RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Calypso - 06-05-2025

This chaos was the kind that her mother had warned them to avoid. And it’s a thought that sparks through her like a meteor shower as her brother’s voice hums low and commanding. She can tell Nova isn’t taking it quite as seriously as she should be, wanting to stick around and watch from afar, but Calypso’s nerves are on fire as she scoots back and away with her siblings, her amber gaze finding her sister as she snags her hand and Vesper’s.

“[say]If you can watch from Haulani, be my guest. But we ain’t stickin’ around in fightin’ range.[/say]” She mutters just as decisively. Caly will keep herself glued to her siblings until they’re far enough away and she can feel like she can breathe again without the worry of Vox’s static getting shoved down her throat.

Caly out!

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Vesper - 06-05-2025

Vesper doesn’t even look back at the chaos as Nova asks about staying. His jaw flexes once, a ripple of restrained concern slipping through his expression like an undertow. [say]"No,"[/say] he says, the word dry as driftwood, carved from salt and certainty. There’s a flicker of Nova’s curiosity, her chaos-spangled mind tugging at him like a tide—but he shuts it out with a shake of his head.

[say]"We don’t wanna be anywhere near this shit,"[/say] he mutters, and the moment he says it, the universe answers. Behind them a basilisk appears. Someone screams. Another figure is picked up and windmilled about by a creature with too many tentacles for the demigod's liking.

His shadows slam outward, unfurling like wings to form a makeshift wall between his sisters and the oncoming madness. The barrier isn’t perfect, but it's enough to try and hasten them alone. [say]"We ain’t stickin’ around to watch someone’s spine get turned inside out. I’ll get the gossip later, you’ll hear every juicy detail, I promise—"[/say] The edge of his grin flickers in place—forced, sharp, all teeth. [say]"But we’re leavin’. Now."[/say]

Vesp tells Nova absolutely no to sticking around.

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Soren - 06-05-2025

Even with the original chaos abounding around them, Soren had smirked through it. He was no stranger to tension, and part of him even thrived in it. But this was different. The air had changed as gods and men and magic and relics all clashed.

[say]“Aith,”[/say] he said, voice low, sharp, cutting through the noise. His arm tightened around her waist--not gently, not playfully. Urgently. [say]“We’re leaving.”[/say] He said, pulling her by the waist as he started to back up. His hand moved to lace into hers with the kind of grip that didn’t leave room for argument..

Then he turned, tail lashing and cocktail falling from his other hand. Soren ran, bare feet slipping and sliding in the sand. He tried his best to stay balanced while dragging Aithne behind him. Because losing Aithne to a fight she didn’t start, didn’t choose? That would destroy him. She wasn’t a relic, a weapon, or a casualty. She was fire, yes, but she was his—the part of him that still believed in something soft beneath the ash. If she fell here, among strangers, it would hollow him clean through. He couldn’t let that happen. Not ever.

Soren is LEAVING and dragging Aithne with him

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Nova - 06-05-2025

Well, with both her siblings insisting on their departure, Nova can't really argue it. She huffs out another heavy breath, glancing regretfully back before Vespy's shadows block her view. Had that been a giant snake?! And what kind of hug was that?!

She can still hear the screaming and yelling, and she wonders how much excitement she'll be missing as she trudges her feet away from the chaos. Nova shoots her brother a dejected look, cross her arms stubbornly. [say]"FINE, but you better put on a shadow movie of the fight."[/say] She can already picture them curled up at the Hanged Man, watching his shadows mime the blood and body parts and soundless terror that she missed seeing after their departure. They'd have some buttery popcorn to enjoy it with and maybe some candy to sweeten the deal.

With that in mind, Nova doesn't feel as upset about leaving, looking forward to their Pool Party Pandemonium Marathon later.

Nova reluctantly agrees to leave with Vesper and Calypso.

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Deimos - 06-05-2025

The bedlam persisted, wicked, vicious, daggers sinking in, punches being thrown, Vox wrapping around Talyson. Any semblance of remorse he would’ve felt years upon years ago remained wholly absent now for the courier, and he turned his attention back to Flora, announcing she’d received the second dagger. The task was done. He wouldn't be pressing his luck on this venture either, despite the third dagger in his hand. He withheld the relief, but he couldn’t help some of it flickering through his veins.

The only one, and he wouldn’t be reflecting upon that now, that he’d feel slightly bad about leaving behind was Sunjata – but he trusted the wily individual to be able to grab the blade or arrow and vacate the scene shortly. There wasn’t much else he could do for him, in the here and now. Cupping his hands around his mouth, he rumbled across the sands towards Flora, announcing his departure. [say]“Chicken fight over,”[/say] he commenced. At least with his departure Remi would have one less to worry about.

Then they could all meet – and ensure other matters prevailed.

Activating the compass, he immediately strived to teleport out.

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Liam - 06-05-2025

Liam was dimly aware that Koa, Kaisel, Sohalia, and Noe had left, but his attention now was focused on Maea. The battle raged on around them, but for a moment, it felt like they were trapped in a bubble of calm, even as some kind of snake creature appeared and blocked them off from the rest of the fight. He eyed it warily - he thought it might have been Noah a moment before, but he wasn’t sure. The chaos was growing, despite the fact that most people had fled.

Once, he might have been among them. He might have taken Maea’s hand and fled with her, away from the fight, without even pausing to think. But now he hesitated, his conflicted gaze going between the Ancient and the rest of the battle. Pierce and Vox were holding their own - he wasn’t worried about them. Thalassa, on the other hand… But she was strong. She’d carried him when he’d fallen, after all. She would be alright.

In the end, it boiled down to one thing: he didn’t want Maea to get hurt in the crossfire.

[say]”Alright,”[/say] he said finally, taking her outstretched hand, moving to place himself between her and the rest of the battle. But as they left, he couldn’t help but add, [say]”But you’re wrong - this is our fight.”[/say]

Liam leaves with Maea!

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Theea - 06-05-2025

I step in closer under Ronin ’s wing without thinking, the shadow of it settling over me. It's meant to shield, not smother, but for a second I wonder if this is just his way of sending me off. Getting me out of the way.

Then I look past him—over the curve of scales, toward the center of the mess. Remi, Sunjata, the others. There’s healing magic here. Plenty of it. But with the way things are going, that might not be enough. Water from the fountain in the Court of Stars could still matter.

I nod. [say]“I know it.”[/say]

My hand squeezes the hilt of my dagger before I think better of it and replace it at my thigh. No need to run through Torchline armed like I’m on a hunt. I don’t need to look dangerous, I just need to be fast.

[say]“I’ll be quick,”[/say] I promise, and flash a smile. [say]”Kind of a family trait.”[/say]

Then I turn dash up the beach, picking up speed as the noise behind me fades.

Theea’s out, off to go get water from the fountain!

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Maea - 06-05-2025

She choked back a sob of relief as Liam took her hand. With the giant basilisk there to block them from the rest of the battle they should have an easy enough time to leave - and anything else would have to wait until they were both safe. Or - as safe as could be, now that Liam had been touched by the Void.

At Liam's remark, she only hummed something indistinct in answer, afraid that anything said would only complicate this even more. Of course it was their fight - it had always been - only... now they suddenly found themselves on opposite sides. She didn't know what to do now, where they were going or how to heal him and keep him out of the Family's grasp - but the fingers that squeezed around his were not about to let go. Not for anything.

Maea leaves with Liam!

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Remi - 06-05-2025

Remi hears it—two, called from Flora, then chicken fight over from
Deimos —and the relief that swells in his chest is immediately tempered by something sharper. He can't see either of them. No shimmer. No glint. No Sword. No Queen. It doesn't mean they’re gone, but it doesn't mean that they're not, either.

His gaze sweeps the sands with mounting urgency before it lands on what is visible: Sunjata still locked in with Pierce, taking the brunt of the blows; Vox wrapping himself around Talyson in a mess of static limbs and chaos; the crowd around them thinning too slowly. Remi’s jaw feathers, teeth gritting as he shifts his stance, weight braced in the sand. [say]"Ronin !"[/say] he shouts. [say]"We need to get Sunjata!"[/say]

But something shifts at the waterline—coiling, slithering. [say]"Don’t look at the water!"[/say] he yells, turning his back to the waves as a basilisk-like shape rises just far enough for recognition to spike in his gut. [say]"Basilisk!"[/say]

The magic shifts in him again, the net of safety pulled away. A sharp lash of intent flicks from his mind toward Pierce, aimed like a finger jab between the ribs: enough to make the brawler stumble, stagger, lose momentum; for his soul to tumble free.

Remi removes his soaking magic and uses soul strike on Pierce

Magic: Soul Strike | If successful, knocks the soul out of the body. An out of body soul can't affect its environment for 1 turn during combat, or for 20 seconds in normal threads. Contested END(Remi)/STR (opponent)/LUCK roll. Range of 60ft

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Vox - 06-05-2025

The embrace ends with a sound like a VHS tape getting rewound through a meat grinder. Vox twirls Talyson once more—because he can—before gently, lovingly, horrifyingly lowering him to the sand. s[ay]"There ya go, my crunchy little blood sausage. So brave! So stabby! We’ll work on your hugging technique next time."[/say]

A pat lands on the top of Tal’s head. It is tender. It is gentle. It is—staticky enough to fry a frog.

But then—
Noe.

NOE.

Vox’s head does a slow 180º turn, not because he needs to, but because the drama demands it. She’s walking away. His Noe. Guided by her heroic entourage, back to health, back to order, back to everything he’s not.

His glasses fog from the inside.

His hat wilts.

[say]"You were the corrupted whipped cream to my static-laced sundae,"[/say] he mourns, melting in pixels onto his knees. [say]"Noe, my little terminal glitch…"[/say]

A long, painful pause.

Then he snaps upright like a poorly-written script note, eyes (???) blazing.

Pierce is moving and so Vox moved with him. He dissolves. Gone is the hat. Gone are the sunglasses. Gone is any pretense of shape at all. Static pours into the air like a broken transmission signal, violet and pulsing, orbiting the brawler in an ever-tightening cyclone.

[say]"GET ‘EM, BROTHER!'[/say] Vox howls like a radio gone feral. [say]"I’M YOUR TACTICAL BLANKET. I’M YOUR VIOLENCE AURA. I’M YOUR SUPPORTIVE LITTLE DEATH FOG."[/say]

He swirls tighter around Pierce, watching, waiting, buzzing with violent love. And the moment someone gets within striking distance—

Vox holds his turn and will strike out to infect anyone who comes within melee distance to attack Pierce.

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Zavien - 06-05-2025

Things are getting really out of hand. Zavien catches sight of Noe getting cured and the very confusing exchange of tackles around that particular crowd. He also hears (and feels) the buzz of Vox's outrage, the sensation running through him in the most unpleasant manner possible. However, the worst part isn't his voice or the strange flickering of his fuzzy form, it's what he does after

[say]"NO!!"[/say] The word echoes through him, crushing against his chest as he watches Talyson disappear into the embrace of the purple abomination. He shudders, hand outstretched, helpless to save his friend. Useless

Despair coils around his lungs and Zavien backs away from the fight, putting himself closer to Lena. There would be time to mourn his friend later, but others are fleeing and vanishing in a mass exodus. He doesn't see Flora or Deimos anymore, but Sunjata is locked in a fight with Pierce, and he can't bring himself to abandon the man after he'd brought him back from the literal dead. Luckily, he seems to have help from the other demigods who appear intent on freeing him - and Zavien knows he doesn't stand a chance against Pierce himself. Raising his sword, he continues a slow retreat, praying to all the gods that they make it out without any more loss. He takes a moment to glance at Lena, gesturing with his head as he says, [say]"We need to leave, now."[/say]

Zavien retreats and tells Lena to come with him.

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Ronin - 06-05-2025

Breathing a sigh of relief as he watches Theea exit the proceedings - because whilst he does mean it about the healing water, he's also not going to lose another member of his family to the void - Ronin turns as he also hears voices ring out. Flora. Deimos. And then Remi, shouting for him. With the crowd thinning and whoever remains knowing the direction to follow the others out, the Knight's wings tuck in tight and he whips around to face the continuing fight.

[say]"Got it!"[/say] he hopes calls, unclipping the axe from the loop at his belt and running back across the sand. As soon as he feels he's in throwing range, he lets the weapon fly directly towards Pierce's broad shoulder, hoping to add to the bloodletting for the day. He keeps his eyes firmly off the waterline and on the Family's brawler, lip curling in distaste. [say]"Remember me, you son of a bitch?"[/say] he snarls, hoping to at least drag his attention away from Sunjata for a few seconds.

Ronin runs into throwing range and yeets his axe at Pierce! He keeps his eyes on him to avoid being turned to stone lmao.

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Thalassa - 06-05-2025

Sometimes all the time Thal is too stubborn for her own good.

Snatching her dagger from the sky before it can wiz past, she pulls herself from the water, rage rolling off her in waves of her own. Her face still aches from the kick, and she's certain it will bloom into a deep purple eye to match the violet anger coursing through her. It fuels her, a pulsing reminder of the offense wrought against her and the people she feels inclined to side with.

Her lips part in a sneer as she watches the man ignore her. Part of her feels like she should be joining Pierce in whatever fun he and Vox are having right now, but then the man is shifting into a giant snake, and she gets the feeling that attacking him will serve both parties. Flicking out her second dagger, Thal lets out a low growl and flings it at the serpent's head.

RE: The Punchiest Pool Party - Sunjata - 06-05-2025

“[say]Fuck.[/say]” Sunjata curses, because not only is it an absolute horrible eldritch nightmare for the Flood to be this close to a member of the Family, but here he is. Getting his ass fucking kicked, and he’s fairly confident he’s got fists made of iron with how it feels like he’s broken at least a couple of ribs. The next attack he braces for as his hand slips away without snagging the blade, and in his retreat? Well, Sunjata grits his teeth as the nightmarish crawler closes the distance.

Another punch is sent his way, but thankfully the damage doesn’t hit how it had before, and so Sunjata - with the sudden panic of Vox’s horrific static creating a barrier, recoils easier from the punch. He hears Remi’s warning and Ronin’s snarl, and he focuses entirely on the brawler - incapable of allowing himself to look anywhere else but the biggest threat. He grits his teeth to reach out with both hands, trying to snag the arrow and the blade if he can, praying silently that he manages to grab something this time. And then, whether he does or doesn’t, retreats again.

Sunjata reaches out to try and grab the arrow and the blade and retreats again!
