menaces to society - Melita - 11-09-2024

Ludo had wanted chaos – and thus Melita figured she had a permit approved license on all things ridiculous. Especially to the prim and proper world of Stormbreak.

A semblance of a plan had come together (impulsively), and Koa might’ve only had himself to blame. Prior trainings with colored sand everywhere had prompted the demigod to manifest it into another branch of wickedness. Why not water balloons?

She couldn’t have done so within Torchline; they would’ve immediately suspected her. Nor would it have been nearly as humorous; she could picture most of the citizens tolerating the rampant stupidity. She’d already haunted King’s End enough, and figured maiming the locals wouldn’t make many want to move to her uncle’s region. Halo was too cold. She had no inclination towards the Hollowed Grounds except nostalgia and regrets. Stormbreak, with all its pompous regard, would suit her notions quite nicely (especially when recruiting the Dragoon to help – which felt like another sinister little edge).

Having already extended her invitations to the right people, she waited for them on top of a nearby roof, barely outlined by the setting sun. She figured not many would even glance up here – giving her ample time to maneuver and get things ready, including a large amount of water balloons in a box. Some even had fun little things inside (…ducks)!

--

[say]This is a PQ+/SE for Ludo games – welcome to the Stormbreak water balloon fight! Magic/items/shifts/etc. will be permitted. Have your characters show up on the roof with Mel, list anything/everything they’re bringing, and we’ll get started!

The PQ+ must be completed by December 9th!

1. Melita
2. Koa
3. Mateo
4. Flora[/say]

RE: menaces to society - Koa - 11-09-2024

Mel's invitation had been met with a healthy dose of trepidation, mixed with curiosity that couldn't be denied. Part of him has rationalized that whatever the little demon has planned cannot be that bad, because if it was there's no way she'd invite a senior ranking Dragoon to join in.

Another, far more realistic part strongly suspects that this may be a trap.

But he's been brooding for so long, and it's gotten fucking exhausting. So maybe he needs a little chaos, a little letting loose. He shows up in off-duty clothes, a black t-shirt and torn black jeans. Hauling himself up the last rung of the ladder, he stretches dramatically before dropping his arms, grinning broadly at Mel. [say]"Morning, Zombee."[/say] Striding toward his chaotic friend, he offers her a hug before glancing around, trying not to look too suspicious as he takes in the various accoutrements.

[say]"So... whatever you're planning isn't going to get anyone hurt, right? I know I'm off duty, but... well, y'know."[/say] He laughs, running a hand through his hair and trying not to seem too dubious about whatever's about to unfold, and having no idea exactly how much he's going to regret this in about a minute's time.

Accepting this invitation was a terrible mistake.

Just... not in the way Koa expects.

RE: menaces to society - Flora - 11-10-2024

In an creamy long-sleeve shirt, dark (and tight) jeans and knee-high leather boots, Flora looked as though she'd recently stepped out of one of Stormbreak's more fashionable boutiques. (And, in fact, she had). With her long hair in a golden plait down her back and her arm linked through her brother's, the queen was filling the botanist in on how Sunjata's recent proposal to her mother had gone. [say]"You would have died. She was so excited."[/say] She gushes, having tried to soften the blow of both Remi and Enzo having been present by explaining that Remi was only there out of necessity, and given that Mateo didn't actually know Hotaru or Sunjata, that his presence while always enjoyable, probably would have been a bit awkward.

[say]"Anyways, if you're up for it, I was going to suggest that you handle all of the florals for the wedd..in..g.."[/say] Peering up to the rooftop that they were meant to meet on, Flora tugged sharply at their linked arms, flashing a wide-eyed look of concern over her shoulder at Mateo as the air drains from her lungs. [say]"ohmygods, why is he here?!"[/say] Whispered sharply under her breath, the queen swallows hard as colour blooms in her cheeks. Heart hammering, Flora feels suddenly both over and under dressed, both wildly out of place but also a touch excited to see the dragoon again.

[say]"I haven't even seen him since...well, you know."[/say] Biting at the inside of her cheek and resisting the urge to glance back toward the rooftop to see what Koa might make of her presence, Flora clears her throat. [say]"Do I look okay?"[/say]

RE: menaces to society - Mateo - 11-10-2024

Understanding Flora's reasoning and hating it all the same - happy families abound, but never for you, Mateo! - the botanist nonetheless is full of dimpled smiles as they approach this little meeting point. If nothing else, apparently he's considered the right person for this. Dressed in an extravagant green coat whose hood is lined with fur and a pair of white denim overalls, accompanied by a stocky pair of brown leather boots, even that additional couple of inches of height isn't enough for him to properly make out the figures on the rooftop.

Luckily, Flora's eyes are incredibly sharp.

[say]"Merda!"[/say] Stumbling a bit in surprise and blinking a few times before recognising Koa, he winces and glances to his sister, nudging her shoulder affectionately. [say]"You look perfect, sorellina. You focus on whatever this activity is. I will make myself indispensable to Koa."[/say] He's quite good at it actually, he thinks, his coat billowing behind him as he climbs to the rooftop to greet Dragoon and redhead.

[say]"I have arrived, and so the party can begin!"[/say] he announces, moving to clasp Koa's upper arms and plant a kiss on each of his cheeks. [say]"We are going to get through this, and then we are going to have a very strong drink, si?"[/say]

RE: menaces to society - Melita - 11-10-2024

No one ever actually told Melita about the whole Koa and Flora and Jack love triangle, so she merely ignored the entire back and forth whispering nearby, and opted for an eye roll at the Dragoon’s expense. [say]“Evening Koa. And hurt? Of course not.”[/say] A shocked face followed for pretenses, as if the Honeybee had ever done anything to get someone maimed…

Right so we’re not thinking about that.

Instead, she held up a water balloon that happened to be on top of the pile. [say]“Look, some even have ducks in them!”[/say] Her smile grew much larger – very proud of herself. Waving over Flora and Mateo to listen in on the rules, she took out a single piece of paper where she’d jotted down the most impulsive and intrusive thoughts. [say]“All right, here we go. The goal is to get the most points by the end of the game. You may use shifts, magic, items, etc. to aid in your attempts. You may also hit your fellow competitors.”[/say] Figuring most of them would be soaked by the end of it, she shrugged and moved on. [say]“If you get caught or fall off a roof, you will lose points.”[/say] And potentially be injured, but eh. Glancing up from her paper, she tilted her head, waiting. [say]“Any questions?”[/say]

From there – they’d be able to see the outline and stretch of people below, flowing in and out of the city area. As it was early evening, it was teeming with life – some wide-eyed tourists glancing about, dazed and confused, some small groups of children holding onto a rope led by some poor daycare worker, and some older individuals slowly meandering through the square.

Melita waited until inquiries had flown through, before grabbing several water balloons in her grasp. [say]“Let’s start then!”[/say] came on a whisper instead, already beginning to slink away on the shingles.

RE: menaces to society - Koa - 11-12-2024

And there it is.

Koa feels his blood pressure change as Flora pulls herself up the ladder, the cold drain of shock followed swiftly by a hot rush of panic. He hasn't seen her since she broke his heart their breakup, and while he'd figured it was inevitable they'd cross paths again, he hadn't expected it to be so soon, or on an occasion where he'd be so unprepared. [say]"Oh, fuck,"[/say] he whispers under his breath, briefly (and strongly) debating bailing on the whole affair.

But that would be a coward's way out. And Koa refuses to be a coward today.

Forcing on a too-bright smile, Koa returns Mateo with a level of enthusiasm that skirts the border of hysteria. [say]"A drink sounds great!"[/say] he agrees slightly too-loudly, slapping his friend on the back and pointedly not looking to see how Flora is responding. Still trapped in his panic grin and trying to ignore the ringing in his ears, he claps his hands and rubs them together, turning to Mel for her instructions, desperate to get going on whatever this is.

Which is... chaos. The kind of chaos Koa, as a Dragoon, should really be discouraging, but it's way too late for that. Still he's appalled and coherent enough to protest, [say]"Not the old people, c'mon--"[/say] before shaking his head in resignation, palm rubbed against his head. Why did Mel invite him to this? [say]"Just... try not to hurt anyone? I don't want to make an arrest for assault today."[/say]

And then he dips into the water balloons, hurtling one towards where Mel is retreating in an attempt to keep the demigoddess from mauling his citizens too badly.

Koa PANICS, overcorrects, asks everyone to please not assault old people so he doesn't have to arrest them, and throws a balloon at Mel!

RE: menaces to society - Flora - 11-12-2024

[say]"Thank you."[/say] Flora wasn't ready yet to face the consequences of what she'd put Koa through, despite reliving those last few moments they'd had together more often than she'd like to admit. Parting from Mateo, despite the dragoon's far too bright voice in her ears, the queen glued herself at Mel's side with a frown that she thought she was doing a far better job of hiding than she actually was. [say]"I'm going invisible, but I'm right here."[/say] She whispers hastily, twisting the ring on her finger while wondering if Koa would notice her doing it and chide her for once again using her abilities to run away.

Where once Flora would absolutely have made some filthy comment about arrests (handcuffs, frisking, maybe being restrained), she found herself only choking on the memory of when such quips were commonplace between she and the dragoon, before seeing—because now she could look at him without him knowing about it, see?—Koa wind up to throw a water balloon at Mel.

[say]"Duck!"[/say]

Which, probably not a useful thing to yell out given how many of them there were.

Peering over the roof, safe in the knowledge that she was invisible, Flora targeted a horribly dull looking man strolling below.

Flora goes invisible and targets a boring looking man!

RE: menaces to society - Mateo - 11-14-2024

[say]"Doesn't it?"[/say] Mateo chirps, offering a reassuring smile over his shoulder to his sister before she promptly disappears - and you know, that might actually be for the best given the situation. Turning to listen to Melita's rules, whilst Koa might believe in being Good and Right and all those noble virtues, it's safe to say that the botanist takes after his less knightly father in that regard. [say]"It wouldn't be an arrest for assault, it would just be for... mischief,"[/say] he objects.

But then Koa is flinging a water balloon directly at their glorious leader(?) and Mateo is turning to the other available targets. Whilst the old people are tempting (he'd throw them gently, okay?), he's much more keen to pelt people who won't be around to hold grudges for too long. Thus, seizing a balloon of his own, he hurls it towards one of the unsuspecting tourists, then tries to duck down to the ground.

Mateo targets one of the tourists, then tries to hide!

RE: menaces to society - Melita - 11-14-2024

Melita could hear Koa complaining, but the sentiments didn’t quite take hold in her mind. [say]“Sure,”[/say] she shrugged, with a casual air of indifference and wholly disregard for authority taking over. Within a wink, she was invisible, gone across the roof, ducking upon Flora’s warning and skittering off to the side. The Dragoon’s balloon popped, rather unceremoniously, against some siding.

With no need to hide due to her intangible status, the Honeybee swiftly chucked her own armament at an unsuspecting tourist, and listened to the satisfying plop and surprised outcry below.

Flora ’s invisibility worked like a charm as well, sending her balloon skittering into a dull looking man – whose expression didn’t seem to change, other than a brief bout of bewilderment and water all over his shoulders.

Mateo ’s efforts were to be matched by stealth; capable of hiding behind one of the chimneys nearby, his aim was remarkable, and pinpointed straight on the sightseer; promptly losing their hat in the process and screeching something inaudible.

Despite their commotion, the group didn’t seem to deter too many. While the daycare workers and their charges rounded a corner out of sight, several more tourists seemed to be flocking about, the elderly didn’t bat an eye at nearby shenanigans, and only one nosey Karen-esque woman began approaching the soaked tourists.

RE: menaces to society - Flora - 11-15-2024

Being invisible made both being around Koa and attacking unsuspecting passersby below significantly easier, such that Flora felt like she was finally able to release the breath she'd been holding the entire time. Of course it meant that instead of just wondering if he was looking at her during all the moments she was pointedly not looking at him, she could just turn around and look for herself. Though now that both she and Melita were invisible, she supposed there really wasn't much on their side of the rooftop to draw his gaze.

Despite all that (or perhaps because of it), Flora couldn't help the way she turned away from the street below, her blue-green gaze searching for the dragoon. Considering for a moment what a terrible idea it would be to throw a balloon at him—if anything she should be using her invisibility to keep her distance and just stay out of his way entirely—once the idea had taken root she couldn't manage to shake it.

She shouldn't want to throw a balloon at him, but since they were still at the stage of their breakup when they obviously couldn't speak like adults, there was really only one way to get his attention, right?

Taking aim, Flora threw her balloon right at Koa.

invisible!Flora throws her balloon at Koa >.>

RE: menaces to society - Mateo - 11-16-2024

Stifling his cackling as he hears the cry of outrage below - Mateo, alas, has been too busy hiding to notice what a crack-shot he's had at the tourist and their hat - the botanist creeps forward to snag another water balloon. With two thirds of his competitors invisible and Koa seemingly preoccupied, aiming at them doesn't at all seem to be on his agenda. Instead, peeping above the side of the rooftop to see what there is to see, his blue eyes light up at the sight of the Karen as she approaches.

Squinting in concentration, he waits until she's among the (already soaked, so it's fine right) tourists before launching another balloon their way, hoping to soak her for her goodie-two-shoes behaviour. Gods, if he's lucky maybe he'll see one of his old teachers from the Collegium come by. That would make the game all the sweeter.

Mateo targets the Karen-esque woman!

RE: menaces to society - Koa - 11-18-2024

Oh, good, they're both invisible. Were he not already so on edge (and were it not so close to home) Koa might have made a pithy remark about women always hiding from him. But the wound Flora left on his heart remains, if not raw then certainly scabbed, and he doesn't want to pick at it any more than he already has.

Instead he decides to focus on minimizing the chaos and damage as he can--- except. [say]"Oh, fuck, it's Mrs Engalion,"[/say] Koa kisses to Mateo, eyes instantly locking on the Karen as she draws near. [say]"She's always submitting complaints about kids playing on her corner. She's the worst."[/say] If anyone deserves a balloon in the face it's her, and one look at Mateo tells the Dragoon that his friend inherently feels the same.

Without much thought for how it'll look if he's caught, Koa, too, hurtles a balloon her way. At the same time he'll snatch with an extended reach to try and pluck Mateo's from the air - or at least swat it away, a shit-eating grin shot at his friend.

Koa throws a balloon at the Karen woman and uses the extended reach from his bracers to try and knock Mateo's off-course!

Type: Grey | Style: Defensive | Level: Upgraded
Starlit Bracrs | Bracers that when activated extend the movement of the user's hand to 10ft total. Includes effects from items/weapons.

RE: menaces to society - Melita - 11-18-2024

Terrible idea or not, Flora ’s aim was spot-on, hitting the Dragoon square in the chest and bursting all over; but causing a ripple effect of actions. This motion, of course, skewed Koa ’s own intentions towards Mateo’s, and his balloon landed squarely upon another tourist who the Karen was heading to, further causing a scene.

And Mateo? A direct and beautiful hit upon Mrs. Engalion; knocking her wig clean off.

Melita tried desperately to stifle her laughter, but gods it was hilarious and glorious all at once. The woman began urgently and frantically screeching at the top of her lungs. [say]”What is going on? What is this?!”[/say] As no one else seemed acutely aware, she persisted, needling others nearby, and rousing more attention and suspicion. [say]”Someone should be calling the Dragoons over here!”[/say] She picked up her soaked wig, making a harrumph sound as others began to surround her, and the hapless and witless travelers. [say]”Fine! I’ll go do it!”[/say] and she began a stomping march.

Leaving the Honeybee the perfect opportunity to hit another tourist in the back.

Some, due to the theatrics and antics, began to disperse; including the elderly, who’d been around long enough in life to simply vacate the area. The commotion did, however, attract several more Karen-esque figures, waving their arms around and inspecting the sojourners, while two locals began coming over too, seeing if they could help.

--

[say]Everyone has hit this round!

Flora hits Koa!

Koa hits a tourist!

Mateo hits the Karen! She’s beginning to cause a scene and find a Dragoon.

Melita has hit another tourist!

Available Targets for this Round:
- Two more Karens and gods they’re loud
- Fleeing Mrs. Engalion
- Two locals; very boring and helpful
- The already soaked tourists
- Your competitors

Current Point Status:
Melita: 20
Koa: 10
Flora: 25
Mateo: 20[/say]

RE: menaces to society - Koa - 11-19-2024

Let's blame the balloon for Koa's poor aim, and let's blame Mel for the balloon. That's what the Dragoon's doing, at least, a strangled cry of [say]"Melita!"[/say] barked with a laugh as water splatters all over his chest. Swirling around in the direction he thinks the Honeybee might have gone, he flails his arms in mock indignation that cannot suppress his grin.

It hasn't occurred to him at all that an invisible Flora might be the culprit. He's assumed that she's as intent on avoiding him as he is her.

Meanwhile trouble is brewing below, causing the young man to cringe. [say]"Ohhh, I'm so glad I'm off duty today,"[/say] Koa groans as a now wigless Mrs. Engalion starts her march, being all too familiar with the old lady's tirades. And then he lobs another balloon at her before ducking out of sight, because in for a penny in for a pound and all that jazz.

Koa throws a balloon at Mrs. Engalion and hides
