RE: cover me in kerosene - Charlie - 07-31-2024 [SAY]"You,"[/say] the blonde purrs adoringly. [say]"Are very clever. And bella."[/say] With only a glance, small orbs of fire appeared around them, unmoved by the breeze and casting a warm glow upon the pair. Making a come hither motion at them, they drifted closer until Charlie could feel their warmth on her skin. Glancing over her shoulder at Mateo for his approval—she'd move them farther or closer as he preferred—the priestess turned her eyes towards the sky, marvelling at the sheer number of stars above. [say]"Oh? Can anyone use it?"[/say] Realizing that was perhaps a silly question given who she was here with, Charlie flashed the botanist a smile before clarifying. [say]"Can you?"[/say] Laying down, her head on the jacket by Mateo's thigh, Charlie took a deep breath as she looked up into the uproar of starlight above them. [say]"When I was young, we'd always pretend that our fire magic extended to the stars."[/say] She explains with a sheepish laugh. [say]"And when we saw shooting stars, the first person to shout that was me! got to pretend it was their magic that had caused it to fall."[/say] RE: cover me in kerosene - Mateo - 08-03-2024 [say]"And I keep very similar company,"[/say] Mateo assures Charlie, the compliment as easily returned as it is accepted, and as the priestess conjures her little motes of fire to keep the chill at bay, he struggles to keep his attention on the stars at all. With the snapdragon lingering in his veins (and gods know what other drugs they accompany, not to mention the alcohol) each of Charlie's orbs of fire appears to have gained a golden halo of light, one that dances and flickers with each movement of Mateo's head. [say]"Mmm...?"[/say] He blinks, realising she's asked him a question, tipping his head back once more towards the large dome. [say]"You know, I have never actually tried. I do not know how to use it, and I think it may be reserved for Stormbreak's leaders and council, but you know... how hard could it be, really?"[/say] Incredibly hard, they'll find out if they try it. (Looking at you, Brecon Beacons telescope). Gazing down at her with easy affection as she sprawls out on the coat blanket, it's with a lopsided smile that he hears her out. [say]"You never know - perhaps it was one of you, at least one time,"[/say] he says, laughing. [say]"I daresay Safrin would have been furious if you had managed it, though, so you would probably know about it right away."[/say] RE: cover me in kerosene - Charlie - 08-03-2024 [say]'You just....put your eye up against it?'[/say] Charlie titters; they're had telescopes in her day, of course. Nothing so grand as the Spyglass, but surely it was all more or less the same? Peering at the botanist upside down, the priestess tilts her head until her cheek is almost against her shoulder rather than adjusting her position to see him better. [say]"We always thought so."[/say] She agreed with a bubbly laugh that seemed to settle down in her knees and feet, making her kick off Mateo's sandal so she could wiggle her toes. [say]"She wouldn't have dared. None of the heralds came to the Climb, not unless someone channelled them there, which would have been super rare."[/say] Lifting one of her hands, Charlie wraps her fingers around the glow of a nearby star, fixing her blue gaze on it and concentrating. Nothing happened of course, but that didn't stop her from creating a small spark of fire that she had trail overhead, sputtering out just before it would have crashed into the botanist's curls. [say]"Oh! I almost forgot!"[/say] Wriggling, Charlie shoves her hand down the top of her dress. She didn't have pockets, and given that her breasts were small just like the rest of her, it made it a convenient enough place to temporarily store things. Pulling out a small baggy of opalescent powder, she holds it out to Mateo. [say]"I pulled it off Red when she was trying to take yours."[/say] The priestess says with a small shrug. Tit for tat, only Red had gotten caught, and she hadn't. RE: cover me in kerosene - Mateo - 08-03-2024 [say]"Well yes, of course you do,"[/say] Mateo says with a huff of musical laughter, as if realising how simple he's made himself sound. [say]"But I believe figuring out where to point it is the complicated part."[/say] Lots of coordinates and moving of mechanisms and hmming from men who don't have enough sex, if you ask him. Luckily, they have quite a stunning view of the stars from where they sit right now. [say]"Oh? I suppose that makes sense. I imagine it is very much the same up there now,"[/say] he says of The Climb and its isolation from any god besides Dygra - not that he feels much about it either way. No, the botanist is more interested in the little blazing trail from Charlie's imaginary shooting star, and the way it fizzes and dances close enough that he can feel the heat of it on his cheeks. (Or maybe that's just how his cheeks feel, he's had enough snapdragon not to be entirely sure anymore). Blinking back down at the petite Ancient as she wriggles and shoves her hand down her dress, before Mateo can lament that he would have happily looked for anything she might have dropped down her cleavage himself, she's withdrawing a small package of what he can immediately tell is some high quality Dreamdust. [say]"Charlie, you are a wicked woman and I cannot tell you how much I love it,"[/say] Mateo purrs to her, laughing and peering into the baggie. [say]"This will put you to sleep faster than any amount of alcohol,"[/say] he tells her, like it's a secret. [say]"But make sure you are in a good mood, because your dreams will be like nothing you have ever experienced."[/say] RE: cover me in kerosene - Charlie - 08-03-2024 [say]"Oh, well. Maybe if we find anything worth taking a closer look at we'll worry about it, otherwise, this seems more than fine to me."[/say] Truly; it had been centuries since Charlie had seen a sky so vast. The Grounds with its rolling hills was beautiful, but it made it difficult to see the full expanse of the sky. [say]"Kinda."[/say] The priestess agrees, her brow furrowing somewhat as her nose wrinkles. [say]"There's so many more non-ancients than ever before."[/say] That wasn't a bad thing in and of itself, but of all the changes Charlie had experienced since reawakening, that was the one she was finding hardest to deal with. Purring happily up at him, her tail swaying lazily across the floor, the little ancient hums dreamily just at the mention of it. [say]"Want to?"[/say] Lifting her eyebrows, she beams up at the botanist, one of her hands stretching up for his cheek. [say]"We could lay right here, beneath all of the stars."[/say] RE: cover me in kerosene - Mateo - 08-03-2024 [say]"I happen to think that everything worth looking at is right here,"[/say] Mateo says with a sunny smile down at Charlie. Between the priestess, the cascade of stars overhead and the winking motes of fire to keep them warm, there's no place he'd rather be. (And that's not just because he has no desire to get up, one sandal and all, to head towards the dome proper). Tilting his head down at her and offering a dimpled smile, he reaches out to boop her on the nose. [say]"I hope you do not hold it against us non-Ancients,"[/say] he says, leaning into the touch of her cheek and relishing it as though her touch is made of the finest silk. He'd have just as happily taken another dose of snapdragon and gone to dance among the scholars as hit the dreamdust instead, and so excitable raise of her eyebrows is all he needs to seal that particular deal. [say]"That does sound wonderful"[/say] he croons. [say]"You will need to keep close to me though - I have heard it is not good for Ancients to get cold."[/say] So saying, Mateo sits himself up a bit to take a bump of dreamdust - a healthy one - before passing the baggie across to Charlie to do the same and sprawling back out against his coat on the ground. RE: cover me in kerosene - Charlie - 08-03-2024 [say]"Listen to you."[/say] The priestess laughs delightedly. Charlie might not have any dimples to speak of, but line after line after line of laughter appears by her blue eyes as she lets her fingertips press against his unshaven cheek and into his curls. [say]"No, no, of course not."[/say] She assures him breezily. [say]"I'll happily hold other things against you, though."[/say] Flashing him a fanged smile, Charlie accepts the baggie and sniffs a healthy portion of the opalescent dust before tilting her head back as a churning wave of heavy sea-green spilled over her mind. [say]"You know, that's very true."[/say] She purrs before fitting herself neatly at his side and slipping one of her hands beneath his shirt. For warmth, of course. [say]"How long do we have?"[/say] She wonders, glancing at the stars overhead as if they might begin some sort of countdown for her to follow. The world was still mostly drenched in Snapdragon, though were Charlie to think about it hard enough, she'd notice that the kaleidoscopic edges of everything were beginning to softer, their colours bleeding together rather than remaining isolated and sharp. RE: cover me in kerosene - Mateo - 08-03-2024 [say]"But of course. I expect you to hold those other things against me, and for me, and perhaps even hold them while I do other things for you,"[/say] Mateo quips, leaning into the touch of her hand, feeling the softness of her fingers as if they are made of silk and cashmere. It's a shame, alas, for their conversation to take such a turn right on the heels of a drug that will sedate them and then some, but at least Charlie is nestled close enough to keep warm. There's always the morning after all, right? [say]"I wish I could say. I do not imagine it is very long - I am always asleep before I remember how far I have counted,"[/say] Mateo admits with a laugh. His own vision is starting to take on a hazy, cloudlike quality, his muscles relaxing into something close to euphoria, and he just about manages to shift enough to get his arms properly around Charlie before he can't really remember how his limbs work. [say]"It's nice though, right?"[/say] RE: cover me in kerosene - Charlie - 08-03-2024 [say]"mmmm.'[/say] The priestess hums. She feels an uncomfortable pang of regret in her stomach that she quickly dismisses with the twitch of her tail. Sure it might have been nice to hear Mateo sing out her name for all the stars to hear as she fucked him beneath them, but as he'd rightfully noted for himself, there was always the morning. Just because they couldn't see the stars didn't mean they weren't there. Even Charlie knew that. [say]"Try counting this."[/say] She mumbles, her lips feeling quite thick as she shifts slightly against him. In her might she was going to roll right on top of him, but her limbs had grown heavy as if she'd been left out in the cold too long. Luckily, she felt nothing but heat and warmth, and so any concerns she had about the sluggishness of her bones she ignored. Pressing a kiss against Mateo's jaw, the priestess mentally counts one. She flutters another across his cheek before the hand beneath his shirt is forced to clutch at his chest in order for her head to raise anymore. The blonde just about manages the corner of his lips before the weight of the world seems to sink down on her. [say]"I love you, bella Mateo."[/say] Charlie hums as her eyes fall closed. Whether or not she's able to plant a fourth kiss against his neck before she falls asleep, she doesn't know. ~FIN |
