Missing Mango - Sah - 09-10-2024 Sah was in Torchline for vacation, yet somehow, he'd been stabbed, ended up having to complete a side quest for his region, and now he was spending an afternoon looking for someone's lost cat. He'd stopped by the port to get a snack and had spotted a little old lady selling apples while crying. Incredibly concerned, the Wild Thunder had walked up and purchased one while asking what was wrong. It turned out that her cat had snuck out of the house that morning and she wasn't able to look for the little guy until later. She was sick with worry. So Sah had gathered some volunteers and after asking around, headed towards where the cat had been last spotted. Rae's Fingers. The cat was fast, apparently. Once the volunteers were rallied, Sah got down to business. [say]"Alright, everyone. Mango is a bright orange tabby with white socks. He's small but very friendly. Let's start by looking for any traces of him. ~ Welcome to a cat hunt PQ! Post your character's arriving and looking for clues! 1. 2. Nova 3. [/say] RE: Missing Mango - Nova - 09-16-2024 Nova had caught wind of a fun activity being advertised. Supposedly, people in Caido cared about their pets enough to go looking for them when they left. Who's to say that the cat didn't want to leave? She really couldn't understand it, but it sounded interesting nonetheless. Skipping to the entrance of the tunnels, she gave the other participants a little wave accompanied by a bright smile. Her pink floral skirt fluttered in the salty breeze, matching the light pink streak she'd added to her blonde hair. Luckily, she and her siblings had found an abundance of eccentric items in Haulani, including an array of colorful hair dyes that she was slowly working her way through. She'd also found some sparkly studs that she'd stuck by her eyes that brought out their dark blue color. Even the bright yellow glitter shoes had been acquired from a shop, catching the sunlight before she stepped into the dark. With the directions given, Nova made her way into the passageway, trailing a finger along the walls as she looked around in wonder. [say]"Mango!"[/say] Her eyes scanned for any spots of orange amongst the dark crevices while she searched for any other colors, slightly disappointed to only see black and grey. Maybe she would find some of that treasure she'd heard rumor of! Nova joins the search party!!! <3 RE: Missing Mango - Kaiden - 09-22-2024 Kaiden really didn't want to be here. The tide wasn't in so the water was shallow, but thankfully it was deep enough for the mer to swim in. It was still annoying. But the golden-eyed man had promised a free meal after they found the damn cat. And free food was free food. The other person was far too colorful and sparkly to look at for long, so Kaiden made sure to search in the opposite direction of the woman. They knew what warning colors looked like and weren't going to risk being poisoned. Turning a bend, they tried to spot anything orange or even vaguely yellow. [say]"Come here, you damn cat. I promise I won't eat you."[/say] Maybe. Did a cat named Mango taste like mangos? What did mangos taste like? Kaiden doesn't think that they've ever had one before. [say]~ Kaiden searches.[/say] RE: Missing Mango - Sah - 09-24-2024 Nova, however, found paw prints weaving along the bank further up. Their size and shape matched their quarry. Sah noticed her find and grinned, [say]"Well done."[/say] But before the group could begin to follow the trail, a loud bang was heard coming from one of the other tunnels. The Abandoned's head snapped up at the noise, his brow furrowing, [say]"We might need to check that as well. How about a pair goes after the sound and the remaining person follows the trail?"[/say] Given the uncertainty of the tunnels, safety in numbers was best. [say]~ Round 2! No post order. Sah will take what's left. 1. One to follow the trail. 2. Two to follow the sound.[/say] RE: Missing Mango - Kaiden - 09-27-2024 Kaiden let out a yelp that dissolved into angry hissing as they yanked the crab off of their face. With a furious expression and a bleeding nose, they threw the menace full force at the wall of the cave. Much to their annoyance, the crab skittered away unharmed after righting itself. Tail thrashing, the mer eyed the direction that the sudden sound had come from. [say]"I'll go look."[/say] Grumbling, they figured going into the tunnel where the water looked slightly deeper would be best. Surely the cat would have avoided it and Kaiden could make a snack of the small fish under the pretense of searching for the damn feline. They deserved a treat for surviving their trauma. [say]~ Kaiden follows the sound![/say] RE: Missing Mango - Nova - 09-28-2024 After laughing unashamedly at the suffering of the other participant, she continued her own search for Mango. Despite the dark, dreary, monotonous tones of the dark tunnel, Nova's eyes caught on the small paw prints of what she assumed belonged to their target. She knelt to inspect them, bundling her skirt to keep it off the wet floor. Being extremely inexperienced in all things tracking, she simply tilted her head in curiosity, her blond and pink hair catching the little light filtering in. The 'leader's' instructions seemed simple enough as they found her ears. Whether he'd said it or not, Nova would've followed the signs she'd been lucky enough to spot. So she hopped up and began skipping down the path. [say]"Finders followers!"[/say] She didn't think that was how the phrase went, but she didn't much care as she hummed joyfully at her discovery. It didn't seem like calling the pet's name would be enough to find it, so the young woman started wracking her brain for any other information she might have come across as she made her way farther in. She could've sworn she'd heard of cats liking fish. Wasn't that why they liked Torchline so much? It wasn't like the coastline city was lacking in aquatic animals. The merman helping was indication enough of that. So maybe she could entice the creature to her with a little trick. Since she didn't have fish with her, the scent would have to do. Waving her hand in a little wiggle of her fingers, a sparkle like little stars filtered into the air along with the subtle scent of tuna. Nova wrinkled her nose at the scent but continued down the pathway, working her magic. [say]"Mango!"[/say] Nova follows the trail, using her illusion magic to generate the smell of tuna. Illusion: Can create minor sensory effects within a 5ft radius Type: Grey | Rank: Basic RE: Missing Mango - Sah - 09-30-2024 The team splits up with the mer and Abandoned, heading down the tunnel. As Nova follows the trail, the smell of tuna wafts through the air. There's the distant sound of small feet on the sand but it pauses after a moment and no cat appears. It seems that whatever lies up ahead has realized that it's an illusion. Or it's waiting for the hybrid to emerge. [say]~ Round 3! No post order. 1. Nova, keep searching! 2. Sah and Kaiden, follow the pair of oranges![/say] RE: Missing Mango - Kaiden - 09-30-2024 Kaiden sent the woman a dirty look for laughing at them as they entered the tunnel. His free lunch followed him but the grumpy mer didn't say a word, still fuming at their humiliation. As they swam, they reluctantly scanned their surroundings, trying to find the source of the noise. The mer-shark's eyes widened as twin steaks of color and sound suddenly ran past them on the bank. Whipping around, Kaiden nearly smacked their tail against the rocks in their haste. [say]"Hey!"[/say] Wasn't there only supposed to be one orange thing down here? They didn't sign up for this shit. The man better give them double portions for their efforts. [say]~ Kaiden follows the oranges![/say] RE: Missing Mango - Nova - 10-01-2024 Totally oblivious and uncaring of the merman's glare, Nova continued her trek through the tunnels, skipping along to avoid the pockets of water littering the floor. She kept on the trail of pawprints, but became annoyed with the fishy smell, sticking her tongue out in disgust. [say]"I don't get why anyone likes that stuff."[/say] Letting the illusion vanish, she thought of other things cats might like. They were pretty much mini hunters, right? Maybe something to chase? An idea came to mind, much more her style. Her face split into a wide smile as she giggled, wiggling her fingers once more. The small starlight shifted into a colorful dot of light that she guided across the floor. It shifted enticingly, taunting any hidden creatures. [say]"Here, Mango! Come get it!"[/say] Nova uses her illusion magic as a laser pointer while she follows the paw prints. RE: Missing Mango - Sah - 10-04-2024 Sah and Coming out of the shadows to regard the team was a small, fluffy, and orange feline. He had a white sock on his left foot and regarded Nova with disdain. [say]"Foolish girl. Fake smells and fake prey."[/say] The sear cat tilted his head away with a scoff, [say]"Insufficient. Unacceptable."[/say] The pair of cats behind him also had white socks on various feet. They said nothing and peered over the talking cat's shoulder with wide eyes, looking ready to bolt again. All three cats more or less matched the description that the old lady provided. Sah raised a brow, [say]"I'm guessing one of you is Mango. Care to come with us? Your human is worried."[/say] [say]~ Last round! Figure out which one is the real Mango and catch him! Sear Cats (uncommon/mythical): Cousins of the Cat Sith, Sear Cats appear to be large, generally fluffy house cats. However, they are blessed with the ability of limited-speech and precognition. Believed to have the power to amplify Abandoned spells they are a highly sought after companion - but good luck with that or getting straight answers. They are cats after all. They are found most often on ships due to their ability to predict oncoming storms.[/say] RE: Missing Mango - Kaiden - 10-05-2024 There were too many cats and Kaiden let out a sound of disgust. Why didn't the damn cat just want to go home? They were clearly wanted and loved. Unlike someone else. There was free food and shelter there too. Stupid cat. And now one was talking. That was unexpected. Kaiden leaned forward and eyed the strange animal, [say]"What did you eat that made it possible for you to talk?"[/say] If they were lucky, it'd have the opposite effect on people and they could shove it down the throats of those that annoyed them. When none of the cats stepped up at Sah's request, the mer threw their hands up, splashing water onto the bank, [say]"Ugh! Whichever one of you is Mango, just come willingly. I promise not to eat you."[/say] Good enough. [say]~ Kaiden promised not to eat Mango if they reveal themselves and come willingly. [/say RE: Missing Mango - Nova - 10-06-2024 She stopped short when the others joined her, eyes widening at the orange cat's words. [say]"Oh! You can talk! Are you Mango?"[/say] It hadn't been specified whether or not their target was a sear cat, making Nova more curious about how pets worked and what made people want them. If they were all this rude, she wasn't sure why people would put up with them. However, talking cats were a very interesting topic. Maybe they kept a sear cat as a trophy? Which was all the more reason to support the cat running away in the first place. Nova's head cocked as she looked between the three cats. [say]"Does Mango want to go back?"[/say] If the sear cat wasn't the one they were looking for, maybe it knew whether their target was a beloved pet out of preference or coercion. Then they could determine whether to leave it or possibly convince the sear cat to let it go. Meanwhile, Nova twirled a piece of pink hair in her fingers, enjoying the sensation. Nova asks whether Mango wants to return. RE: Missing Mango - Sah - 10-06-2024 The seer cat hissed at Sah sighed, [say]"Then would you please tell us which of you is Mango so that we can bring you home?"[/say] The seer cat stared at the trio for a long moment before finally nodding. "We are Mango. We all go." With that, the seer turned around and began herding the other two forward. The Wild Thunder and a hand through his hair, [say]"Alright then."[/say] The Old lady could sort it out from here. She'd hopefully be able to pick out which cat was hers once they brought the trio back. As the group began to head back to the port, the seer cat climbed up Nova's leg and perched on her shoulder. He remained there for the duration of their walk. When, they got to the port, the old lady came running, [say]"Mango!"[/say] She held out her arms and the two silent cats jumped into her waiting arms. The seer stepped forward and twined around her legs. The lady beamed at the group, [say]"Thank you so much for finding him!"[/say] Looking down at her cat(s) she smiled, [say]"Let's go have lunch."[/say] As the small family turned to leave the seer at looked back at the trio and gave a nod, [say]"She thinks we are one cat."[/say] And that was that. [say]~ Thank you for joining this silly and pointless leveling PQ! XD[/say] -[FIN] |
