a fort to be reckoned with - Deimos - 09-17-2025 Despite the peace and repose clinging to his shoulders, it didn’t mean Deimos permitted a whole lot of rest for himself. While there wasn’t the threat of war looming over his shoulders any longer, there was still an entire region to maintain and protect – and with LongNight pressing ever closer, and winter itself, he had an endless barrage of tasks to complete. Today’s was infinitely easier than some; so he hauled his bag of holding over his shoulder and made way for the Palace, heading into one of the many storage areas they had filled to the brim with a variety of things for their citizens. The afternoon’s deliveries would persist in portions of lumber and jerky – ensuring some provisions would hold for the remainder of the week, before doing it again in the following accords for families that needed it. Belial maintained his spot in the sled as head supervisor, screeching unhelpfully while the Sword wielded incantations and his own strength in loading the vessel. Before long, he’d snagged enough for the day’s route, snagging at his list, and passed by a few as they tugged and lugged down the snow-laden path to the first home. RE: a fort to be reckoned with - Nova - 09-17-2025 [say]"DEIMOS!! HI!!!"[/say] The voice echoed through the street, uncaring of who all heard or saw the dramatic flapping of her arm that was supposed to resemble a wave. Nova bounced forward, blonde and pink curls tapping against the top of her pearlescent puffer jacket that looks about three sizes too big. Even her boots look big, pink and fuzzy on the white snow she hops through to stop next to the hulking man. She looked up, beaming as she asked, [say]"Have you seen Sah?!"[/say] Her eyes scanned around the street again for the man, having hoped to run into him, but instead spotting the strange hooved and winged creature screeching next to a sled that should have clued her in that Deimos was working. Nova didn't think on that as she approached without fear or apprehension to gape at the peryton. [say]"What are you?!"[/say] RE: a fort to be reckoned with - Deimos - 09-18-2025 Dropping the first parcel upon a neighbor’s doorstep, he returned to the sled, intending to persist in the delivery process, when he heard his name called, quite loudly, over the snow and pathways. No one was ever quite that chipper, save for his son, and so his head went up immediately, not unlike a predator with ears honed at the ready, gaze narrowing upon the side street and individuals staring back at him, before he saw the unrelenting wave of Nova. He hadn’t expected to see the younger individual at all, nor she apparently, as she hustled and hopped over, asking about Sah. He gave her a brief nod of greeting, but the answer was likely not what she wanted. [say]“Not today,”[/say] he rumbled in return, arching a brow at the endless bounty of energy. People maneuvered onward seconds later; unbothered once he’d been caught and tethered into figuring out where the Wild Thunder was this morning. It didn’t seem to matter a moment later anyway, because her attention was drawn towards Belial – who flashed his fanged grin and unfurled his wings, clearly proud of being the one gaining the attention instead of Zuriel this time. [say]“My companion. A peryton.”[/say] His glance went back and forth between the pair, before shaking his head. [say]“Did you need something?”[/say] RE: a fort to be reckoned with - Nova - 09-19-2025 The unenthusiastic response didn't dim her sparkle, even if a small pout appeared on her lips. But it was quickly vanishing as she moved closer to the creature he called a 'peryton.' Her eyes were wide, inspecting the wings that he spread in presentation. [say]"WOW. You're cool. And you can fly?! What's your name?"[/say] She walked around him, admiring each powerful muscle and soft feather. Hearing Deimos's question, Nova pulled her attention away from the inspection to blink blankly at him for a moment before she was straightening, the excitement returning as she remembered her reason for coming to Halo altogether. [say]"Oh! I think I finally figured out my creation magic and I wanted to show Sah! He helped me make a ring last time, but I think I'm ready to make something magical."[/say] Her hands came out to wiggle playfully, sparkles shimmering around her like a physical representation of the giggles that follow. She looked to him expectantly, waiting for the awe and amazement at her incredible abilities. RE: a fort to be reckoned with - Deimos - 09-20-2025 Belial took to the fussing and compliments with his usual chaotic energy, fluffing himself up, fur and wings and plumage and all, until everything was outspread and he was taking flight, ready to be admired from every angle. Deimos withheld his deep sigh, knowing he’d have to content with the latest billowing arrogance from the presumptuous companion, and merely rolled his eyes as he followed the movements skyward. [say]“Belial.”[/say] Her attention seemed to wax and wane though, and he half wondered if he’d be able to evade and escape while she was distracted; drag the sled further down the street without her taking much notice until it was too late. The small plot proved to be unraveled before he could take a step though, and his brow arched with mild curiosity, unaware there’d be a third mage with their abilities to create. [say]“Congratulations.”[/say] He glanced at the sparkles shimmering nearby, eyes narrowing suspiciously at them, before figuring he’d be a decent host instead of further machinations of eluding the glitter and giggles. [say]“I have that as well, if you still want to try it out.”[/say] RE: a fort to be reckoned with - Nova - 09-21-2025 Nova didn't think about what effect her words might have for the man's afternoon, more inclined to ooh and aah at the peryton's many attractive angles until he was taking flight. She waved her hand, giggling as he rose out of reach. [say]"Bye Belial!"[/say] Turning to Deimos, she couldn't say she was surprised by his monotonous response, although she would have liked something more dramatic - maybe a soliloquy about her awesomeness or an exclamation of her incredible powers. But alas, she'd have to settle for the congratulations, hopping to a stop when he revealed he could also create magic items. [say]"You DO?! How many others are there?!"[/say] It was starting to feel like a common thing to her, and she doesn't like being 'common,' hence the scrunched pout on her lips that seems very out of place. As usual, it quickly shifted as she considered his offer. If she couldn't find Sah, she supposed Deimos was the next best thing. She lifted her head, skipping to his side to follow him wherever he deemed appropriate for their creative juices. [say]"Sure! I had this idea I wanted to try - something for my sister!"[/say] RE: a fort to be reckoned with - Deimos - 09-22-2025 If Nova wanted a dramatic reaction, she should’ve known better than to go to Deimos. He paused for a moment, watching Belial cast himself overhead, before his attention sorted back to the fellow hybrid, brow arching in one subtle motion, but indicating naught else. [say]“I only knew of Sah and myself, and you now.”[/say] In the past there’d been more, like Remi well before demigodhood, and in the interim there might’ve been an accord of others striving for the same – but it took so many elements and time that he wouldn’t be surprised to find it still a rarer occurrence. And while she might not have liked it, he saw it as a positive thing – spread capabilities, rather than the masses coming to him or Sah for their magical needs. Starting to drag the sled further down the road, perhaps in case she negated the offer or that she’d take a hint about his current focus, he dropped off another package upon a resident’s doorstep before nodding the assent. [say]“All right. What were you thinking?”[/say] Uncertain how she went about her creative process, he only knew of his; the sharp images in his mind, the details conformed, and then the influx of all that concentration into singular bits and pieces as they formed between his hands. It’d be interesting to see how another unfurled their depths. RE: a fort to be reckoned with - Nova - 09-24-2025 Blinking away from Belial in the sky above, she let her frustrations fall away. [say]"Oh. Okay."[/say] It was still weird there were three of them, but at least it wasn't as common as she thought. Unbothered by his current level of focus or prioritizations, Nova bounced after Deimos. There was an unnatural lightness to her movements like she was half floating, more than happy to share her vision. [say]"I want to make her a gold necklace with her name, one that covers her body in a shiny gold to protect her when she's in danger! Like this!"[/say] Illusion rippled around her, covering her skin and clothes in a golden shimmer that looked like a layer of sheer starlight falling over her. At her neck sat a golden chain with 'Caly' scrawled over it like a fangirl repping her favorite artist. Nova twirled so he could see if from all sides, beaming with more pride as she showed off the illusion of what she planned for her sister. [say]"Pretty cool, right?!"[/say] RE: a fort to be reckoned with - Deimos - 09-24-2025 Equally unbothered by her reluctance of others knowing specific incantations (and he’d hate to break it to her, but himself and Sah had it well before), he intended to persist in his deliveries, puling the sled forward and off towards another snow-laden road as she spoke. His head tilted as he watched the illusion and shimmer come to life under her explanation, brow arching as a witness to the layers and lacquer of starlight flickering, falling. At her question, he gave a nod, fighting the urge to shrug so it merely looked like agreement squared through his shoulders. [say]“Indeed. Were you planning on embedding any elements into it?” [/say]Pausing in his walk, he grabbed at his bag of holding, peeling away contents until he found his leviathan armor, permitting her to glance and inspect it, but it wouldn't be out of his grasp. [say]“For example, Safrin placed protection on this for any water attacks.”[/say] Perhaps Nova’s sibling would be even more appreciative of such a priceless artifact if it had even more immersed into its future finery.; or maybe Deimos simply preferred dual purposes. RE: a fort to be reckoned with - Nova - 09-24-2025 Nova took the arched brow and nod as high praise, puffing her chest as she let the golden skin fall away - although she still sparkled just a bit. Her head tilted at his question, slightly confused as to what it meant and how she was expected to go about doing that. [say]"That's something you can do?!"[/say] She puckered her lips in thought, tapping a finger to her chin as she said, [say]"I just don't want things hitting her. She's too pretty."[/say] Then he was presenting a piece of armor, and Nova bounced forward to admire the work, hands clasped behind her back. There was awe in her tone as she tilted her head. [say]"My mom did? Wow. Maybe I should ask her to show me how."[/say] Her finger reached forward to blast a small stream of water at the scales, but when she tried to freeze it or jab into the armor, her efforts were deflected. Grinning, she looked up at Deimos. [say]"Cool."[/say] RE: a fort to be reckoned with - Deimos - 09-25-2025 The surprise in her voice kept him from persisting in more of the impending deliveries, for now, his brow arching at her semblances. [say]“Yes. It is not limited to defenses either. I have put in elements into swords, staffs, and the like.”[/say] So that she knew and understood there weren’t vast limitations – namely, if she wanted her sister protected from some portion of the world, she’d be capable of doing it. [say]“Or others like cloaks, jewelry, and more embedded with something extra.” [/say] Letting her take a peek at the leviathan scaled creation, his brow arched further in surprise at the ‘mom’ insinuation – not realizing Safrin had placed more of her children into the world – and with magic layered into them as well. [say]“She is very talented,”[/say] he extended instead, keeping the information tucked away in the back of his mind. As the water sprayed against it, deflecting the elements, he offered more advice. [say]“We will not be able to put in as much power as the gods, but it is still a nice thing to have available. Did you want to try it?” [/say]He could at least describe how he managed to muster the precision within the movements. RE: a fort to be reckoned with - Nova - 09-29-2025 Her finger paused in its tapping as she considered Deimos's explanation. A low hum flowed from her lips, ideas spinning through her mind, making her eyes look unfocused with the rainbow of concepts shimmering behind their gaze. [say]"Hmm... Maybe I'll make something fun for Vespy! He wears a lot of rings, and I bet he'd love if they could affect the elements!"[/say] Mostly for the purpose of beating people up, although Nova liked the idea of something lightning for herself after seeing Jack use it. In her focused assessment of the armor, she missed the surprise on his features, after all, didn't everyone know Safrin and her kids? Regardless, Nova was always happy to chat about her mom and how amazing she was. She beamed, bouncing a little higher as she looked up at him. [say]"She is! She's awesome."[/say] But then the conversation was shifting to Caly and the armor Nova planned to make for her. There wasn't any specific element that came to mind, her concern primarily being Kaisel and if he ever bothered to come around again, and since he couldn't use magic, she just shrugged her shoulders. [say]"Maybe next time. I want to focus on making it sparkly right now."[/say] That meant finding the right material, and she searched Deimos and the immediate surroundings unashamedly for a source. [say]"Do you have any gold I could use? Or know where I could get some?"[/say] RE: a fort to be reckoned with - Deimos - 09-29-2025 Opting to disperse another portion of the lumber and food, he tugged the sled along as Nova continued openly contemplating her choices, at which he could only arch a brow, uncertain and unaware of the individuals she named. Figuring she was one of those who excelled in planning through discourse, namely to herself, he snagged at two packages and left them at the citizen’s door, before returning to hear her chirping about Safrin. He smiled, still keeping that information tucked away, before she seemed to beeline to the other portions at hand. Not wanting to try the placement of elements earned a shrug, not intending to press the issue if she simply didn’t want to do it. The question nearly made him laugh, because the abilities were tucked within herself. Regardless, he turned his palm over, permitting the gilded glow and persuasion of elemental designations to come to the forefront of his gloved hands immediately, openly commanded and wielded with power as easy as drawing breath. [say]“You could probably make your own,”[/say] he commented, before tossing her said pieces of gold, concocted from the same proportions of incantations she already possessed. RE: a fort to be reckoned with - Nova - 09-30-2025 She watched with fascination as Deimos turned to her, magic coiling into the materials she'd requested, even as she blinked in slow realization of his comment. [say]"Oh! I guess you're right."[/say] Tilting her head, she took the glittering pieces in one hand as she looked to the other, calling forth a thread of golden magic that coalesced and solidified in the palm of her hand like it had always existed. A proud smile followed her whimsical giggle. [say]"Now, let's see..."[/say] Her tongue stuck out, placed between her teeth in concentration as she called forth the various magics to hijack the materials. It melted and formed under her scrutiny, twisting into elegant strokes and chain links that shimmered unnaturally in the sunlight. She could feel the protection taking root, giving shape to the thoughts and intentions before settling into an identical display of the necklace she'd worn earlier, a gold pendant with 'Caly' written in beautiful cursive. Giggling with delight, she offered forth her joined hands, the jewelry offered for Deimos to inspect. [say]"What do you think? Pretty good, right?!"[/say] The bright grin on her face should give him all the suggestion he needed for what his answer should be. --- Nova has made: Shield Your Eyes | A gold pendant in the shape of 'Caly' that expands into a shimmering protective layer over the wearer capable of blocking physical damage.
