Lilac the ability to control myself - Melita - 03-16-2025

Had Melita not seen the flowers before, many years ago, she might’ve thought them a myth. One of those little stories people told their children at bedtime, based on hopes and dreams and faith or some shit. Presently, she just stared across the length of the Mathair, roots and all, with her arms crossed, annoyed and irritated, and stomped around the portions of this part of the world.[say] “How many times do you think people have just wandered through here?”[/say]

Crouching down by a patchwork of grass and sifting through it as if some buds and petals would just magically appear, she huffed again, waving a hand in her uncle’s direction. [say]“I’m this close to just asking for one from Rae or something.”[/say]

He also seems to be wandering aimlessly, gaze drifting from the Mathair in the distance to the undergrowth around, trying to scout a vision of red amongst the variety of flora around. He drifts further, calling back to her with a tired “[say]I dunno, a lot probably?[/say]” If the trails leading to and from the mathair were any indication. That, and likely because the tree was a seasonal deity, so wasn’t it possible for those nearby to drop by with offerings?

Catching the wave she shoots his way, the Flood shifts into his macaw shift, zipping through the short burst of space between them to get closer, before he shifts back into himself kneeling beside her. “[say]I think I’ll have to end up doing that too.. But first I need to get a regional quest from them for the Barrows.[/say]” He says with a slightly heavy sigh before he peers down at her hand over the grasses.

She huffed another breath as she peered around one of the massive roots, hoping to find crimson and petals out of the ridiculous floundering. She felt a bit foolish after all these intervals, meandering about looking for flowers that she knew existed, but hadn’t seen since umpteen zillion years ago.

Pushing some hair out of her face, she wandered down by another, wondering if they’d grow in the more enigmatic portions of shade. While Sila flew high above and Fangorn bobbled around (half looking, half catching bugs), her eyes flickered back to her uncle. [say]“Oh? What’d you guys decide on? Gonna block some void shit?”[/say]

Finding little of anything to go off of, the Flood huffs a little sigh – a bit petulantly, if he’s being honest. He stands from where he’d knelt beside her, hoping to find some amount of scarlet petals in his shadow. Stretching out his leg, he joins her in searching under the roots and on the edges of the underbrush nearby it in case anything is hidden when her question reaches him and he nods.

“[say]Yeah, gonna block out the creatures.[/say]” He offers with a small smile – because he couldn’t quite get the family blocked out entirely. At least, not until they managed to get their hands on some of the Family’s blood. But until then? This was the best they could do, given how late in the game he is, unfortunately. "[say]The citizens chose the Barrows, so we'll start there first and see how it goes.[/say]" It wasn't going to be easy, that much he already knew.

And there it was – after wandering about for however long around the tree, it still amounted to nothing (not discounting the very neat carnivorous plants, sure) – and she rolled her eyes into the seemingly foresty void. [say]“Well, that’s good at least,”[/say] she mentioned towards Sunjata and his plans. [say]“Probably going to get to a point where we’re all going to need more than blockades too.”[/say] Like, weapons – since she still wasn’t against blowing the whole of Starfall sky high.

But then she inclined her head, glancing around again at their current vicinity. [say]“What do you think? I didn’t see anything else around here. We can try somewhere else?”[/say]

Frowning at the lack of anything that could be useful, the Flood sighs and wrinkles his nose at the cluster of flora growing in the underbrush of the Mathair – to the mushrooms he can spot on the underside of the wood. “[say]We’re pretty late to it, so it’ll be hard to get something from Stormbreak to block them.[/say]” He laments, tilting his attention back toward her as he drifts a little closer, having given up in the section he’d been looking at.

As for the rest, he follows her gilded gaze around in case there was anything to note, but when that comes up empty too, he nods back to her. “[say]Yeah, seems like a bust. Where do you wanna go next?[/say]” He asks, letting her take the lead for wherever they went to on their Roses Tour.

She didn’t want to have a permanent frown etched on her face, but gods, this shit was irritating. Unaware of the latest string of fortune in other places, she glanced around at the Mathair, its roots, while listening to the lateness of it all. [say]“Probably better than nothing though,”[/say] and there might still be time to get something accomplished. She certainly didn’t know the framewoks of shit going on or down – but eventually everything was going to come to a head.

Pondering over their options for the next wandering and meandering trip, she considered going inward. [say]“Want to try the Observatory?”[/say] Last time she’d been there she’d run into that Niki dude – but maybe this time they could catch glimpses of stars, even if they weren’t successful in the flower acquiring.
