hollow earth and ascending light - Deimos - 11-20-2024 Perhaps it was a good thing they all had broad shoulders, because the amount of responsibility resting on them again would’ve had multitudes teetering. Instead, like so many intervals before, the Sword clenched his jaw and committed to the actions necessary – setting up meeting times and coordinating other factions with Remi and Ronin, before ultimately winding his way towards the Greatwood, and the rushing flow of the Stone Symphony. At least their actions could be two-fold – rose hunting and discussions. So before either of the others arrived, Deimos set up the provisions and snacks with an abundance of pumpkin related baked goods; they’d certainly mauled enough vampire gourds lately to keep the bakeries plentiful and sustained. The riverbank provided a serene view, along with a general clearing – and he let Belial roam overhead as well, surveying and keeping an outlook for anyone else roaming nearby. So they’d find him munching on some cookies, waiting to get started. RE: hollow earth and ascending light - Remi - 11-21-2024 It was a rare thing for the Bastion to be in his Raróg shift, but given the season, he was more than happy for the aura of happiness he was able to cast as a small fiery bird to try and compensate for his husband's raging instincts. Besides, this way there was far less of him for Deimos to look at, and thus inadvertently give Ronin a reason for tearing the Sword's throat out for ogling the Bastion (though we all know nothing could be farther from anything that might realistically happen). Ahh, Leafchange. [say]I actually think I sort of like it this way.[/say] Remi hums chipperly, perched on his husband's impressive rack. (wink). [say]Wild really suits the Greatwood.[/say] Rae's cleansing had done nothing to encourage the forest and woods to tuck their roots away or reveal the snaking paths which normally wound through; in fact, it was quite the opposite. The trees seemed to stand even closer together than they had before, like silent sentinels defending against anything that might try and get through, including the Knight and Bastion. RE: hollow earth and ascending light - Ronin - 11-22-2024 [say]"Oh?"[/say] Glancing up as if to try to spy the glimmer of red from the bird perched on his partial shift, Ronin smiles to himself and continues to pick his way through the foliage, his hands shoved in the pockets of his coat. [say]"Well, part of it is called the Wildwood, if I remember right."[/say] But Remi does have a point; especially with the blaze of colour from Leafchange, too, the Greatwood has never seemed so itself, and as the familiar roar of the Stone Symphony reaches his ears too, even the tightly wound Knight manages a smile. He longs to fully shift and to go darting off into the woods - and there will absolutely be time for that later - but for now he remains on two legs so at the very least Deimos doesn't have to make conversation with a deer and a bird. (Not that he wouldn't make a very fetching Snow White). Spotting the Sword and raising a hand in a stiff wave, Ronin approaches and considers the spread of snacks. [say]"I always appreciate that we get to eat when we discuss the dire state of the world,"[/say] he says with a smirk, selecting a cookie and breaking off a piece of it to offer to Remi. RE: hollow earth and ascending light - Deimos - 11-22-2024 Voices through Attuned measures and outward gave him pause, snorting as he surveyed Remi in avian form and Ronin carrying the bird along partially shifted antlers. The Sword bore none of his own shifts within his soul; keeping them tucked away unless necessary, heaving a long and slow breath as they all meandered into the purposeful clearing. Belial screeched from overhead and kept a dutiful watch, and so his attention could focus directly on the others. [say]“I would hate for nothing positive to come of this,”[/say] he noted with a cheeky grin when noting snacks, before finishing off the cookie. Dusting his hands together, he opted to settle amongst and amidst the grass, leaning against one of the larger boulders. [say]“I trust you are both doing well?”[/say] He hadn’t heard of anything bombarding the duo lately; a bit too entrenched in the circumstances surrounding his lands at any given time. [say]“What would you like to discuss first?”[/say] The current dilemmas were not grand: choices before then in Sunjata sickness or rapier returns. RE: hollow earth and ascending light - Remi - 11-25-2024 Twittering sweetly, Remi sends a pulse of laughter down the bond in wry agreement. He was inclined to think that perhaps the Wildwood was due for an upgrade the same way the Stone Song had become the Stone Symphony, but such (thankfully) was no longer his jurisdiction to decide. [say]We were better before we got your note.[/say] Remi trills cheerfully, adjusting himself slightly in order to hop to one of Ronin's lower tines to be in a better position to receive more cookie crumbs. Flapping his wings in order to refresh the syrupy-sweet aura around him in order to preemptively soothe any feelings his husband might have about the stolen rapier, he turns his gaze toward the Sword and settles his wings back against his body. [say]I don't doubt you of course, about Sunjata, but how do you know?[/say] Despite the magic permeating from his small body, Remi's voice managed to sound grave despite the undertones of warmth and cheer radiating out from him. RE: hollow earth and ascending light - Ronin - 11-26-2024 Barely feeling the soft shift of weight in his crown of antlers, Ronin does at least spy his husband's crimson feathers fluttering a little closer, adjusting the trajectory of his cookie crumb feeding accordingly. [say]"Mm, and as well as we can be since we got it,"[/say] he agrees with Remi, nodding towards Deimos. [say]"How are things up in Halo with you?"[/say] Feeling the tension suddenly flood from his shoulders where it had been subconsciously been building, he'd cast a reproachful glare up to the Bastion were it not for the joyful aura that suffuses the air around him. (It sort of makes it redundant). [say]"Did he tell you?"[/say] he continues with a raise of his brows, regarding Sunjata and his infection. [say]"Or do we have something now that's capable of telling us if someone has been affected by the void?"[/say] He offers a slightly apologetic smile at the barrage of questions to Deimos, quickly eating a bite of cookie to stop any others spilling forth just yet. RE: hollow earth and ascending light - Deimos - 11-26-2024 Deimos had been better before he’d received such information as well, but he shrugged his shoulders in the way of many other times in the past; a necessary means to an end. The inquiries aren’t surprising, and he’d done much the same to Koa days ahead. Opting for the Attuned bond for this particular notation, in case of any overhearing, he tilted his head, and his gaze opted to peruse the scruples and snacks. [say]Koa found out and informed me. He and Zavien had a ring commissioned by Safrin – I brought it to Starfall so it could be upgraded. It can detect if anyone nearby is infected.[/say] Pausing, and then selecting another cookie, he gave another long, slow release of air from his lungs. [say]Sunjata also knew from Frey.[/say] He’d let the Taliesins fill in the other gaps about potential timelines, when the Flood came with them to their swift dragon battle, and how that might possibly tie in with their missing tool. As for Halo, he kept the intonations light, but was more curious about potential underpinnings along Torchline statures. [say]“Apparently Flora took it upon herself, in the latest void cleansing, to have the Mathair ask the Eirachi to make a new way forward in the route for mageglass.”[/say] One brow raised towards both Ronin and Remi, perhaps wondering if they’d had any notion of this. His mind was a blank fixture though; the irritation and vexation had been reserved for going back and forth via letters. [say]“You can imagine Evie and I’s reactions. No major damage was done, however, save for that portion of the Fangs falling into the sea.” [/say] RE: hollow earth and ascending light - Remi - 11-29-2024 [say]Silently, perhaps.[/say] Remi thinks to his husband. Though the Greatwood had been cleansed of the void, the Bastion wasn't sure that any of them had good reason to think that there weren't still plenty of ways for the FaMiLy to overhear them. Opening his beak as if to ask how Koa could have come to know such a thing, Deimos cuts him off before the words can trill out from his mind. [say]He knew? This whole time? And did not think to mention it to us?[/say] Remi's feathers fluff up a bit at the thought as he once again fans his wings, needing the magical reassurance himself this time. [say]That makes me even more worried than him being infected does.[/say] Not expecting his daughter's name to have anything to do with the goings on in Halo, the fact that the fire bird had no eyebrows to raise didn't stop him from communicating precisely that expression through their shared bond. [say]Why would she do that?[/say] Glancing down at Ronin though only able to make out the wrinkles in his husband's forehead, the small bird gives its head a shake. [say]She...is not speaking with us at the moment.[/say] He admits a touch stiffly, before sending an apologetic pulse to accompany his words. RE: hollow earth and ascending light - Ronin - 11-29-2024 Finishing his cookie and sending a pulse of agreement to both men - silently it is - Ronin joins Deimos to peruse the snack table and to pass a few more offerings up to Remi as they have their discussion. [say]That's very clever,[/say] he says of the ring, nodding softly and stepping back to enjoy a pastry, choosing to give it his full focus as if that will help to keep any of his feelings regarding Sunjata knowing about his infection from leaking out into the Attuned bond. [say]Perhaps he will be able to tell us that himself,[/say] he suggests, blue eyes flashing back up towards the Sword. [say]Your hotspring is still able to clear the infection, no? I feel as though we should arrange for Sunjata to pay a visit sooner rather than later...[/say] Clearing his throat to hear of Flora's shenanigans, Ronin let's out a rough curse and shakes his head. [say]"Well, fuck,"[/say] he says eloquently. [say]"She... well, I don't know if she'd have mentioned it to us even if we were on speaking terms, but I... have you talked with her? Do you need us to?"[/say] Or to do anything else to help rectify any damage done, for that matter. RE: hollow earth and ascending light - Deimos - 11-29-2024 Keeping composure and calm through the proclamations and questions, he tilted his head, leaning his back against the rock, pondering over the circumstances. [say]I am not certain what the parameters are for infection[/say], and though not very willing to ever give the Flood the benefit of the doubt, perhaps simply saying it out loud was not permissible through whatever symptoms were embedded into the disease. Though the suggestion at Ronin’s behest gave him further consideration and pause. [say]The hot springs are still functional and available. I suppose it depends on how we want to arrange things.[/say] The Sword wasn’t above bringing the demigod kicking and screaming to Halo and dumping him within the water; but they’d likely have to be a bit more clever than just brute force. He had more than a few items and powers at his disposal that might be helpful. The other men’s notions about Flora though, and the surprise, told him all he needed to know upon that portion of the discussion. It seemed it had either been a spur-of-the-moment, impulsive thing, or she simply hadn’t included her parents in the thought process. His eyes widened vaguely at the ‘not speaking to us’ portion, but knowing better than to tread into any familial disputes, especially when it wasn’t his business, he refrained from inquiring. [say]“I think Evie and I were clear on our stances in our letters.”[/say] His nose wrinkled, reserving any vexation for the Queen, and not her fathers. [say]“She apologized, but the damage had already been done. We were fortunate that the Eirachi did not freeze Halo further.”[/say] And perhaps that was the best they could do out of the situation. [say]“As for why she did it, I am still confused. She would not have any use for mageglass.”[/say] Not with being Accepted anyway. RE: hollow earth and ascending light - Remi - 11-30-2024 [say]I doubt he will want to come willingly.[/say] Everest hadn't gone despite being infected and knowing about the springs, and if Sunjata hadn't been forthcoming with the details of his situation, Remi couldn't imagine a situation wherein the Flood willingly took himself to Halo. [say]I could always teleport him, if you and Ronin were already in Halo...[/say] He suggests, once again pushing through the sensation of his eyebrows raising through the bond. [say]Though with his control over water I think we will have our hands full even if we do have the element of surprise.[/say] Glancing between Sword and Knight, the fire bird once again flaps its wings to refresh the aura of happiness which talk of Flora and her recent misadventures seemed to be rapidly eating through. [say]You know how would have a use for mageglass...?[/say] Deimos will no doubt feel the unease that Remi sends through the bond toward his husband at the thought of a certain smuggler. Had it really been spur of the moment for their daughter? Wonton recklessness when it came to other regions was not her style, but under Jack's influence he could easily see the Doubletake thinking she could rely on her charm and familial ties to get out of whatever bind her request of the Mathair put Halo in. [say]I'm sorry as well. She...has started dating someone new, and things have not been the same with her since it started.[/say] He admits, equally unwilling to put Deimos in the center of their own familial drama, but feeling the need to add a bit of context. RE: hollow earth and ascending light - Ronin - 11-30-2024 Groaning to himself - of course the cure for Sunjata's infection would come from the very element he has mastery over - Ronin finishes most of his pastry and offers the last morsel up for Remi to eat. Were it not for his husband's aura of warmth and joy, he might have prickled much more at the idea of the Bastion squirrelling himself away to teleport the Flood to Halo whilst he and Deimos lay in wait, but... well, honestly, it's not a bad idea. [say]Between the three of us we should be able to handle him, surely,[/say] he says, even if something uneasy coils at the back of his mind to realise that they're talking about Sunjata like an enemy. Which... right now, is that such an inaccurate description? [say]Does he need to be fully submerged in the water, or does he need to be there for a certain amount of time...?[/say] Not necessarily questions Deimos would know the answer to, if this is the first person visiting the springs to be cured of the void, but something to think about if they're going to have to wrestle a demigod into the water. But back to the Flora of it all, and Ronin's gaze darkens considerably even with the flap of crimson wings in his periphery. [say]"She wouldn't be so foolish, surely,"[/say] he mutters, before rubbing a hand roughly across his face. [say]"Maybe we ought to speak to her,"[/say] he suggests to Remi. [say]"She might not want to talk to us, but as the leader of a region, she really should know better. Either that or maybe we should get Hadama to have the conversation."[/say] RE: hollow earth and ascending light - Deimos - 11-30-2024 Precisely the reason he’d called them altogether as the plans began to form, he finished off the other cookie and listened amidst the formulations. [say]I can control water as well[/say], by way of reminder; and some pride in perhaps seeing which one could best the other in the middle of healing and cleansing could prove amusing. But leaving the competitive edges out of it, he kept pondering, especially over Ronin’s questions again. [say]I am not certain, but if we can get enough on him?[/say] Deimos would be the sort to splash and douse someone as they were striving to evade, regardless. However, this prompted another inquiry. [say]And how will we know if it was successful? [/say] Maybe they could borrow Koa and Zavien's ring. Thereafter, another idea pulsed, based on circumstances from the tournament. [say]What if you were to knock his soul out of his body?[/say] Quick, easy, and efficient, and would allow them time to plunk the Flood into the water. But around these measures came more news upon Flora’s actions, his brow arching as the matter seemed to pass through Ronin, Remi, and then back to him. Then, as the nuances grew more speculative and personal, his eyes narrowed. Unaware if he should be more bothered, annoyed, or irritated that the Queen of Torchline had opted to alter things in Halo due to her boyfriend, and whatever extension that meant, he could feel his jaw clenching. And a headache brewing. [say]“I will leave that up to you, but we have made her aware that this was potentially a political and regional nightmare.”[/say] Had they not had such connections with Flora already, and by some extension Hadama’s ridiculous wheedling, long overdue, and insufficient (in the Sword’s regards) apologies, there might have already been other justified responses. RE: hollow earth and ascending light - Remi - 12-03-2024 Tittering happily and accepting the remaining morsel of pastry with a quick snap of his beak, the Bastion pauses for a moment, head cocking abruptly to the side. [say]I...when everything happened with Mort..[/say] Blinking, though it wasn't possible for the bird to blush or shrug, both were communicated down the bond. [say] ..we might have to scratch the teleportation idea.[/say] Asking Koa for the ring is a good idea. No doubt the dragoon will offer to join in, but where demigods were concerned, he wasn't so sure Stormbreak's fighting forces were even close to the task. [say]The ring, I suppose.[/say] Remi chirps. [say]Maybe we could ask Sunjata to join us for...a...engagement party?[/say] Why it would be in Halo he was sure someone smarter than him (Ronin) could make up. Flapping his wings once more, had Remi the fingers to do so, he'd have rubbed them over his eyes. [say]I am sorry for any trouble that this has caused you. We will speak to her about it.[/say] Little did he know that her death would eclipse the need for such a conversation, but the intention was there if nothing else. |
