no one mourns the Void - Nova - 08-20-2025

After finishing her training with Vesper, Nova had stolen off with giggles and puffs of glitter, pretending that she had a similar teleportation ability. It might be cool to have one day, but she wonders if it's nearly as fun as skipping. Because as she skips through the flowers and scattered benches, it seems like the hopping, bouncing motion would be way too fun to give up. Who needs to get places faster when they can just jaunt down a path?

She hums something bright and cheerful, her sparkly unicorn dress catching the sunlight like a beacon for the creatures - full of magic and glitter. It doesn't compare to the tiny specks of starlight that occasionally burst around her when she spins, but nothing can compare to that. Especially not the dirty stained glass bench that comes into view, a woman crouched at its side.

Nova hops to a stop next to her, hinging forward to look at the dirt and grime that had come to cover the sacred place for offerings and memories alike. The teal strands of her blonde hair fall forward to frame her star-freckled face as she tilts her head, curiosity making her words shimmer. [say]"What are you doing?"[/say]

RE: no one mourns the Void - Panacea - 08-20-2025

It was an absolutely beautiful day. The sun warmed Panacea's face as she glanced up, taking in the light. When she had the opportunity, Panacea enjoyed her long walks and wanderings. She did not always get the chance to do so with her schedule, but she was working on actually getting off her island for more than just work.

She hoisted her bag farther up on her back, and shielded her eyes, looking forward, when something glimmering catches her eye. It was a quick flash of light out of the corner of her eye and caused her to stop. She moves her head again, hoping to catch it. There, she thinks, and walks towards it. Panacea is surprised when, what could pass for poorly kept shrubbery and grounds was a bench. She pulls her bag off of her shoulder to the ground, and she searches through her bag for a cloth and one of her water containers. She pours a small amount of water on the cloth, and begins to wipe at the object. Holy shit. It's a shrine. She begins to wipe away the dirt and grime, to reveal a stained glass bench. Panacea begins to zone out, finding peace in her cleaning and the comfort of the sun and breeze.

Panacea nearly jumps out of her skin when a face pops up out of no where and a curious voice asks, [say]"What are you doing?"[/say] With wide eyes, Panacea places a hand on her chest and can feel her heart pounding. She stands and is face to face with a woman a few inches shorter than her. Since when could glitter speak?

[say]"I'm cleaning off this shrine. Or at least I think it's a shrine."[/say] She glances back down at it. [say]"Honestly, it's so dirty at this point, I'm not sure anyone knows that something is here."[/say]

RE: no one mourns the Void - Nova - 08-21-2025

Unaware that she'd startled the woman, Nova just moves to tilt her head the other direction to inspect what she was working on. It's coated in a thick layer of dirt, but she can see the shimmer of foggy glass beneath, hinting at something that might have once been beautiful. She admittedly hasn't seen many shrines, but there are so many benches around that she questions the woman's assumption, giving a blink of unconvinced curiosity. [say]"It looks like a bench to me."[/say]

Straightening, Nova clasps her hands behind her back, rocking from her heels to her toes and back as she continues staring at the project that's grasped her attention. It doesn't seem that hard, even if the layers look hardened and thick. A little bit of earth magic here and a bit of water magic there would surely clear it all away. It might even look pretty again.

She finally looks to the woman, her blue eyes sparkling when they catch the sunlight. There isn't a hint of sarcasm when she asks, [say]"Why don't you just use magic? It'd be a lot easier."[/say]

RE: no one mourns the Void - Panacea - 08-21-2025

Panacea blinked at the woman in front of her, then turned her head to stare back down at the object she had been cleaning off. She could see how it could be a bench. Something that people may use to honor their deceased loved one, while offering a place to rest and spend time. Huh

Looking back at the woman, Panacea notes that she is now standing up right, and a little less in her personal space. She sighs [say]"I am sure it would be a lot easier. Unfortunately I don't have the magic to do that."[/say] It is not often that Panacea wishes for the magic she has seen and heard about. She is proud of her shifting, and what she can do with it for her goals and for the people she helps. This was definitely a situation where she wished she had magic.

Raising her eyebrows to this new, strange walking ball of energy and light [say]"If you have the time, I am sure who ever is resting here, and their family would appreciate the help if you can."[/say] She sweeps her arm towards the bench. [say]"This may take me all day with a rag and some water. I would love to do this area justice, but I am afraid I may be limited."[/say]

RE: no one mourns the Void - Nova - 08-22-2025

Nova sometimes forgets that people don't have magic, even though her own sister is included in that party. Still, she blinks away the surprise, shrugging her shoulders in a weightless dismissal. [say]"I'd let you borrow my magic, but it doesn't really work like that."[/say] Her giggle chimes bright in the air between them, a breeze catching her hair when she bounces.

The request doesn't snag at any 'kind' or 'good' part of Nova, instead presenting a lovely opportunity for her to show off how awesome she is, an excited grin spreading wide across her face. [say]"Here!"[/say] Hopping forward, she summons forth a combination of water and earth magics to wash and strip away the grime. It practically melts from the surface, small pieces of solid dirt falling away as water streams down the bench to absorb into the ground beneath.

By the time a minute has passed, the bench is clear of debris, its glassy surface now visible if not covered in a matte film that clings to the muted colors. Still, it looks leagues better, and Nova twirls to look at the woman, throwing her hands out in a flurry of illusion starlight, a beaming smile on her face. [say]"Now we can make it sparkle!"[/say]

RE: no one mourns the Void - Panacea - 08-22-2025

The woman's enthusiasm was..... well, startling. Panacea watched in awe as the strange woman cleared off the bench. She did love magic, and watching it always brought her a sense of hope and wonder. To see how science and magic can exist so naturally together in a world. The dirt and grime was quickly washed away by water and she assumed earth magic.

The blonde whirlwind twirled enthusiastically and dramatically threw her hands up in front of Panacea, proclaiming she was done and that they could make it sparkle.

Panacea's eyes were wide, and she thinks she might have lost her eyebrows to her hairline. She wasn't sure what she meant by sparkle and she wasn't sure she wanted to know. [say]"That was amazing, thank you."[/say] she said cautiously, afraid that her praise may spark another enthusiastic reaction. [say]"That would have taken me all day. I'm sure that who ever is here is thankful, and that even though it seems like no one has visited in a long time, the family would appreciate it as well."[/say]She turns her head to look back at the bench, afraid to completely take her eyes off of the woman, for fear of her throwing glitter or something at her. [say]"I'm sure we could add and extra gleam to it though. I may have a wax with me to really make it shine."[/say]

RE: no one mourns the Void - Nova - 08-23-2025

Unfortunately for Panacea, any amount of praise gets Nova bouncing, her chest puffing like she's just slain a might beast rather than the mud on a bench. Just be glad she contains the glitter to herself for now, flecks falling from a leaping unicorn on her dress when she inspects her work, tapping careless fingers over the bench like it doesn't possess the memories of someone's loved one.

[Say]"I guess so..."[/say] Nova furrows her brows for a moment like she's trying to understand, but she quickly gives up with a shrug of her shoulders, blinking wide blue eyes at the woman when she bluntly says, [Say]"I just wanted to make it look pretty."[/say] She'll leave the other reasons for people less selfish than her.

Turning her attention back to the bench and the sparkling task that awaits. [Say]"Ooh. Wax. That's a good idea!"[/say] Nova gives the woman a chance to grab her wax then whisks away to one side of the glass. Pointing like she's somehow in charge of this whole operation and not a chaotic interruption, she gestures insistently. [Say]"I'll start here! You do that side!"[/say] It's not really a command she expects to be ignored when she begins applying and stripping away sections of wax from the stained glass pieces.

RE: no one mourns the Void - Panacea - 08-25-2025

Panacea, being one who hates taking orders, has worked around people long enough to know when a fight isn't even worth fighting. I just need to put up with this lunatic for an hour or so, and then I can never see her again she thinks, while rolling her eyes. She reaches into her bag and pulls out the wax that she carries with her, along with an old rag that she tears into two pieces.

She hands them over and watches the woman start on her side of the bench. She looks up to the sky, asking for any sort of mental fortitude from whoever is listening or watching and begins on her side as well. Every so often she also pulls at some of the weeds that have grown up and around the bench, hoping to speed up the process as much as possible. Not only to do some good for the bench and the family involved, but also to just be able to go home.

RE: no one mourns the Void - Nova - 08-27-2025

Unaware that her brilliant personality is a little too bright for this woman, Nova is very much like the physical embodiment of glitter that Panacea can't wipe off. She sticks stubbornly to the work, shimmering and unignorable as she bounces and hums. There's not much to the process, and she has to make it fun somehow, so she sets to a loud humming that has her magic singing along, adjusting the wax to make the glass shimmer in the sunlight.

Standing suddenly, Nova flicks a speck of dirt from her, a proud grin on her face. [say]"Well, I think that about does it!"[/say] She looks to the woman, indicating to where the colors glint and cast rainbow glows against the ground, dazzling in its beauty. [say]"See?! Sparkles!"[/say] Bouncing, she giggles, [say]"You're welcome!"[/say] Then, like a fairy zipping off to the next flower, Nova spins, her arms thrown out wide as she skips away, exceptionally pleased with her work.

RE: no one mourns the Void - Panacea - 08-29-2025

Panacea has absolutely no words, as she watches the strange woman whose name she never got, now that she thinks about it, skip away. [say]"What the ever loving fuck"[/say] she mumbles under her breath. She glances back down to the bench, which she must say looks much better. Though she begrudgingly admits the sparkles do add something extra.

She smiles at the work accomplished. She stands up, and dusts the dirt off of her legs, throwing the rest of her items in her bag. She smiles up at the sun, then begins her walk down the road. Hoping that what she had done helped the world at least a little bit.
