I'm in love with my future - Thalassa - 01-20-2025 After leaving Asta, Thal was finally starting to feel a sense of... peace. Her compass had been realigned for a new course, her path uncharted, yet she felt the constraints of her past beginning to fall away, lightening her load to embrace whatever new treasures may await her. Even her already-soft steps were somehow lighter as she entered the Temple, glancing around at the massive structure. The glossy obsidian shone in the middle called her forward with unknown potential and the prospect of seeing her goddess. She took a moment to appreciate the multitudes of handprints that had come before hers, layering over the glistening black surface to give it a matte redness that deepened the darkness. Brandishing her dagger, Thal slid it across her palm. The metal bit through her skin, but she didn't stop, soaking in the pain like worship as her blood welled up. She closed her fist to evenly spread the liquid before placing her hand amongst the others and looking up to the ceiling. [Say]"Dygra, my lady. I would like your help with something."[/say] Thal took a moment to let the words finish echoing in the chamber before placing her daggers - one still bloody - before the obsidian altar. [Say]"I'm making some life changes."[/say] Pausing, she shifted her cloak around her shoulders to gather the courage to voice her choices. [Say]"I realized I've been fighting between who I'd lost and who I wanted to be, and all it did was send me careening into the depths of confusion, searching for some kind of magic answer or purpose. And, unsurprisingly, I didn't find one."[/say] Her chuckle was still tinged with bitterness, but it didn't sting like before, the slant of her lips less tainted by pain. Biting her lip through the smile, she thought it might please Dygra to hear that a fellow Ancient had helped her. [Say]"But I got advice from Asta, and I think I finally have an idea of what to do, and how to do it. I've decided to embrace who I am, and where I am. And that includes my strengths."[/say] As she tilted her head, her dark hair shifted down her back. [Say]"If you're willing, I think my dagger work is one's my strengths, something from my new life that's been honed through experience, but I risk losing your gift amongst the chaos."[/say] She couldn't imagine the pain she'd feel if they were stolen or misplaced in the haze of battle. Smiling softly, she asked, [say]"Could you help me control them better?"[/say] Thalassa is requesting an item quest from Dygra to add the ability to control her daggers with singing! Type: Dark | Style: Offensive | Level: Basic Flametouch Daggers | A pair of obsidian daggers licked with crimson along the blade edge. On hit, the daggers become wreathed in flame. Regional Score bonus: +3 in all shrine visits, drops, PQ+s, KQs, etc. (You must post this at the bottom of any post where a +3 should be included) RE: I'm in love with my future - Random Event - 01-23-2025 Listen. Before this was a shrine to Dygra, this was a shrine to all gods, and that brings with it an abundance of spirits and other creatures who might creep around and lay in wait to cause trouble. And ding ding ding, Thal - you've found one. [say]"Yeth, it ith me. I am Dygra. Thankth for vithiting, Thalatha."[/say] The Ancient will get a sense of something moving through her, of her tongue fizzing, before all promptly winks out. Not even a flutter of power, or holiness, or unholiness for that matter. Everything seems perfectly normal. And it will continue that way - until Thal opens her mouth. Thalassa has been CURSED! Oh no! She will speak with a very heavy lisp (er, lithp) until she's able to complete the following tongue twisters perfectly: If a dog chews shoes, whose shoes does he choose? Lesser leather never weathered wetter weather better. Fred fed Ted bread, and Ted fed Fred bread. RE: I'm in love with my future - Thalassa - 01-23-2025 Her question was answered with silence before a soft, whispery voice floated to her then through her. She stood quickly, grasping her daggers in hand to battle whatever threat may have come. Thal scanned the room, waiting to see or hear something, but instead she felt something. A strange tingling spread through her mouth like fuzzy spiders. Shaking her head, she tried to get rid of whatever the uncomfortable sensation was. [say]"Whath the -"[/say] She stopped short, running her tongue over her teeth to understand 'what the hell' was happening. Other than a strange difficulty with mouth dexterity, she couldn't find a source. Which left only one explanation: she'd been cursed, again. Letting out a deep groan of frustration, she tried to pronounce a few words only to find that every 's' came out wrong. Her tongue slipped past her teeth no matter how hard she tried to clamp down. By the time she'd accepted the reality, her jaw was sore and her ego bruised. With her tail hanging low, Thal briskly exited the shrine, hoping the embarrassment might not be as bad as she thinks.
