RE: there is a light that never goes out - Remi - 07-24-2025 Remi lifts his head at Liam’s voice, the shovel thunking softly into the ground as he brushes a streak of soil from his forearm. [say]"Mm,"[/say] he agrees, glancing toward the climbing wall where Kaisel and Maea are finishing the last holds. [say]"Won’t stay upright long on charm alone,"[/say] he drawls, mouth twitching with a faint grin, before shouldering the shovel and stepping in to help. Crossing the short distance in a few easy strides, Remi eyes the angle of the wall and where the weight will settle once they lift. His gaze flicks toward Kaisel already anchoring one corner, and without needing to ask, he plants himself at the opposite side. [say]"Ready,"[/say] he murmurs, fingers curling around the thick edge of the frame. Muscles bunch beneath his shirt as he lifts with smooth, practiced effort, matching Kaisel’s pace and angling the post toward the freshly dug holes. Once upright, he shifts his stance to steady the bulk of the structure. [say]"How’s it look from your side?"[/say] he calls to Kaisel, keeping his eyes on the base. Remi braces w/ Kaisel! RE: there is a light that never goes out - Maea - 07-26-2025 Fresh to the world of bouldering, Maea listened with keen interest as Kaisel explained. Adding nuance to the 'impossible' routes, she saw what they were working towards a bit clearer. [say]"I will, it does seem fun. Perhaps you'd be willing to show how it's done sometime?"[/say] Even looking at the wall lying on the ground, she couldn't fathom how one was supposed to cling to the grips and footholds. The kind of strength required was entirely different from anything she had trained for - and she was itching to give it a try. With the grips secured and the wall completed, Maea traded places with Remi and hurried around to pick up the shoveld waiting for her beside Liam. As the wall was raised and held in place, she packed rocks and dirt down around the pole, making sure to stamp it down until it held the structure securely. [say]"Do we need more rocks, or is it holding?"[/say] she asked once she was all but done with her end. Backing up to squint at the final result, a smile split her face; [say]"It looks great!"[/say] ------ Maea buries and stabilize the wall ~ RE: there is a light that never goes out - Liam - 07-28-2025 Their group worked quickly and diligently on the climbing wall, conversing amongst themselves as they split off into teams once more. Remi and Kaisel braced the wall in place while Maea helped Liam to bury the posts in their newly dug holes. When they were done, Liam stepped back and gestured for the rest of the group to do so as well, grinning when the wall stayed perfectly in place, just where they'd put it. [say]"Perfect,"[/say] Liam said, rubbing the back of one hand across his brow and leaving a streak of dirt behind. There were still odds and ends to finish up, but the light was beginning to fade, and this was certainly a good start on their training grounds. [say]"Great job,"[/say] he offered to the group. [say]"I think we're done for today. I really appreciate all the help. Feel free to test anything out, if you're so inclined - practice weapons are over there - or, if we're all set here, I'd be happy to treat you all to dinner."[/say] And so when the group determined that they were content with their work, that would be exactly what Liam did. fin |
