thorn to be wild - Melita - 06-24-2025 Despite all the predilections and spite towards Safrin, especially in the wake of her uncle and Ludo’s influences, Melita still kneeled before the altar amidst the Observatory. She knew better than to be a petty shit towards a herald, and she had nothing against Vi, so she began to unfurl the items she’d picked up around Sidhe for the pair of them: a brooch and mirror in the shape of stars and moons and galaxies, then portions of seeds, promises of life. Brushing her hands together, she rose, satisfied with the arrangement. Turning towards her companions, who’d both been snacking away at treats, she instigated the next round of movements. [say]“I think we should stick to searching around here too,” [/say]was a quiet murmur, leaving those who were lingering nearby alone. It wasn’t quite dark enough anyway to cast about or read the constellations, nor search for ghost whales in the heavens, but portions of light lingered in and around – and it’d be a wonderful thing to finally trace over golden roses instead of the usual fanfare of nothing. Or will-o-wisps. RE: thorn to be wild - Elizabeth - 06-24-2025 In between sessions, Elizabeth took the time to enjoy the small village, hitting the popular bakery nearby as well as the various tea shops to add to her collection. The weather was warm enough that she only wore a light floral blouse over her travel pants, choosing practicality in the unpredictability that was the Greatwood. Smiling pleasantly to herself, she decided she still had enough time to kill that she might enjoy some reading in the famed Observatory. The sights might only be a fraction of what they could be at night, Elizabeth thought the vantage point might be better for people watching anyways. So, with a small hum, she shifted the bags on her shoulders and made her way towards the towering structure at the end of the street. RE: thorn to be wild - Melita - 06-25-2025 Sila and Fangorn huffed equally when nothing within the structure seemed to be coming up roses, so Melita shook her head and shrugged. Thereafter, she opted to snag at the gourd, letting him tangle his vines around her arms, and head down the stairs to search outside, while the dragon alighted on her own, wings unfurling and easily dropping down to the ground. [say]“All right, what about here then?”[/say] she murmured, once they were all back on the soil and footing. Thereafter, they split up, rounding along the back and edges in companion faculties, while the Honeybee lingered near the stairs, peering and peeling through the undergrowth, ferns, and bushes. [say]“One could be hiding right under our noses,”[/say] she whispered still hopeful and mostly to herself, then wrinkling her nose when nothing came about. Glancing back over her shoulder, she could see others beginning to approach, and she knew her search was likely coming to an end – taking several strides away from the area and crossing her arms. [say]“Anything?”[/say] was offered to pumpkin and flying lizard alike, but only snorting and grumbling nearby consisted of their responses. RE: thorn to be wild - Elizabeth - 06-25-2025 The tall building rose before her, the stairs opening to a street with an inviting manner that drew her forward. However, there appeared to be some commotion at the base, a flurry of vines and wings and red hair scurrying about the undergrowth between stairs and bushes and soil. It seemed too controlled to be frantic, and she wondered what they might be doing. Elizabeth slowed her approach, tilting her head in curiosity as she called out. [Say]"Hello? Do you need help with something?"[/say] Maybe they'd lost something. The search for flowers still persisted, but she didn't want to assume. Regardless, her eyes roamed like she might spot the red and gold rose peeking from the ground again. RE: thorn to be wild - Melita - 06-26-2025 Melita could only sigh when nothing appeared – from either herself, dragon, or gourd. It’d become a customary thing to leave the Greatwood wholly empty-handed, and now she was left to wonder where else to peer and pierce before heading home. Another approached her though, likely wondering just what the fuck she was doing (a valid question some days), and striving not to appear like a bristling, disappointed hag today, the Honeybee arched her brow, glancing at the other woman before taking a long breath, shrugging her shoulders. [say]“Oh, no. I was looking for flowers. Nothing here today either.”[/say] The truth might’ve been a dangerous proposition nowadays – she had no way of knowing if this stranger was a friend or foe, how pressed or close she was to the tides of the Family’s might; but then again, Melita was very confident in her own abilities. She wouldn’t need Air to make a dent in anything. Thereafter, she gestured to the stairs, the long sweeping motions towards the natural wonder of other things. [say]“The Observatory up there is nice though.”[/say] RE: thorn to be wild - Elizabeth - 06-26-2025 She took in the woman, the fire in her eyes and hair that gave her a lively, brutally honest energy that brought forth a warm smile. Considering 'flowers' had been synonymous with Vi's Roses and Rae's Lilies for the last few years, Elizabeth automatically assumed as much, tilting her head to look against amongst the brushes and branches, a pleasant hum on her lips. [say]"Hmm. Bummer. I found one down the road before, but I haven't seen any today."[/say] The information was freely given, no signs of ulterior motives as she tucked an errant strand of hair behind her ear to glance up at the Observatory. [say]"That's good to hear. I was just on my way up there."[/say] Offering the woman a friendly smile, Elizabeth adjusted the strap of her bag, laden with books and journals for her time in the building. However, there was really only one thing that she cared about. [say]"Is there a good view for people watching?"[/say] RE: thorn to be wild - Melita - 06-27-2025 Arching a brow, she was surprised to hear that one had been found – likely plucked and carried off for eventual Starfall upheavals or anything else notched in between. [say]“That’s good. Nice to hear some luck has prevailed.”[/say] She gave a sharper sigh, glancing back at her companions as they came hustling back through. [say]“I’m Melita, by the way,”[/say] head snapping back to the stranger, realizing she hadn’t gone with any semblance of introductions. ‘People watching’ wasn’t something she did frequently either – unless it was for some Ludo hijinks – so her curiosity and confusion remained hallmarked on her face. [say]“Oh, well, I mean, you probably could. A lot of it is pointed towards the sky, but there’s probably something.”[/say] She’d never bothered from within the Observatory, after all, but there’d be enough windows to get the job done. [say]"Are you looking for someone in particular?"[/say] Nearby though, small pulsing lights harkened her attention, and her brows furrowed, contemplating how and why some of the will-o-wisps had ventured that close to the village. RE: thorn to be wild - Elizabeth - 06-27-2025 The woman confirmed her thoughts when she mentioned luck, and Elizabeth nodded her head in agreement. [say]"Some, although not enough."[/say] She may not know the details of the efforts in Starfall, but the tension and need for flowers hadn't weakened, so she worked under the assumption that more were necessary. At the sudden introduction, her smile broadened, always happy to make new acquaintances. [say]"I'm Elizabeth."[/say] The evident confusion tempted her to laugh, knowing that 'people watching' wasn't most people's favorite past time. Even though she kept her professionalism, her gentle amusement wasn't as easily hidden. [say]"No, I just enjoy observing. You can learn a lot about people without even talking to them."[/say] Although she certainly enjoyed that part too. Before she could explain more, Melita's attention appeared to be drawn elsewhere, subsequently drawing Elizabeth's. Her eyes scanned to find small pulses of light bobbing in the tree line. She'd never seen them, but only one reason came to mind for the strange phenomenon. [say]"Are those will-o-wisps?"[/say] RE: thorn to be wild - Melita - 06-27-2025 ‘Not enough’ could pertain to many things, but Melita wisely kept her mouth shut on those parameters. Instead, she listened to the namesake, Elizabeth, and the explanation, head tilting in imminent and obvious confusion. The Honeybee’s patience was much too thin to sit back and observe others beyond the means of survival – trying to figure out who was a threat, who wasn’t, what movement would trigger which weapon of choice – which probably said a lot for her more impulsive persuasions. [say]“Oh,”[/say] she arched a brow, considering it. For some reason, she hated to think a litany of presumptions were suddenly laden upon her, just based on what her features were doing at present. [say]“And you were hoping to just watch people around here?”[/say] For what? Striving to let that thought dim, her attention eventually meandered back to the glowing orbs nearby, as they became more apparent beneath the wooden structure of the Observatory. She could hear her mother and sister within those parallels, bobbing around in a constant state of luring and scheming; no longer affected by the ruses and tricks of the elemental fixtures. She’d heard and been disappointed by them one too many times. [say]“Yeah. They’re shit.”[/say] So she took a single breath, tapped into the laden portions of all her wild magic, and when her lungs exhaled, the snap of water hastened through – a singular blast jettisoning out towards the floating beasts. RE: thorn to be wild - Elizabeth - 06-28-2025 The concept of 'people watching' was still very obviously not a popular one to the red head, not that Elizabeth blamed her. There were plenty of other activities to do with free time, but she gave a polite explanation around the warm amusement of her smile. [say]"Mhm. Just to see how they go about their lives without interference."[/say] Like an ant farm or the physical manifestation of fated threads being woven together. Tilting her head, the quirk of her lips turned more playful. [say]"And sometimes it's fun to make up random thoughts or ideas about who they are or where they're going."[/say] Like miniature stories that she was peeking into - at least until will-o-wisps dare to interrupt. She didn't have much time to study or admire the orbs before they were gone in a blast of water, winking out of existence. Elizabeth briefly wondered if the water would dampen their fires, but a small chuckle of surprise moved through her instead. [say]"I think you got them."[/say] Although it hadn't been aggressive, the reaction had certainly been quick, and she looked to Melita with a raised brow. [say]"Not a fan?"[/say] RE: thorn to be wild - Melita - 06-28-2025 Melita still wasn’t quite certain she’d be a fan of the concept – why make up stories about how people were living, when you could ask them? Wasn’t it more meaningful than scenarios that might never come to fruition? [say]“Huh,”[/say] she managed politely, glancing around and looking at several passersby – some heading to the market, others hastening towards different paths. Normal. Ordinary. Not worth bothering them about. The will-o-wisps had been though, and her nose wrinkled in distaste towards where their patterns of light had been dispersed, submerged, and drowned in her ire. [say]“No. Not with the way they try to trick people.” [/say]And while she was the demigod of Ludo, and overly fond of shenanigans, she also didn’t try to lure others off towards their death – unless they pissed her off. RE: thorn to be wild - Elizabeth - 06-29-2025 Elizabeth didn't know what was going through Melita's mind, but she knew it wasn't understanding, and she smiled again with a kind of quiet amusement for the polite response she still gave. Not everyone enjoyed immersing themselves in worlds other than the one they live, coming up with fantasy stories and random tales. And apparently people didn't like getting lured into traps. Nodding her head, Elizabeth glanced again to where the will-o-wisps had been. [say]"That's fair."[/say] Glancing at her watch, she knew her next session was coming up, the little free time she had dwindling away. As much as she'd love to stay and talk with Melia, she still wanted to take the opportunity to see the top of the Observatory, and she'd hate to bore the woman with more of her questions. So, she offered a polite smile, gesturing her head towards the stairs. [say]"Well, I should probably get to my people watching. You're welcome to join me if you'd like. Maybe you'll like it more than you think."[/say] The twinkle in her brown eyes was more than just a friendly suggestion, always happy for company and good conversation. RE: thorn to be wild - Melita - 06-30-2025 Her head whipped back from studying the grass nearby, mind already occupied with something else. The offer was kind, but her determination was already pooling and pulling in opposing directions. [say]“I’m all right – gonna go scout out some other places for flowers. Thanks though.”[/say] Probably annoy and irk and bother others in the process – but such was the Honeybee’s role. [say]“Good luck on your watching.”[/say] Maybe she’d see something she considered worthwhile or story-laden. Saluting the woman, she gathered up the rest of her belongings and her companions, before heading towards the surrounding forest, brows already furrowing with intent and that steadfast, tenacious determination.
