Thank youuuuuuu. Turns out, I think maybe Jack was full of shit? Basically as soon as we got to the desert some void cloud wyrm swooped down to try and fuck us up. My money is on Jack having lied about how it works (probably just as a way to fuck Safrin with impunity or w/e), so y'know, be careful with it.
