Wrong answer, it seemed. The foolish had played too hard, lost in the willful exuberance; her smile faded, the threat loosened, the warning pronounced. Her eyes lowered to the ground as the bloom of failure stretched along the canopies and down into her chest – not the first, nor the last – ignorance a constant cycle, a constant tale within her story. A part of her wondered why she’d even bothered, nothing prepared, flying blindly into the sanction of the beautiful wood, living on a whim and a prayer and the bounty of her inexperiences. They hadn’t paid off today. [say]“Okay.”[/say] Her heart sank but she tried not to let it show, tried to admit that it was her own fault, and there would be another time, another place, another moment, where she could find what she was looking for. [say]“Thank you,”[/say] she proffered, gathering everything together, still polite to a Chieftess embroidered in the strength the honeybee girl wished she had – before shuffling out from where she’d come, Fangorn tumbling behind, no closer to her goals.
