disobedient jazz - Random Event - 02-27-2025

Inside the Refuge the atmosphere should be one of natural abundance and safeguarded serenity, even during LongNight. Despite the lack of light, the Refuge’s microclimate maintains a gentle warmth and a lush vibrancy, with thriving ecosystems and plentiful food. Yet tonight, the promised safety has been breached.

In a secluded corner, amidst a vibrant tapestry of foliage and carefully tended sustenance, lies the lifeless form of Nysadeia. Her once-radiant tentacles now lie dull, her body strewn gently across the mossy ground. A long, cruel slash marks her throat, its wound pulsing with an eerie, void-infused purple light. The stark contrast of spilled, dark ichor upon the soft, verdant carpet speaks of an insidious corruption.

If ever there was a question about what effect the Family and the void could have within the space, the lifeless body of one of the merfolk might provide more answers than the Archon of King's End would like to give.

Nysadeia has been killed by the void.

RE: disobedient jazz - Sunjata - 03-01-2025

LongNight in King’s End was peaceful for the most part. At least, it has been for the past few years. Even the meteor that crashed hadn’t done too much damage that fateful time. So this, despite having the memories of the Grounds during their frightful nights of LongNight, only makes things that much worse.

Those that dwelled within the Refuge often kept to themselves even when Sunjata would go and spend time there. But this time, under the dark of night, a few bold members rush out toward the Archon’s house, retrieving the Flood to see what had occurred.

And it’s dread that paints his gut, even if he barely knew the young mer. Nysadeia was familiar enough to him that he makes it a further point to start talking with the gods on what to do to block out the Void, and maybe… Just maybe, luck out with getting some of the blood from the Family to protect this sacred place so this doesn’t happen again.

So Sunjata spends time helping them recover from the loss with the full intent on sending out letters as soon as the sun rises, with each day growing more and more dreadful as the hours tick on.
