days - who dropped anchor in any one of the coast's half-hidden coves or amid the Kuali'i Isles to sneak into Haulani. "I do not have an easy answer for this," he admitted, a frown pulling at the corners of his mouth. "But I find it difficult to believe that Everest is the only one infected by now." The frown lifted almost immediately as Flora moved to assist with the cart. Hadama inclined his head in gratitude, a murmured "Thank you," rumbling from his chest. The cart did, indeed, begin to move faster with Flora's help, though they had to pause every few steps to toss out a rock around the perimeter of the Miana Pool. The cart was nearly empty, at least, and the end of the coast was in sight. Hadama keeps on keeping on and talks politics with his co-ruler while they drop safety rocks! |
