c’est la vie - Kiada - 09-16-2024

Flashing a grin over her shoulder to Charlie, it’s the first time she’s used the portal since it’s been made. And gods if it isn’t so easy to just take one step and be thousands of miles away to retrieve what they needed for the next little quest. Smolder blossoms, a flower she doesn’t remember seeing before, but one that sounds pretty and easy enough to snag.

She's brought a fireproof bag with her too, to collect them and keep them from burning up whatever they put it into. And at the very least, the two Ancients were fireproof so they needn’t worry about burning themselves on the blooms. “[say]Have you seen these before?[/say]” She asks curiously, trying to keep her bright gaze peeled for the flowers in question.

[say]"Nope!"[/say] Grinning at Kiada, Charlie takes their combined ignorance as a challenge, not that she necessarily expects it to be very difficult to find the red blooms that they were after. Not much grew in the Climb and of those that did, hardly any had petals.

[say]"Soooooo, how's wedding planning?"[/say] Smiling widely enough for her fangs to be easily seen, the priestess gives her tail a pointed flick of excitement before skirting around a few loose looking boulders. [say]"I've never met Fox. I think I did see him at the Ball, but everything was so overwhelming back then I'm not sure I could pick him out of a lineup."[/say] Charlie admits with a small shrug. [say]"What's he like?"[/say]

“[say]Me neither.[/say]” Kia says with a soft laugh that leaves from her lips. Shaking her head as they continue to scan along the volcanic outcroppings from the Climb and for any pop of red that might suggest they’ve found their prize. At first, she thinks she’s spotted one once they’ve slipped past the loose boulders — but she realizes shortly after that they’re simply just outcroppings of rubies glinting in the low light.

“[say]It’s slow going, but going![/say]” She offers with a soft smile, one that turns a bit brighter and sweeter as Charlie asks about Fox. “[say]He’s really kind.[/say]” Kinder than me. “[say]He’s always the first one willing to help out. He’s a monster hunter, so I guess it goes with the territory. But I used to run the guild a long time ago, too, so we have that in common.[/say]” Kiada was far more the bloodstained type than Fox was, and she often found herself preferring to soak in unfathomable amounts of it if only to keep his hands clean. “[say]He used to be Ascended, too. So that’s just another thing to add to the list.[/say]” Snickering softly with the thought, even if they both didn’t enjoy being Ascended, becoming Ancient has certainly made up for it. “[say]You’d like him, I think.[/say]”

Suddenly spotting another cropping of red in her peripheral, she hops over a little stream of magma to get closer, pointing to it with a questioning look back at Charlie.

RE: c’est la vie - Charlie - 09-28-2024

[say]'Do you have a date picked out or anything?'[/say] The idea of marriage wasn't something that Charlie was unfamiliar with, but she didn't doubt that it was likely done quite differently in this here and now than what she was used to.

Beaming as Kiada described her fiance, Charlie laced her fingers together, tucking her hands beneath her chin and shooting her counterpart a bright smile as she concluded. [say]"He sounds amazing. I'd love to meet him one day."[/say] Hopefully before the wedding, but Charlie would understand if he was busy. There were more than a few monsters in their little part of the world, and no doubt Fox had his own wedding-related tasks to take care of. [say]"How'd you two meet?"[/say]

Following Kiada's gaze, Charlie grins, dart!ing a little ways ahead of Kiada before nodding and flapping her hand at the registrar to draw her closer. [say]"Look at them all!"[/say] The smolder blossoms pulsed and swayed in what little breeze there was, the vibrant red of their petals like a burst of flame amidst the otherwise rocky landscape.

RE: c’est la vie - Kiada - 09-30-2024

“[say]No, not yet.[/say]” She admits with a small huff of a laugh – too caught up with the day to day and simply being in love that the Harpy hasn’t exactly nailed anything down. It seemed so… Mechanical, to a point. Picking flowers and going to see Hotaru to get the dress made, finding a location, ensuring that everything would be perfect for it. Already she seems a touch overwhelmed by the thought, given how any hopes of marriage had promptly died the day Ru’in had.

Oh, but Caido had other plans it seemed.

“[say]I’m sure you will.[/say]” Kiada says, shaking herself out of the funk that those thoughts were trying to pull her down as she goes on to explain how she’d met Fox – a sly, foxlike smile crosses over her face and she leans briefly toward her as she spots the blooms. As Charlie promptly darts away, a soft laugh chimes out of the Harpy before she’s trailing after the shorter Ancient, leaning over the blooms in awe at their beauty. “[say]He got tangled up in cloud spider webs and I helped get him out. He seemed pretty embarrassed that I found him like that, I think he wanted to make a good impression initially.[/say]” She says with a small conspiratory snicker, before she’s reaching down to pluck one of the flowers, inspecting it. Luckily for them, being fire proof and all that, it does little to her hand as she picks it up despite feeling the heat radiating from it.

And given that there’s so many of them, she reaches over to tuck this particular bloom into the beautiful curls of blonde adorning her fellow Ancient’s head. “[say]They’re really beautiful.[/say]” She comments – finding a small sense of similarity between her and the small blossoms – their resilience in such a hard place to grow and thrive.

Reminiscing momentarily, she then snags the pack she'd brought with her so they can start filling it with the blossoms.

RE: c’est la vie - Charlie - 10-02-2024

[say]"Welllllllllllllllll, if you need anything at all, just ask!"[/say] Charlie chimes brightly, her smile once again running away with her as she flashes her companion a toothy grin.

Having never seen a cloud spider before (though based on the name alone she absolutely could picture one in her mind), Charlie's own laughter accompanies Kiada at the mention of her fiance having wanted to make a good impression. [say]"Aww, I bet this is better than anything he could have come up with though."[/say] She hums, delighted. [say]"I mean, how much more boring would that story have been if it was just him coming up to you while you were out hunting and saying something clever."[/say] Charlie, who loved a good bit of drama, would have found that awfully boring. She'd have been just as happy for the Harpy of course.

Lifting her chin as her hair is adorned with the blossom, Charlie strikes a pose (her hands on her cheeks, blue eyes wide, one shoulder coquettishly raised). [say]"How do I look?"[/say] Laughing, the priestess bounces her eyebrows before she too is sweeping down to pluck the blossoms until their stems fill her hands. [say]"These could be nice wedding flowers."[/say] She hums innocently, tail flicking behind her.

RE: c’est la vie - Kiada - 10-02-2024

“[say]I will![/say]” Kiada chimes, basking briefly in the brilliant smile that greets her from the other Ancient. And it’s something that settles softly on the Harpy’s face as she reminisces over how they’d met – and truly, Charlie’s right. It would have likely been less show stopping had Fox been actively trying to talk to her. But again, he seemed a touch shy at first around her, perhaps he might not have even struck up the nerve to talk to her.

Ah, but she could gush and gush about it all day if given the chance, and she’s careful to remind herself that while the questions were asked, she probably didn’t need to go into each and every nitty gritty detail. “[say]He got his chance to save me when I got tangled up in the webs after honestly making fun of him a little bit.[/say]” She offers with a cheshire grin and a huff of a laugh as she plucks one of the blooms to place in Charlie’s hair.

And with the pose that she strikes, the harpy chimes another laugh, one that ends with a soft and sweet smile. “[say]Gorgeous.[/say]” She says matter of fact – though imagining that Charlie could likely make a trash bag look good. But she plucks the blooms and starts to fill the bags, considering the suggestion made as the thought blooms into her mind. They were one of her favorite colors, after all. And it was something distinctly Ancient that no one else could touch. “[say]Maybe we can steal a few extra to sprinkle into the bouquet?[/say]” She suggests, bouncing a brow toward Charlie.

Surely Danta didn’t need all of the blossoms, right?

RE: c’est la vie - Charlie - 10-06-2024

[say]'Aww, see!"[/say] Widening her blue eyes, the priestess lets herself imagine what it must have been like for the two former-ancients to trade the role of saviour back and forth. [say]"I know there's nothing wrong with just bumping into someone and having your story start that way, but personally I sort of love a good misadventure."[/say] Grinning so hard that her eyes wrinkled with the force of her amusement, Charlie gave her tail a flick for good measure as Kiada adjusted the blossom behind her hair.

[say]"Right? Did Danta even say how many we needed?"[/say] Whatever the number based on the patch of blossoms they'd come across, they could easily pluck a few extra handfuls of them. Even if Kiada didn't end up using them (or if the pair had to come back later for more), they'd look good in the Temple or in vases on bedside tables in the meantime.

RE: c’est la vie - Kiada - 10-07-2024

“[say]It definitely makes it more fun, especially when there’s that tinge of embarrassment.[/say]” She teases with a huff of a laugh, finding clear agreement in Charlie’s statement. Now, in Kiada’s history, she hasn’t had a whole lot of friends that she didn’t consider family, but she thinks that Charlie might be the closest thing she has to it so far. And it’s a largely warming feeling, these days, yet again a sensation she isn’t sure how to quite handle.

So she plucks blooms and fills the bags alongside the priestess, snorting under her breath as she shakes her head to the question. “[say]Nope. Maybe so long as we fill the bags it’ll be enough.[/say]” And if they have to come back, well, they could. But it should be a good start. And she continues to pluck until her bag is brimming and hard to close without smashing the flowers, before she turns toward Charlie to see how she’s doing. “[say]Ready to head back?[/say]”

RE: c’est la vie - Charlie - 10-07-2024

[say]"And if it isn't, it isn't like it's hard to get back here anymore."[/say] Charlie agrees with a bouncy shrug of her shoulders. With the bonfire, reaching the Climb was as easy as anything, and a little bit fun too if the priestess was to be asked. What ancient didn't like the idea of making their way across an entire continent simply by stepping into a pillar of fire?

Having similarly filled her bag, as Kiada glances her way, Charlie beams and nods. Holding one bloom, the priestess holds it out for the harpy. [say]"So Fox can see."[/say] She offers with a toothy grin before standing and nodding back toward the direction of the Cathedral. [say]"Yep!"[/say]

So saying the pair set off with Charlie filling the silence with accounts of her lack of a love life, but with interesting tales just the same.
