RE: bark at the moon - Hawthorn - 11-25-2025 “[say]Yeah, hmm.[/say]” Thorn mutters, watching the retreating form of the rancher, head tilting slightly until she’s no longer within sight and he manages one glance cast at the demigod in question. Seeing him at the bar table, his gaze is pulled away to Thalassa easily, slipping his little mask into place to be social even if he’s just been abandoned. His gaze drops to the fireworks in the Ancient’s hands and a tail that sparks alight with flame. Chuckling softly, he shrugs his slender shoulders and gestures to the fireworks in question. “[say]I guess I’m lightin’ off fireworks?[/say]” He decides with a snort, gesturing for them to lead the way to follow behind while they get ready to light off the fireworks, figuring that if someone hurt themselves he at least has some healing magic to help out. RE: bark at the moon - Calypso - 11-25-2025 Finding @Jack’s lopsided smile once she hands him a brief concoction that would hopefully smooth over any barbs that are currently occurring – she toasts with her father and her brother if Vesper wishes to partake, downing the liquor and letting the sensation of the burn flood the rest of her gilded mind. Things shift, between how much alcohol she’s had thus far, moving like sands whipping around especially as she overhears the Captain’s comment about drama. Her amber gaze follows the trail left behind to see Kaisel and Flora scurrying away with a hint of satisfaction in her gut that seems to say good, we didn’t want ya here anyway. Despite herself, her eyes narrow over at their retreating forms, before she’s looking back at her family and lets herself soak in the fact that they were still here, at least. Even if things with Vesper seemed a touch… Rocky, at the moment. RE: bark at the moon - Court Official - 11-26-2025 Some may have left the proceedings (COWARDS) but for the remainder, the blood moon continues to shine down its crimson light, and not even the gathering rainclouds and brewing downpour can stop the chaos of its presence. Perhaps there's still fun to be had! (Disclaimer: fun is in the eye of the beholder). Charlie has the urge to dance and sing Jack has the urge to give someone a compliment VERY aggressively Hawthorn has the urge to let out a blood curdling scream RE: bark at the moon - Vesper - 11-26-2025 Aithne ’s fingers tap his glass and send it tumbling, liquid splashing across his coat and dripping from his glove, but Vesper barely registers the impact. The chaos of it, the wink, the squealed later!—all of it slides past him like rain against stone. His focus is locked, blood-hot and razor-thin, on the sight of Thalassa leaning into Colt as if she’d been waiting for that exact collision all night. Calypso ’s emotions spike sharp in his periphery, a flare of protectiveness and jealousy that echoes his own before he has the chance to clamp down. His lip curls without meaning to, the expression a flicker of shadowed heat before he wrestles it still. He doesn’t look at her, but he feels the recoil inside her, the same burn, the same sting that cuts through him like someone dragging barbed wire through his chest. When she slips away to get the drinks, the absence at his side is abrupt enough that the shadows around his boots shift, restless. And when she returns, when she presses the shot into his hand and tries to lightness her way into his gravity, he manages a small nod—distant, numb, the glass steady in a grip that should tremble but doesn’t. He’s never been blindsided before. Never. Not like this. Not by someone who used his shadows, his focus, his magic in her veins, and then walked straight into another woman’s arms like she was choosing sides in a war he hadn’t realised they were fighting. Colt had obviously come here intentionally, and Vesper didn't believe she'd kissed Thal by accident, not when he was sure that Thal had likely spit venom after him when Colt had channelled him to her side. It hits harder than he prepares for. Harder than he ever lets anything hit. He knocks back the shot Caly hands him, the liquor burning a clean, brutal line down his throat. It doesn’t steady him, it doesn’t cut through the haze.; it doesn’t do a damn thing except confirm the hollow space opening behind his ribs, the sensation of someone slicing out his foundation and leaving him standing on air. When Jack ’s shoulder bumps his, Vesper barely feels it. The captain’s commentary, the drama he gestures toward, none of it touches him. Vesper’s eyes lift to Jack for a heartbeat, but the look is faraway, unfocused, utterly unwilling to pretend at interest. He shakes his head once, sharply, as if trying to clear the static. [say]"I’m done with this,"[/say] he mutters, voice low, too calm to be anything but brittle. And before Caly can catch his sleeve, before Jack can pull one more thought from the air, Vesper lets the shadows collapse upward, misty-stepping through them in a single graceful ripple until he's far the fuck away. Vesper out! RE: bark at the moon - Jack - 11-29-2025 Jack is already reaching for another drink from - honestly - wherever he can get one, following Calypso's gaze across to the departing Doubletake and her haunted looking squeeze. Scoffing to himself and glancing sidelong at Caly for a brief moment, he's just settling in to get quite comfortably smashed in a way he rarely lets himself do, when Vesper is all brittle discomfort and thorny gazes. Before he can say much of anything, the boy is fucking gone, and it gives Jack just enough time to blurt, [say]"YOU'RE REALLY FUCKIN' GOOD AT THAT,"[/say] before he catches himself, blinking a couple of times, and decides quite suddenly to find somewhere to sit down for a bit. [say]"He is though,"[/say] he says to Caly with a shrug, before, barefoot and with drink in hand, he flits away to get comfortable nearby. Jack AGGRESSIVELY compliments Vesper's misty-stepping as he leaves. RE: bark at the moon - Calypso - 11-30-2025 She downs the shot and aims to reach for another one (evidently, like father like daughter), and turns to look back at her brother as if there’s a glittering hope he might remain for the rest of the night. And just like that, he’s gone, the warmth of his arm around her shoulder and his presence vanishes like it had never been there to start, and the young attuned almost deflates if it weren’t for Jack’s aggressive compliment that trails after her brother. “[say]Yeah. Too good sometimes.[/say]” She mutters, grabbing a large glass and mixing a few different drinks in it before she’s following her father with a bounce in her steps, trying to avoid the worst of the mud puddles. “[say]Oy, wait for me![/say]” It wasn’t like there was much else going on at the party, and Nova seemed pleased to hang out with her friends. So the young attuned departs the event with her father, searching for that comfortable spot nearby and away from the bulk of the parties. Caly follows Jack out! RE: bark at the moon - Hawthorn - 12-01-2025 He starts to step away to follow Nova and Thalassa with the fireworks, still somewhat glancing around to see if he can find Colt within the outskirts or if she’s well and truly gone. It’s precisely when he gets that sudden urge to flow through him. Between the Blood Moon, mud, and the heat raging from the bonfire, he isn’t sure what it is, but he’s compelled to do it and so he must. Taking a sharp inhale, the courtesan screams out — sharp and haunting but also kind of funny — as evidenced by the way the surprise of it immediately makes him fall into a fit of laughter, waving off anyone that comes to check on him or looks in his direction. Still laughing from the shock of it and the whiplash of the night, Thorn flashes a wave back toward the hybrid and the Ancient and books it out of the festival. Thorn screams LOUDLY and bolts outta the party LMAO |
