golden gravity and half-forged knives - Deimos - 03-01-2026

The season’s influence and alteration wasn’t much of a surprise; this year seemed to go all out when it came to elemental fixations in the climate (though he’d yet to hear the screaming adornments). So beneath the branches and brambles of the Mathair, Deimos quietly waited, unbothered by the haze or occasional drip, standing amidst the roots, quietly examining and scrutinizing while he bided time before Kiada’s arrival; occasionally snagging at some of the water cascading down and making a cascade or ripple of the filaments, letting them embark slowly or on a brief torrent of air, wild makeshift patterns of amusement that Erebos would have appreciated.

But this wasn’t about his son – today was dedicated to Kiada, and all the news that came with family endeavors. Presuming she’d been getting along well with Fox, marriage, and things in the Grounds, he hadn’t heard otherwise, the intentions were to deliver announcements in person (though the invitation had been by letter, naturally), and then perhaps hunt and gallivant through the forest, snagging and snatching what they could for the Leafchange goddess.

RE: golden gravity and half-forged knives - Kiada - 03-01-2026

The rain was one thing – the screaming rain on the other hand was new, and it was something that Kiada had realized immediately was jarring the second she left the Hollowed Grounds to come and meet Deimos here. Quietly grateful to leave that portion behind, she drifts through the Greatwood’s paths toward the Mathair, relishing in the fact that it wasn’t screaming here yet, and as she jostles the bag over her shoulder to situate it just right, she finds she can’t wait to get there to delve into the cider she’d brought with – something she’d picked up in the Grounds that she’s sure Deimos might appreciate just as much.

It’s almost like the Greatwood takes pity on her, though, perhaps for the past things she’d endured here – because she arrives swiftly, hair swept back and horns curling around her ears with a bright grin aimed at Deimos as she hurries her steps to meet him with a bright and tight hug. “[say]Hey you![/say]” She chimes right before she collides with him.

RE: golden gravity and half-forged knives - Deimos - 03-01-2026

Kiada’s arrival made him take a deep breath; a stillness to come over him as fortune favored the bold. [say]“Hey,”[/say] he rumbled in return, arms wide open as she came barreling into his chest, granting a low and deep chuckle amongst his lungs as he gathered her into him. Races might have changed, several times over, as he watched for her horns, but otherwise tucked her into that safe, calm resolve. She’d always be the Harpy; proud and vigilant and determined, with all the ferocity coming through the intertwining alterations. Bold, capable, strong. It was how she’d endured all the other shapes and shifts.

Sliding her back only so he could glance upon her, a very casual scrutiny, he didn’t see anything alarming nor worth meriting any apprehension or worry over. Billowing away a few raindrops that strayed from the overhanging branches, he tilted his head, granting another juvenile grin. [say]“How are things?”[/say] With Fox or with the Grounds; any intonations at all. [say]“I had some news to share, then I thought we could enjoy a hunt.”[/say]

RE: golden gravity and half-forged knives - Kiada - 03-02-2026

Kiada curls into him with the hug, warmed by it and selfishly leeching a bit of it from the Warden as she knows he’ll provide it. As she withdraws, though, her tail twitches against her heels as she blinks her iceberg gaze up at him, beaming her smile at him as she notices the rain drops blow away. “[say]Things are good![/say]” She says almost immediately, settling in for the easy chatter.

Before she can elaborate, he mentions news to share and she straightens up a bit – her gaze growing a bit more curious as her lips twist into a slightly coy smile in response. “[say]You know I’m always ready for a hunt.[/say]” She touts playfully, but her eyes seem to suggest she’s far more curious about the news. “[say]Well, go on, tell me the news and I’ll bore you with how my life’s been since we last talked.[/say]” Bouncing her brows as if it might be enticing enough, Kiada’s smile lingers.

RE: golden gravity and half-forged knives - Serendipity - 03-02-2026

You are interrupted by a sharp, high-pitched screech, accompanied by a dazzling fork of lightning that leaves its image burning behind your eyes for a long time afterwards.

You swear the afterburn looks almost like a face, the mouth stretched wide in an agonised scream. If you blink too quickly in the wake of it, the face starts to look like someone you might know.

You have encountered one of the Scream Rain SE serendipities! You may use this to complete requirement 1. of the seasonal event. Please note: this serendipity CANNOT be used for levelling purposes.

RE: golden gravity and half-forged knives - Deimos - 03-02-2026

Patient as ever, he waited on the heels of her elaborations; grin already forming again in the corners of his mouth. Good could mean any number of things, and while fully aware of her predilection towards mauling (a similar, shared, family trait; races not withstanding), he couldn’t help but laugh at the sentiments of ‘boring’ him. [say]“With Fox and Danta around?”[/say] He’d just had a fire throwing match with the latter last season; the presumption that either of them couldn’t keep her wholly entertained was met with a wrinkle to his nose and the low rumble of his chuckle.

But she wanted the news foremost regardless, and given how long he’d already kept it, thinking it best reserved for present company rather than letter, his smile turned soft, juvenile. [say]“Evie is expecting again. Later this season.”[/say] Pausing, because it’d been a little while since they’d last met, he persisted, tilting his head vaguely, the contentment pervading through his frame; naught apprehensive or withdrawn. [say]“And Erebos aged himself up at a shrine – though not by much. So do let me know if you are ever interested in babysitting.” [/say]

Before the conversation could turn more amusing, there was the sharp pitch of a scream. Glancing upwards, as anyone would do, his eyes narrowed, stance immediately guarded, ready, fervent for some distant fray, when the streak of lightning bit through the sky. Swearing he was seeing things, though this was Caido, so perhaps it was all the more likely, he could’ve almost drawn a face in the afterburn of lightning and wails. [say]“Lovely,”[/say] he rumbled, distinctly sarcastic and dry.

RE: golden gravity and half-forged knives - Kiada - 03-03-2026

“[say]I keep them in line.[/say]” Kiada touts playfully, her tail snapping lightly as if in explanation enough that she manages to keep things easy and comfortable. Not that she thinks Deimos would think she’s lying. But she lingers close as his smile softens, and she immediately knows it’ll be good news based off his expressions alone.

And of course, it is, and as the pause occurs, her eyebrows shoot up to the sky and she barely has time to silence the scree that starts to leave her when he drops the other bombshell. It slips out of her after, right alongside the rain that screams and thunders around them, flinching slightly and curling into Deimos’ side as the rain starts to get back to somewhat normal.

Glaring up at the sky, though, she shakes it off to look back at the Warden with an easier smile now that she realizes it’s the rain. “[say]I’m so happy for you![/say]” She slips back into it like a worn coat, the tip of her tail flicking back and forth. “[say]And I would love to babysit, thank you very much. When is Evie expecting?[/say]” She asks, brightening immensely.

RE: golden gravity and half-forged knives - Deimos - 03-03-2026

[say]“That does not surprise me,”[/say] he mused, steadying his breath as the rest of the screams pooled and pulled away, but leaving a distinct impression that would linger in the back of his mind for a while. He’d much rather focus on Kiada, on the hunt, on good news prospering for a change, rather than the detrimental wakes that once tied and knotted everything together. [say]“Anything exciting happening in the Grounds?”[/say]

Her own ebullience wafted and floated though, and he granted another grin as she curled back against him. [say]“Thank you, and we will take you up on it,”[/say] as much as a challenge or dare. [say]“Towards the end of Leafchange.” [/say]A change in the usual winter birthday alignments; what that conveyed, other than different timing, he couldn’t say. Tilting his head a little and beginning to wind his way around the tree, mostly so they could begin their hunt, his brows furrowed slightly, a weight on his mind. [say]“Have you heard from Ru lately?”[/say]

RE: golden gravity and half-forged knives - Kiada - 03-04-2026

As the screams fade away and he asks her if there’s anything exciting happening in the Grounds, Kiada’s smile returns brightly if not a bit mischievously, playful as her tail flicks back and forth, sending little droplets of rain flying each and every direction. “[say]Well… We’re making a healing wine fountain.[/say]” She perks up with it – quite pleased with the idea of it, personally. “[say]Oh, and Asta and Danta got engaged over Longheat.[/say]” She grins, like the tea of all these little things are precisely what keeps her thriving in the Grounds.

And maybe it is. “[say]Fox and I are doing great, though I’ll be relieved when the fountain’s made so I don’t have to worry about him too often.[/say]” Such was her job, she supposes, married to a monster hunter. She would know – she used to be one.

As for baby sitting, Kiada beams with a plan in mind to babysit in the future, something she finds she can’t wait to tell Fox about. “[say]So soon![/say]” She chimes, her hands clasping together with her clear delight. “[say]I’m so happy for you guys. Is Erebos excited?[/say]” She asks, before the question of Ru distracts her and her brows pinch as she straightens up, tail slowing its motion. “[say]I haven’t.. Why? What happened?[/say]”

RE: golden gravity and half-forged knives - Deimos - 03-04-2026

Deimos had always been nosy to a fault; started from childhood and far, more further developed in times of war, when the minimal amount of information could mean a life or death scenario. Still, even in peace and repose, he couldn’t quite help himself from asking, another light smile developing across his features as she relayed the information around her home. [say]“Ah, I am not surprised,”[/say] by the wine and healing properties development. [say]“Safrin replaced our springs, in case you ever feel inclined to visit again,” [/say]at which he wrinkled his nose, head tilting and eyes widening at the latest string of news. [say]“Well, congratulations to them. I can send something along,”[/say] though if he was surprised, he didn’t show it – Danta was always a peculiar puzzle.

Nodding at the implications of Fox and the fountain, he snorted. [say]“He will probably feel the same in regards to you,”[/say] given Kiada’s own proclivity towards dangerous notions. The tease extended on a wink.

As for Erebos, they’d already had several discussions over the matter. [say]“Initially he seemed a bit nervous. Said he did not know how to be a big brother,” [/say]at which he shrugged; nobody really understood until it happened to them. [say]“But we talked it over – he seemed more excited about the prospect.” [/say]Though Deimos half-wondered if this was because he’d be able to lord over something, but kept that mostly to himself; hopeful he was wrong.

Ru was another notion, and he sighed, snagging at a piece of parchment in his pockets, handing it over for her to peruse and read. [say]“Sunjata was worried last season because she had not been seen since LongNight. I spent quite a bit of time searching for her. Turns out something happened, and she is alive. But I received only that.”[/say] A shrug followed through, waiting until she had the opportunity to comb through all of it. [say]“And no response after I sent one of my own.”[/say] Perhaps she was avoiding him, though he couldn’t fathom why. [say]“I may just seek her out when I have time.”[/say]

RE: golden gravity and half-forged knives - Kiada - 03-05-2026

“[say]Ooh, I’ll keep it in mind.[/say]” She beams, because until she manages to figure out how to get Fox there, she’s inclined to remain close to him for the vast majority – aside from the occasional visits, of course, but if she wanted to take an extended trip she’d have to put more thought into it. “[say]It’s kind of been an open secret. They haven’t announced it really, but Danta’s got this ring and they do keep saying fiancé in passing, so.[/say]” She snorts, rolling her eyes a bit fondly at the fact they think they’re being sly about it.

But everyone already knew. “[say]I’ll make sure they see it when they get back from their Leafchange vacation, whenever that is.[/say]” She snorts, letting the lingering swell of screaming rain roll off her scarred spine to focus on the information Deimos offers.

Her attention focuses on his face as he mentions that Erebos was nervous, but with talking about it made it much easier to swallow, she laughs lightly. “[say]I’m sure he’ll do great.[/say]” She murmurs brightly, a briefly there thing before news of Hotaru drops like a shadow cleaving the good news in two.

Her brows pinch and she looks away from Deimos as she thinks, before her iceberg gaze flits back toward him. “[say]Let me know what she says. If you’re trying to get ahold of her, I doubt I’ll have better luck. But I can try if you want?[/say]” She asks, tail twitching at her heels.

RE: golden gravity and half-forged knives - Deimos - 03-05-2026

On the notions of open secrets and lack of announcements, Deimos unfurled a snort, somewhat in understanding, since he was more of the furtive variety, though clearly Danta was not. [say]“Good for them though,”[/say] because this seemed to be a time of renewal and reforging, after everything the Family had done. Births. Marriages. Cycles of rebuilding and moving onward, where in prior years it would’ve seemed impossible, insurmountable.

Ru was another thing though; not wholly unassailable, but certainly a concept that bristled at him. Kiada receiving naught either didn’t leave him feeling any better about the situation; another dead end. The Valkyrie and any amount of dramatics went hand in hand, and if something disastrous had befallen her, with no explanation from either Sunjata or herself, he could continue to presume the worst. [say]“No. That is all right. Maybe I will search through Torchline again. See if she went to Flora.”[/say] Shaking his head and striving to release the tension building, he figured the best way forward now was the bloodletting, pretending he could put it out of his mind for more than a few seconds. [say]“Enough about that. What do we want to hunt?”[/say]

RE: golden gravity and half-forged knives - Kiada - 03-06-2026

“[say]Yeah.[/say]” Kia agrees warmly, a softer smile on her face with the thought of it. “[say]They’re happy. It’s been nice.[/say]” Not that it wasn’t nice any other time, but there was a certain fondness for the Maverick that Kiada harbored and it made her happy to know that he was content and happy with something she never thought she’d imagine him doing. Perhaps it has to do with Astaroth and the way he’s shaken up a bit of Danta’s typical norms.

Either way, the conversation of Ru’s whereabouts concern her, and she pulls her attention away from Deimos to look at the trunk of the Mathair, as if remembering for a brief moment she’d brought her own offering. Dropping down while they decide, she opens the bag at her side to drop off a few talismans and glittery trinkets she thinks that the Mathair might appreciate, nestling them into her roots. “[say]It would make sense that she did, I’d think. Let me know what you find out, though.[/say]” She murmurs before she stands, shooting him an easier smile as if it might help him.

Prospects of hunting has the bloodlust roiling under her skin, though, and she perks up immediately with the thought of it. “[say]It’s been a while since I’ve had a glotter..[/say]” She tilts her head, dark brows bouncing playfully. “[say]How does that sound?[/say]”

RE: golden gravity and half-forged knives - Deimos - 03-09-2026

While they thought and mulled, at least partially over Grounds’ entanglements and some over Ru’s constant state of unknown, Deimos pulled out his own offerings. Knowing and experiencing some of the Mathair’s…particular traits (trying to get her from point A to point B when she’d been recovered had been an interesting experience for their group – considering the threat of being eaten multiple times), the Sword provided a large amount of ursur jerky, and some fresher counterparts of ningo and chickens, placing them close to the roots and any other carnivorous plants. [say]“I will.”[/say] Mostly to see if she was safe or not, and then go from there.

At her choice of hunt, he arched his brow, returning from his crouch back up to full height. Amused, a bout of a chuckle rumbled through, perhaps intrigued by the potential challenge or Kiada's seeming hostility towards the beasts. [say]“I have never hunted a glotter,”[/say] though he knew enough about them from all their animal reports; he’d never considered them for much of a monster details. [say]“Lead the way.”[/say]
