ready, set, let's go - Sunjata - 09-14-2024 Ah, Mourn. A somber place, but one that was meant for reflection, offerings, and a multitude of serenity in between the path that would guide visitors between the Boondocks and the Barrows. It seemed like a perfect location – one for their little quaint town that has taken a little bit more of a delay than anticipated (he’s blaming the fact that y’know, dealing with the infection and more personal things like the proposal that would be happening this season). Either way, the day starts off cool, a cloud cover that’s brought glittering dew amongst the grasses that blow in a smooth and gentle wind. Humidity is a challenge, but thankfully nothing quite like Torchline had been. At the very least, he’d gotten the material here in droves of carts with letters sent to both PQ+ to build a town in King’s End!! Please post your character arriving. We’ll have plenty of material and we have volunteers to help speed things up :3 Must be completed by October 14th! 1. 2. Isla 3. Sunjata RE: ready, set, let's go - Lena - 09-15-2024 It'd been some seasons ago since the request had been made, but Lena still had set aside some time to fly her way over to King’s End at the appointed time and hour. Mittens came along too, hovering over her shoulder until they touched down, and then searching and smelling the scene around them. Eventually, she hitched her bag up her shoulder and carried on, content with the land unfurling before them. Mourn was a beautiful place, and despite its namesake, she’d never done so within its midst – savoring the beauty, rather than sinking into the doldrums. Pinning her hair up at the wave of humidity, she quietly walked into the scene, granting a wave towards the Flood and other cohorts. [say]“Quite a setup you have here,”[/say] she granted eventually with a warm smile, surveying the amount of materials, and work to be done. [say]“Where do we start?”[/say] -- [say]Lena has brought her healing staff, bandages, rope, canteens filled with water, and some snacks laden in her bag (just in case). [/say] RE: ready, set, let's go - Isla - 09-16-2024 Bringing two healers on board to build a town, Sunjata? One might almost think you're expecting something to go wrong out here. Isla, of course, sets off as soon as the letter arrives, and although it's strange to take a commercial skyship rather than La Verbena, she still gets there with plenty of time to spare. Wearing a knee length sundress paired with some sturdy walking boots and a floppy hat to keep the sun off her neck and shoulders, as she spots the Flood and [say]"Long time no see,"[/say] she chimes in greeting, shiftng her bag on her shoulder; like Lena, she's brought water, a basic first aid kit and a few lightweight folded scarves in case anyone needs to protect themselves from the heat as time goes on. [say]"Ready when you are!"[/say] Isla arrives with some medical supplies, water, and lightweight scarves/shawls in case anyone needs some shade from the sun! RE: ready, set, let's go - Sunjata - 09-16-2024 When wouldn’t he expect something to go wrong? He’s the one that always manages to find trouble one way or another, after all. So as the two women arrive, Sunjata’s crooked smile shifts to greet the two of them in turn. “[say]Thanks, glad you could make it.[/say]” He hums to Lena first, before his attention flickers to Isla with that same bright smile. “[say]Hey stranger.[/say]” Comes the teasing, accented drawl, before he’s pushing off the pile of lumber and clasping his hands together. “[say]Alright, so, to start I was figuring the start of the town could be just off the road here.[/say]” The one Talyson had been so great as to do for him. “[say]But, there’s a whole bunch of wildlife within. So while we mark the plots, maybe Lena you could try and figure out a way to make sure we aren’t bothering them too much?[/say]” Glancing between the women and the volunteers, the Flood then peers out toward the grasses. “[say]I know for sure there are blink hare dens.[/say]” Alright! First things first, plotting out the land and relocating/figuring out what to do with the blink hares! :D No post order! RE: ready, set, let's go - Isla - 09-16-2024 [say]"Nowhere near as strange as you,"[/say] Isla quips back affectionately to Sunjata, before she falls quiet to listen to his initial plans for the town. Now, given that she's the Ancient of the group, perhaps it's a bit of a knee-jerk reaction to say that the Remedy has ideas about what they might do with the blink hares (it's eat them, FYI), but luckily Jata seems content to give that task to their resident caretaker of animals. Definitely for the best. [say]"Alright - I'm happy to start plotting things out. I'll be sure to let you know if we see anything that looks like a blink hare den. Or any other wildlife, for that matter,"[/say] she says with a decisive nod. So saying, Isla heads off to a few of the volunteers to collect some tools to start marking out the roads and potential buildings and houses, promptly heading off into the 'town'. Or what will be the town, eventually. Isla helps to plot! RE: ready, set, let's go - Lena - 09-16-2024 The Caretaker grew even more pleased to see Isla here – fellow healers and all that – and gave a generous wave and smile as the Ancient approached. [say]“Hopefully things go better here, hm?” [/say]She laughed; and could about it now – but their mission into the Feverlands had been plenty terrifying. Then she was listening to instructions. Truth be told, she wouldn’t know the first thing about building a town – not when Stormbreak had been well and wholly developed by the time she was born. But she did understand animals, and if that was the sole reason she was here, she’d certainly try to be as capable as could be. [say]“Sure. I’ll see if I can persuade them to find new venues.”[/say] After all, it wouldn’t be safe for any blink hare to be underfoot – and the things were so skittish anyway, it might have been better for them to relocate. So heading in the direction of the dens, she immediately began coaxing with gentle lulls, a calm and compassionate follow me accord through Attuned measures, hoping to lead them outward, into better circumstances and away from the area. -- [say]Lena tries to coax the blink hares away from the area, and into a new one. (Beastmaster) can compel any sentient animals not marked with a ☆ for assistance (6 large, 12 medium, 20 small) Can speak to rare creatures/companions/regular animals Regional Score bonus: +1 in all shrine visits, drops, PQ+s, KQs, etc. (You must post this at the bottom of any post where a +1 should be included)[/say] RE: ready, set, let's go - Sunjata - 09-16-2024 Luckily for Lena, she’s got both Isla and Sunjata here, who are two people that set up the very first large building in the region to help her out – and her expertise had been required for ensuring (much like he had done for the Refuge) that the wildlife hadn’t been too impacted by such ventures. So as they break and the crew begins to spread out – fanning out over the ground that would become that of the town, volunteers call out from varying spaces for Lena’s help with blink hare dens. Upon Lena’s approach, where the blink hares would ordinarily start darting out of the way to try and evade the humans passing by their way, the attuned and her abilities work perfectly to soothe the anxiety of the blink hares of three nearby dens, of which group together around her like she’s a Disney princess, ready to be directed to a safer space. Isla and Sunjata take up plotting with their group of volunteers, and it starts off well before trouble starts to come their way. Places are marked for each home – opting for a townhouse kind of style, two stories with little gardens and the occasional space for a shop to be placed, plotted and marked with sticks measured out the appropriate distances. Sunjata manages to get half of the first street done by the time he looks over to see how the Ancient and her group are doing. It's on the second house plotted that Isla encounters an issue – trying to plant the stick to measure out the plot seems to not want to go into the earth. Upon further inspection, it looks like a large rock has been grown over by grasses and moss, preventing it from being placed. It’s hard to say just how deep the rock goes from here as well. Lena succeeds in getting three blink hare dens to follow her! Isla encounters a large rock that’s preventing from placing the markers for the plots! Whattya do? No post order <3 RE: ready, set, let's go - Lena - 09-17-2024 Pleased and delighted to see so many hares scamper to her, and unaware of any Disney princess vibes, she maintained the perfected level of calm, composure, and compassion, the benevolence, ease, and serenity passing through Attuned motions, so even if the animals didn’t understand her words, they’d at least adhere to her quiet requests. [say]We’re going to a safer area[/say], she mentioned as they walked across the grounds, away, away, away from the townsfolk, loud noises, and any scary formations hastened by the workers. So she led them outside the designated sections, and towards a more open plain – gentle rolling hills, where dens might be rebuilt or found, where enough plentiful grass grew, and where they’d be able to find from multitudes of predators. [say]Let’s try here[/say], she encouraged, warm and bright. -- [say]Lena tries to lead the blink hares into a safer area outside the town. (You must post this at the bottom of any post where a +1 should be included)[/say] RE: ready, set, let's go - Isla - 09-17-2024 So far so good, at least from [say]"Huh."[/say] Furrowing her brow as she and her group attempt to plot out the house, Isla conjures a lick of fire to burn away the grass and moss, revealing the full size of the large boulder that's in the way. [say]"I wonder if we could break it into smaller pieces? Although I suppose if it goes down too deeply, it might affect the foundation of this house..."[/say] Still, it's worth a try, and she directs a few volunteers with pickaxes to try and chip through the surface of the stone to break it up where they can move it. Isla burns away the grass and moss to see the full size of the rock. She then directs some volunteers with pickaxes to try and break it up into smaller pieces! RE: ready, set, let's go - Sunjata - 09-17-2024 The blink hares are more than happy to hop after Lena, confident that the caretaker has their best interest in mind when it came to finding the new place to be. And Sunjata is equally as awed as he takes his little break to watch the creatures hop and teleport after the stunned. It immediately makes him miss the abilities he used to have, so he focuses on returning to his work with his volunteers, leaving the blink hare relocation to Lena. They spread out at her discretion, seeking out new dens and new places to make their own without so much of a fuss. Isla’s luck starts again, as the crew hauls their pickaxes over and starts to break apart the slab. She’ll find that it doesn’t go that deep and looks more like a flat but long piece probably only about a foot and a half deep. Sunjata’s luck runs out for the most part as well, at least as he goes to mark more plots. He and his group come across a fallen tree that they start to lift, moving out of the way when he notices a little group of a few mouseshrooms that have used the trunk as a home. They start squeaking their dismay as the tree trunk is lifted; causing them to pause with it lifted in the air. “[say]Got some mice here, Lena![/say]” Sunjata calls over toward her, missing his own abilities for perhaps the first time in so long. But he waits for her to arrive to calm the mice so they can move the log. Lena gets the blink hares relocated! Isla finds out the slab isn’t that deep and can be cleaned out and their plotting can continue! And Sunjata finds a tree trunk with upset mouseshroons! No post order <33 RE: ready, set, let's go - Lena - 09-17-2024 Quite content with the progress the hares had made, she continued her rampant encouragement, and was all the more content as they ran amidst the hills in great aplomb, blinking and teleporting and eventually vanishing out of sight – safe, for now, and out of the confinement of the town. Upon her return, however, it seemed she’d be running around after more rodents, and she gave an earnest smile as she heard the outcry over mouseshrooms – lovely little creatures, but she could understand the concerns. She quickly investigated the log to see their frightened faces, and then reached into her pockets, placing treats in her hands. [say]Don’t worry, little ones[/say] she assured, holding out her palms so they might be enticed to jump into her gentle hold, and out of the wood. While it certainly had been their home, they were now at a risk of being harmed and mauled in the process of so much other work. [say]I can take you somewhere safer.[/say] -- [say]Lena tries to coax the mouseshrooms into her hands using beastmaster and treats. (You must post this at the bottom of any post where a +1 should be included)[/say] RE: ready, set, let's go - Isla - 09-17-2024 Content to leave Disney Princess Assisting in transporting the stone into the cart, once all is said and done, Isla is a little out of breath and her hands are dirty, but she is overall content with the work they've done. Pausing for her group to have some water, once they are all happy to continue, she approaches the hole that has now been made. [say]"Let's fill this in with some excess dirt and pack it down? It should be nice and flat for the plot we put here then."[/say] Isla breaks apart the stone, and then she and her volunteers transport it out of the way for later use. She then suggests that they fill in the leftover hole before they plot the house. RE: ready, set, let's go - Sunjata - 09-17-2024 The mouseshrooms, clearly upset by their home being lifted from the ground, are difficult when it comes to Lena’s attempts to guide them off of the log. It isn’t until the second attempt that one of the mouseshrooms smells the scent of the treats, squeaking with curiosity as it jumps and collects one, nibbling on it immediately and chirping to the others about the reward received. The rest follow after, allowing for Lena to find them a new home or to trail after Sunjata and his volunteers as they find a new space to place the log that they can continue to live in. Isla’s group collects all the broken up rocks in carts, moving them out of the way before one of the volunteers suggests breaking them up further for some kind of gravel to repurpose it. But for now, they ignore the rocks in favor for bringing over some of the dirt after their little water break, filling the hole and flattening it so Isla and them can continue to plot out the markers for the buildings. Lena to help relocate the mouseshrooms! Isla to continue on plotting! No post order <33 RE: ready, set, let's go - Lena - 09-17-2024 Though it took far more time to coax them out of their log, she eventually had them all secured in her grasp. Feeding them more treats to keep them subdued and content for the moment, she pondered over the potential decisions. She could release them out into the midst, as the blink hares had been happy to do so, but where these creatures were smaller, and had likely seen less of the world, she wondered how they’d cope. So instead of launching outward like she had previously, she followed Sunjata, figuring the answer would depend on her inquiry’s result. With a slight smile, she figured he’d find the question odd or trivial, but she persisted nonetheless. [say]“Will that log be moved again?” [/say] -- [say]Lena keeps the mouseshrooms entertained while she asks Sunjata about the log.
