the place you need to reach - Jack - 04-29-2025

Jack waits until the dead of night to approach the Aumakua, a covered basket in hand and little more than a spray of stars and the light from Torchline's fires to guide him. Dressed in a crisp, midnight blue shirt and a dark waistcoat, his hair left loose to fall around his shoulders, he ascends the steps to the top of the lighthouse on soft, silent feet, spending a few moments lighting the candles and lanterns before kneeling in front of the shrine.

[say]"Thought rather than bringin' you somethin', I could make you somethin' instead,"[/say] he rumbles, uncovering the basket and removing a couple of martini glasses, a cocktail shaker, and several other ingredients. [say]"Since I ain't exactly welcome at The Hanged Man anymore, I've been frequentin' a few different bars. This, I've been told, is called a Galaxy Slam."[/say]

Muddling together some lemon and lime juice along with a dollop of mixed berry jam and syrup, Jack adds it to the cocktail shaker, along with gin, blue curacao and chambord. Conjuring ice to add to the mix and giving it a spirited shake, he strains it into the glasses, dusts the top with edible glitter, and adds a sprig of mint to garnish.

RE: the place you need to reach - Safrin - 04-29-2025

The starlight that swept across the shrine’s marble edges bent ever so slightly—like a bow pulled taut—before releasing Safrin into existence with a shimmer of twilight and scent of crushed jasmine. She emerged quietly, almost intimately, as if answering a secret rendezvous rather than a prayer. The silken folds of her dark, star-speckled gown whispered along the floor as she approached, barefoot, graceful, her gaze already fixed on the captain kneeling before her.

Her eyes gleamed with immediate pleasure at the sight—and scent—of what he'd prepared. [say]"Jack,"[/say] Safrin purred, stepping close enough that the starlight caught and danced along her hair like falling comets. [say]"You never fail to find new ways to tempt me."[/say] There was a low laugh in her voice as she knelt opposite him, her gown pooling like a second night sky between them.

Without hesitation, she plucked one of the offered glasses, turning it slowly between her fingers to admire the swirling galaxy of colours and glitter suspended within. [say]"A Galaxy Slam,"[/say] she mused, the name clearly amusing her as she lifted the glass in a silent, appreciative toast before taking a slow, deliberate sip. Her lashes fluttered as the flavours burst across her tongue, and the smile that curved her mouth was brighter than the stars burning overhead. [say]"You spoil me,"[/say] she murmured, setting the glass down with a soft click that echoed faintly in the quiet night. Her attention returned fully to Jack, and with a slow, lazy tilt of her head, she extended a hand toward him, palm up, fingers curling slightly in invitation for him to place his own within that she might brand him with the fruits of his labour.

Having drawn his mental barriers as high as they'll go - he really never knows how it's going to be when Safrin appears, after all, and there's a reason he made the cocktails beforehand - Jack settles back on his knees to watch as she steps through the curtain of the cosmos like starlight made manifest. Smiling crookedly and gesturing for her to go ahead, he waits until she has sampled the drink before picking up his own glass, providing his hands are steady enough for it.

[say]"Impossible,"[/say] he quips, as if even the idea of spoiling Safrin is an oxymoron, though the gods know he's in more of a position to try now than he ever has been before. Only able to stand the white-hot glory of her smile in quick glances, Jack takes a brief sip of the cocktail and sets it down as well, before offering his hand out to her, also palm up, his shirt pushed up to show the smooth, tanned skin at the inside of his wrist.

[say]"Thank you,"[/say] he adds, [say]"for the opportunity to do this."[/say]

Safrin’s smile deepened—not the bright, blinding flash she gave the world, but something more intimate, molten and slow, reserved for creatures like Jack who dared to meet her here and offer themselves so openly. Her fingers brushed lightly against his outstretched wrist, an idle caress that sent a ripple of starlight across his skin.

For a breathless moment, she held him there—caught between her hands like a constellation just waiting to be remade. [say]"You’re welcome,"[/say] she murmured, and though the words were simple, the way her mind unfurled against his was anything but.

For an instant, Jack would feel her without the careful veil she often kept between them. Her thoughts didn’t flow like mortal ones did; they blazed—solar flares of lust and longing, galaxies spinning on unseen axes, the gravitational pull of countless stars dragging at his soul. Every spark of her pleasure was a supernova, every thread of affection a meteor burning bright through endless dark. Touch me, see me, belong to me, the universe whispered, though no single word was ever spoken.

As starlight spilled from her fingers, it coalesced on Jack’s skin, seeping into the golden tan of his wrist like ink. Slowly, delicately, Safrin etched a compass rose into his flesh—each point sharp and fine as a star’s spear, the centre an unfathomable black, deeper than mere ink could ever reach. Around it, constellations stirred: tiny stars, no larger than freckles, moving gently as if blown by some cosmic wind, always circling the compass, always guiding.

[say]"There,"[/say] Safrin said, her voice a low purr, her thumb gliding over the newly-marked skin in an almost possessive stroke. [say]"No matter where you are, Jack Barclay, you will always know where home is."[/say]

And for a fraction of a second longer, her mind stayed open to him—a slow, devastating promise of everything he could never quite have, but that she would let him taste, again and again, if he only stayed within her orbit. Then the weight of her presence drew back—just enough to let him breathe again, if only barely. [say]"Now, why don't you go ahead and try it out?"[/say]

Safrin's touch is cool and warm at the same time against his skin, but even as Jack senses the compass rose beginning to etch itself into him like molten starlight, it's nothing compared to the way the goddess's mind unfurls for him. Like a lotus flower in bloom, she opens against his magic - just for a second, a fraction of an instant that might well have lasted a lifetime for the way it brands his mind.

Inhaling sharply, each careful string of his telepathy plucked into a symphony by her expert hands, Jack would have staggered to his knees were he not there already, and though it's arguably too much, even for this barely there moment, he finds himself chasing it all the same. His nerves sear with her presence, the echoes of her pleasure, her desire, her endless fire, and by the time they part even a fraction he can taste iron on his tongue and his cheeks are wet, but he's never felt so at peace.

It's here, he wants to say, like an addict chasing the next high, home is right here. Instead, dragging together the shreds of himself into something that still resembles Jack Barclay, he clears his throat and bobs his head in a nod. [say]"Until... next time..."[/say]

Nodding again, the fingers of his free hand barely brush the fresh, swirling constellations on his wrist before he's whisked away to The Ark, slamming a door against Safrin's closeness that he desperately wants to pry open, to find himself on his knees before her once again.
