see what you did there - Melita - 07-09-2025

Pew pew pew went Melita’s arrows, streamlining through the air, each elemental fixture one of radiant destruction – electricity piercing through a void viper’s skin as it hissed and fell from its tree. Fire waging war upon another’s head. Even ice, much less impactful, still froze the beast until she could put it out of its misery.

[say]“Very nice,”[/say] she grinned, mostly for herself, before ensuring more fiery semblances made it into their corpses, and they could burn there, done and dusted.[say] “We’ll keep going this way,”[/say] she nodded to Sila and Fangorn alike – the gourd only stopping midway through to nearly extend some vines out and play with the dead snakes – only leaving them alone when it became clear they’d be frying to a crisp. [say]“And get rid of anything we see,”[/say] she added for effect, brows waggling at her companions.

She turned direction, intent on several trees nearby amidst the grove of seemingly endless flowers – figuring the little bastards would be cooped up in there too.

Mourn was still infected for the moment while they work on the regional quest of theirs to get it safe from the Family — something that wouldn’t really matter too much these days, but something that the Flood still intends on finishing regardless of it. At this present moment, it means working on the little things to protect this portion of his region from the creatures that would deign to make it theirs.

He’s settled at a picnic bench beneath one of the trees out in the fields, with Petronella doing her best to swipe some of the bread he’d brought to build the sandwich when he spots Melita’s approach. The two have been blissfully unaware of the void vipers hanging in the branches above them in the shade. "[say]Hey![/say]" Sunjata calls out with a smile and a wave.

RE: see what you did there - Melita - 07-11-2025

Walking up, Melita hadn’t anticipated seeing her uncle nor his companion nearby – and her eyes widened a fraction, before she settled on a wave. [say]“Hey. I was just clearing out some of your void shit.”[/say] Then her gaze pinpointed on his food – striving to ignore the rumble in her stomach – poor impulse control ensured she’d wandered out well after she should’ve grabbed something to snack on.

Fangorn and Sila gave their own little greetings to Petronella, but the Honeybee’s plotting mind was pinpointed elsewhere, gaze settling back on the tree, amidst the shade, searching for portions and pieces to come flickering in. [say]“So the whole Family thing – what the fuck, huh. Too bad we didn’t realize that was all it’d take ages ago.”[/say] Might’ve saved them quite a bit of time and pain. But even with them gone…clearly some cretins intended to stay longer than others.[say] “Stormbreak’s all cleansed now too."[/say]

RE: see what you did there - Sunjata - 07-14-2025

“[say]Thanks. It’s been a busy few weeks.[/say]” Sunjata admits as Melita drifts closer, his smile softening before he’s following her gaze up to the trees curiously, the branches spidering out above them. Petronella takes the moment to hop down from the little bench and drift toward Sila and Fangorn with little mews of greetings, trotting up happily before she stretches nice and large with a little mewl.

Sunjata on the other hand, keeps his gaze above him as Melita speaks, nodding as he scans the branches for anything amiss. “[say]Gods, I know. Would’ve been so much easier.[/say]” He sighs a little — though there’s relief in it, given he doesn’t have to go and venture to the water level of Starfall any longer. “[say]Good to hear about Stormbreak, though. Was it to take out the dragon?[/say]” He tacks on as he spots movement, a void snake dropping from one of the branches toward him. His back to his food now, he conjures some water magic, forcing the snake out of the tree and into the air as he encases it completely with water.

She listened, half of her attention on the food, and the other on what her uncle was actually saying. [say]“Yeah. Someone else must’ve put a flower down or whatever,”[/say] who knew – could’ve been more creatures of that ilk and nonsense and another fight she hadn’t been privy to. [say]“Because its all taken care of now.”[/say] And the Breakers would be free to rule and reign again – with whomever, she supposed, wondering if Sohalia would take up the mantle once more. Maybe people would fight about it. That would be hilarious and chaotic.

And then her uncle seemed to abandon the sandwich, so Melita calculated. [say]“I’m gonna try and sneak up on them while invisible,”[/say] she countered, which seemed like a worthwhile excuse. So she did just that, becoming intangible, and snuck around where he’d left the food on the bench – swiping it immediately and shoving it into her mouth, before winding her way back around to the tree.

RE: see what you did there - Sunjata - 07-17-2025

“[say]Makes sense.[/say]” Sunjata hums with a distracted laugh - though not for any of the reasons Melita was distracted. No, with Petronella busying herself with Melita’s companions, Sunjata’s occupied himself with the void viper that’s draped down toward him, snagging it with the water magic under his skin as he encases the serpent. It writhes within the water that glints with the light.

Petronella offers Melita a small mewl of approval at the shenanigans before Mel would find herself with plenty of time to snag Sunjata’s sandwich for the pure indulgence of getting out his anger on the void - forcing the snake to drown until its no longer writhing, then solidifying the water into ice that he drops and watches the snake shatter amongst the rest of the ice. “[say]So how’ve you been?[/say]” He asks as he turns around to try and spot her and finding her vanished, not noticing his missing sandwich yet.

Sandwich half-sticking out of her mouth, the youth realized she wasn’t going to be able to answer him fully. Chewing readily, and maneuvering bits of bread aside, she made it seem as though she’d been concentrating on the impending arrow, rather than choking down the food on poor choices.

So it took more than a few moments of her snagging at fire arrows, and shooting a void viper who’d been lurking amidst the shade, next to Sunjata’s frozen one, to actually answer. [say]“Oh, you know,”[/say] she added, voice coming out of thin, intangible air from somewhere near the bench before she moved around. [say]“I helped with the Stormbreak thing. Though they didn’t really need me. Just called in a shit ton of demigods.”[/say] She shrugged, as if she wasn’t put out by it, and he couldn’t see the movement anyway.

The silence is curious, and he glances around once he’s frozen his viper to try and spot her only to find her invisible and meandering somewhere around the bench of the picnic table he’d settled at. Not questioning it, because it was Melita of all people and he should honestly expect it, so when she does answer he nods and snorts, spotting the arrow as it launches toward another viper, snuffing it out.

“[say]Sounds like I missed the party on that one.[/say]” He murmurs, though he finds he really doesn’t care at all whether he did or didn’t. It was both bittersweet to be channeled, knowing you were needed but also never knowing when it might happen. Like for now, for example, someone could channel him right now and he’d simply just vanish into thin air.

RE: see what you did there - Melita - 07-21-2025

Shoving down what was left of the sandwich, she took a couple quick breaths to ensure she wasn’t going to choke – realizing that it was hardly as satisfying when reliant on theft. Or maybe she just had a big appetite. Shooting another viper and watching it fizzle down into nothingness brought far more contentment, she snorted at his murmur. [say]“Nah, you didn’t miss shit. I didn’t even get a hit in.”[/say] Again, the question compelled over why even bothering to invite her at all, if she wasn’t going to have any fun.

She did absolutely take a piece of the dragon though. As she deserved.

If she sounded irritated and annoyed, it was because she was, and used, funneled, that frustration into her motions with the bow, steadily aiming it at some fucker clinging in the tree, as if it’d remain hidden for long. [say]“Do you get channeled a lot?”[/say] She’d never been – though maybe that was unsurprising.

RE: see what you did there - Sunjata - 07-22-2025

“[say]Oh huh.[/say]” Sunjata says with a raise of his brow — taking note of the irritation in her voice. He gets it, though, the multiple attempts on Starfall where he was mostly useless ninety percent of the time chafed in much the same way. Instead, though, he glances over toward her (or where he thinks she is, given her invisibility again). “[say]I’m sorry. That sucks.[/say]” He adds on.

Looking up when he spots movement of another viper, he sends a stream of water toward a viper beside where Melita aims (not that he’d know), when her question hits him and he laughs ruefully. “[say]Like.. Twice I think?[/say]” Not much. He’s certainly no Remi or Ronin, that’s for sure. "[say]You?[/say]"

RE: see what you did there - Melita - 07-22-2025

Taking more violent and vehement satisfaction in watching a viper fall straight from the tree and flail around on the ground, she huffed again, pulling at another arrow. [say]“Well, it gets to the point of why bothering asking people to come, if you’re just gonna pull everyone else in.”[/say] Remi and Ronin didn’t seem very content with the arrangement anyway, and then there’d been the whole Hadama in, Hadama out, Hadama does all the damage moments strung in between.

Firing off an ember-laced barb to finish off the vile little beast, she ducked underneath boughs and branches, checking for any more shitheads.[say] “Oh, that’s cool,”[/say] she added. [say]“What’d you get to do?”[/say] As for her own measures, she shook her head, then remembered he wouldn’t be able to see the gesture. [say]“Nah. Not yet.” [/say]

RE: see what you did there - Sunjata - 07-24-2025

“[say]Yeah, I get that.[/say]” He says with a soft laugh, not at her expense but because fuck, he’d been there before time and time again. These days, though, he’s pretty strong. Even if his magic didn’t do much against the void like Hadama’s did, and he remembers what it was like to not have the option to do much of anything when it came to those gravity spikes.

Ah well. He watches as she finishes off the viper and he recalls the couple of times he’d been channeled. “[say]Hm, well, the first time I was ever channeled was during a void cleanse for the Feverlands. You don’t really get a lot of time to do much so I think I let my riptide go before I was suddenly poofed right back here.[/say]” He lets a little laugh leave him, satisfied with the lack of vipers currently. “[say]Worst part is that they can channel you from wherever and whenever, so.. Can be a little awkward.[/say]”

RE: see what you did there - Melita - 07-25-2025

The thing was, Melita had options. If her abilities weren’t up to par, her items certainly were. She could at least do some significant damage, even if it wasn’t as effective as the gravity or air magic. Sighing despite it all, she manifested back into reality, all tangible lines and frowns, the invisibility gone and adrift. [say]“I guess like…if you’re not going to let me help, then don’t bother asking for me to come?”[/say] She shrugged, uncertain if that’s how she wanted it worded or not – regardless, out in the open now, for her uncle to hear.

Hopping back to the bench and sighing, her legs curled up in front of her chest, and she leaned back against the metal frame, listening to his own circumstances and moments. Her head tilted though, picturing the whole thing. [say]“Wait, there’s no warning? You just get pulled?” [/say]

RE: see what you did there - Sunjata - 07-28-2025

“[say]Yeah, that’s totally fair.[/say]” Sunjata nods, understanding glinting in his gaze as he peers down at the picnic table and notices the sandwich missing — which of course, rather than having expected his niece to eat it, he immediately diverts his gaze over toward Petronella where she’s still playing with Melita’s companions, pretty much figuring that the sea panther had devoured it herself when she was occupied.

Looking back over toward Melita as he explains how the channeling for a demigod works, Sunjata huffs a laugh at her surprise. “[say]No warning. You’re suddenly just doing something and yanked into some crazy battle that’s been going on.[/say]” He rolls a shoulder and reaches into the basket he’d brought, grabbing an apple. “[say]Even if you’re sleeping. Just like that, you’re not in bed anymore.[/say]”
