RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Kaisel - 06-03-2025

Kaisel nods with a thin line to his lips, no longer feeling the energy to keep pretending things are okay when they clearly aren't. [say]"We could go look for her?"[/say] he offers, edging off his floatie with an eruption of squeaks as water and skin slide over the plastic. The viper shoots off behind him, flopping into waves that push it back towards shore.

His head is moving in turn with Koa's though, and Flora's overly cheerful wave is the last thing he gets to see in relative calm before it all erupts. Noise and movements and weapons and gods. Every part of him tenses, his body ready before his mind can even comprehend what the fuck. As Koa turns with an order, one that might normally leave Kaisel bristling at being assigned something clearly orchestrated for the back line, he merely accepts it with a curt nod of understanding. He can't even insult Jack without dying, he sure as shit can't take on the Family, doesn't really think of them here can.

About to turn, his hotdog abandoned to the water, Koa cuts through with a redirected command that guides Kaisel's attention towards his other cousin streaking towards Flora like the most delicate linebacker. Kaisel's eyebrows hit his hairline, but he takes off after his commander in an instant. Not quite as fast, he dives in after Koa, aiming for Noe's legs, trying to wrap them up in his arms and his body weight, grunting against the spray of sand and effort.

Koa calls for Soh, and Kaisel grits his teeth in prayer they can success and get the fuck out before shit gets worse than it already has.

Kaisel also tackles Noe, aiming for her legs, and helps hold her down.

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Sohalia - 06-03-2025

When everything fell apart, Soh lurched to her feet, tense and at the ready, content to follow Koa's instructions because, honestly? What else was she going to do? She had no abilities that would work right now, no items to aid her, and she didn't have a death wish. Getting people to safety, though - that, she could do.

Until, of course, a flash of raven hair caught her attention - and Koa's, too, apparently, because he was suddenly sprinting off into the melee, Soh hot on his heels. While Kaisel and Koa tackled Noe - hopefully - the Luminary reached into the bag she'd brought with her, pulling out a particular rose. [say]"Try to hold her still!"[/say] she cried, and lunged for Noe, attempting to prick her with the rose's golden thorns.

Vi's Roses (rare): A beautiful crimson flower with thorns of deep gold, it is rumoured that these roses are coloured with Vi's lifeblood. When planted, they have the ability to cleanse the area around them.

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Liam - 06-03-2025

Liam was sipping on a glass of whiskey when the pandemonium erupted, and he let loose a sigh that might have been a touch disappointed. Here he'd been looking forward to the pool party - relaxing by the beach, sipping on a drink, eating some good food, maybe making some new friends. And now, that all seemed to go out the window.

Vox seemed to have Pierce covered, and Thalassa seemed to be holding her own, so Liam turned his attention to the rest of the party - where Noe was being targeted, it seemed, by not one, not two, but three people. With a defiant snarl, Liam lunged into the fray, hurrying towards the group of young people and aiming a punch at whoever was closest - Kaisel, as it turned out - in the hopes of getting him away from Noe.

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Colt - 06-03-2025

The storm finally breaks.

Just as they move towards the party, several people take sudden, meaningful action, their Archon included. A jolt of fear locks Colt up, rigid and breath caught like a horse about to spook. They're insane, she thinks, awed and dumbstruck with the unfolding chaos that looks like little more than an upgraded playfight—because against the Family, that's all it could ever be.

Thorn's voice pounds through the dread pooling in her. She glances at him sharply, wide eyes narrowing. [say]"You promised we'd run,"[/say] she hisses, jerking hard on his arm, hauling them both back and out of the bubble. He wants her to channel? And he’s gonna heal? Now? Colt stares at him like he’s lost his goddamn mind. Since when was he the heroic type?

She almost drags him with her outright, ready to turn tail like they agreed—like anyone sane would. But her feet won’t move. Not with that damned voice still ringing in her ears. Not with people flinging themselves into battle like their bones were made of steel.

Her eyes have drifted back towards Sunjata though as he angles for Pierce, exposed and horribly outmatched. Suddenly it’s not about sanity anymore, it’s not about promises or plans or what’s possible. Fuck.

Colt bites her lip hard enough to draw blood. A stream of curses hisses out before she throws her will skyward, voice silent but fierce. Please, help Sunjata, he needs you. Protect him, aim for him, whatever would ensure he'd make it through this with just another scar and not something far worse.

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Hadama - 06-03-2025

He did not need to follow Pierce's eyes to know where the other man was looking. Hadama's expression revealed nothing of his inner thoughts, though they were not particularly good in that moment. But a great deal was happening around them and the arrival of Vox could not, unfortunately, be missed. The Tidebreaker waited patiently while the muscled host of their party greeted his friend - or rather, Family - and then received his answer.

He barely had time to nod before Pierce had stepped past him to grab a drink. Putting the demigod at his back, clearly unworried. It might have been a show of disdain, but Hadama accepted it philosophically.

The Void-born man had nothing to fear from him, after all. Not with his magic so thoroughly locked away. But when Flora's voice called out the Tidebreaker remained in Pierce's shadow, not yet finished with their conversation. Though Pierce, it seemed, was finished with him as Frey themselves appeared to take charge of things.

A single steely brow rose at the... display.

And then all hell broke loose.

Knives flew. Spirits were summoned. An all-out brawl broke out from several individuals he would not have thought to be involved. But Hadama kept his attention focused on the target of all the action, taking no hostile action himself even when Vox sizzled into the air on the other side of Pierce's bound body.

If he had been able to move before Vox appeared things might have been different, but he did not. Instead he backed away from the pair of Family members until he reached the edge of Pierce's sphere of influence and felt his magic flowing back into him. Breathing deeply, he looked around to consider the situation - and the several side dramas going on besides.

Hadama retreats to get outside the dome.

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Maea - 06-04-2025

Unaware of the conversations and plans that filled the ether, Maea only saw the result of them when tension erupted into chaos. Flora channeled, Deimos vanished, weapons were brandished and flung through the air - towards Pierce, now tied up by the gilded god she recognised as Frey, and Deimos, and whoever else was in the vicinity - and at the same time another scuffle broke out around Flora as someone lunged for her.

And then Liam was in the fray, and all of her intentions to stay out of range were forgotten. Dropping like a white-feathered stone towards the clump of wrestling bodies, Maea shifted mid air and tried to tackle Liam to the ground before he could hurt Kaisel.
[say]"What are you doing, stop!"[/say] she gritted out, bewildered by his choice of action. [say]"Come on, let's get out of here – "[/say] It was dangerous to linger, dangerous to hesitate, yet she wouldn't go anywhere without him.

Maea dives down from her spot in the sky, shifts back to Ancient form and attempts to tackle Liam to the ground before he can hurt Kaisel.

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Jack - 06-04-2025

Flora's voice, at complete odds with the steel of her thoughts, echoes like a firecracker at his back, bright and sparkling and inviting all sorts of retaliation from the right people. Retaliation that hopefully won't be on its way. Just in case it is, though - and Jack has already raised his lips to let out a shrill whistle that carries across the breeze to the waiting Ark - the captain is inclined to stay on the outskirts of proceedings. Not involved, but... well. Just in case.

He'd told Flora he'd have her back, after all, and as far as he can see she's still very, very visible, so until that particular danger has passed, Jack stands his ground, magic sharp for any nonsense, and watches the chaos unfold as a silent spectator. And gods, how much chaos can there reasonably be in such a small section of the coastline?

The answer - a fucking lot.

Jack lurks on the outskirts of proceedings and prepares to fuck off outta dodge if he needs to.

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Ronin - 06-04-2025

Squeezing Remi's hand right back as Flora makes her signal, Deimos responds, and all manner of hell breaks loose - gods and mortals and monsters and all - Ronin promptly dismisses his nimbus and lands lightly on the balls of his feet. He's instinctively drawn to the clump of bodies moving towards Flora and Noe, but there's already more than enough going on there, and so, as has been his custom since he'd ducked beneath Vi's wing, he does what he can to help those who can't help themselves.

Joining Zavien, Lena and Alys in their efforts to help guide people out of danger, pale draconic wings burst from the Knight's back, spreading wide to offer a shield against any fire - friendly or otherwise - that might go awry. [say]"Head straight for Haulani!"[/say] he calls to those who are departing. [say]"The city is blocked from The Family, you'll be safe there!"[/say] Nodding to the others helping to bolster the defenses, both grateful and lifted up by their efforts, he risks a glance over his shoulder to see what's unfolding.

Ronin joins the others in helping to direct people out of the dome and the party!

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Dantalion - 06-04-2025

As it turns out, both he and Astaroth are very wrong about what they've all been waiting for. It's not for The Family to make a move, but Flora, and Danta raises an eyebrow across to the Doubletake as she promptly channels fucking Frey into the proceedings. Feeling his mouth go dry, he promptly discards his food and drink and instinctively steps back as things go from bad to worse in very quick succession.

He only realises he's been trying to shift half a minute later (by which time people are piling on Flora and her assailant, and also trying to take down Thalassa), and it's with a jolt of dread and surprise that it dawns on the Maverick that he can't. [say]"There's something wrong here,"[/say] he tells Asta with a tone that might as well be a flashing sign that reads NOPE.

Stepping back further, as if to put as much distance between himself and the unfurling chaos (unusual for him, yes, but so are these circumstances), he glances to the taller Ancient with a raised brow as if to ask if he's coming. There's enough cluster in this fuck already, if you ask him, without them adding more to the mix.

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Astaroth - 06-04-2025

Watching as the tension seems to grow, palpable and strong enough that not even his teeth could tear through it, the butcher finds a frown on his face as soon as the proceedings begin. His jaw set tight when Frey appears and everything starts to flit into motion. It’s like a balloon that’s so close to popping but hasn’t quite found the abrasive surface just yet, and if given the option? He’d rather not be around to see it explode.

Looking over toward Thal when he hears her melodic voice, all the way across the event, the butcher emits a couple of curses in a language long since dead, muscles twitching as he considers heading over there.

But Danta’s at his side, telling him that something is wrong, and as he tries to light his hands with flame he finds them completely and utterly useless. Looking back as Danta steps back, then looking back to Thalassa across the way, his tail whips around his ankles as he turns to get the fuck out of the bubble and depart the chaos.

Because when it comes down to it, he’ll always pick the Maverick.

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Pierce - 06-04-2025

Apparently everyone’s ungrateful that all he wanted to do was bring them together to have some fun. And while the dome had been a good idea, in hindsight, it’s the sudden presence of one of the gods here that he’s not quick enough to get out the way of. The god talks to him and he glares with all the daggers he can - helpless, suddenly, bound, suddenly. And Pierce tests the bindings with the flex of strong muscle, stuck in place.

Oh, but not helpless.

Someone vanishes from the outskirts and before he can try and track any tracks left in the sand in the flurry, a blade pierces and lodges itself into his skin (Deimos), hissing out a curse with the bolstering baritone of his voice. Another blade comes, but at least this one he can see (Sunjata). He can’t do shit about it right now, but it sinks in just as the first one does. He grits his teeth and while still stuck, there’s gratitude when his staticky brother appears, protecting him when in reality, that should be Pierce’s job.

He supposes that just means he’s done a great job.

Before he can say anything, there’s an arrow suddenly from Melita that sinks into him too. And the brawler grits his teeth and fights against the bindings again as chaos erupts. He spots the dagger from Thalassa in the corner of his eye, he sees the way the dog piles begin to cross the beach, kicking sand up in their wake. Noe goes for Flora and before Pierce can really see what’s happening, that shitty rose makes an appearance.

At least the attention isn’t directly on him anymore, even if there’s the split second of mourning one of his favorites that had joined up. Pierce thrashes again and this time the bindings snap, a crack that sounds loud in his ears as he straightens up, blades and arrow still sticking out of him. “[say]You ungrateful little shitheads.[/say]” He snaps, the growl low and heavy, bordering on a bone grating bass.

Finding the closest person, Pierce pushes through the static that is Vox. Deimos, still invisible, is impossible to find. Melita is on his radar but he picks the person he thinks he could get to the quickest. Pierce’s blue eyes flash with anger and grating frustration, and he aims his flurry punch out at Sunjata.

Pierce aims his flurry attack at Sunjata.

Pierce HITS Sunjata.

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Flora - 06-04-2025

Flora barely has time to clock the shriek before instinct screams louder—Noe moving, and fast. There’s no time to think, no time to flinch. She ducks low and pivots, toes kicking up sand as she scrambles out of the path of what looks to her like a melting purple tentacle missile aimed straight for her ribs. One hand flies out to keep her balance as she moves, but then she catches the sound of Koa 's voice, cutting through the noise like a whipcrack. The queen twists just in time to catch sight of him and Kaisel launching in after Noe like coordinated chaos incarnate. It’s such a them moment—messy and loud and made of good intentions that are going to leave everyone sore later—and it makes her grin, even as adrenaline thrums through her limbs.

And then—yes! Her breath catches, eyes snapping toward the Dad Group and then to Pierce just in time to see her plan (aka her dagger) land. Deimos ’s strike hits clean, and for one golden heartbeat, everything aligns.

Until she realises something awful.

[say]"Oh—shit."[/say] The grin falters, eyes widening with a spark of panic as the wheels turn too fast and not fast enough. She hadn't told him how the recall worked. Her heels slip once, nearly sending her careening into a sunburned stranger with a tray of mocktails, but she catches herself and keeps going, scanning for the invisible Sword. [say]"Deimos!"[/say] she calls out, cupping her hands around her mouth. [say]"Drop the recall charm!"[/say]

She’s looking—desperately—for that golden shimmer which would indicate he'd done as she'd said. For all of the back and forth between she and the Warden about how this plan was meant to work, Flora may have forgotten one tiny detail: Deimos wasn’t a telepath and he wouldn't know what to do and in what order.

Oops.

Once she sees the charm she'll grasp at it, recalling the dagger already lodged into Pierce's side.

Flora uses her movement to get the fuck away from the Carpenter family drama and holds her action until Deimos has dropped the recall charm, at which point she'll recall the dagger in Pierce!
