baby, let the games begin - Aithne - 04-02-2026

They end up, before long, on the shores of the Oasis. The blonde woman is like a firecracker, unable to sit still and just as loud and feisty, too. Despite the urge to cause trouble, Aithne likes the stranger's vibe, so she sticks to following instructions as the keep searching for Jeff - though who Jeff is remains, at this point, anyone's guess.

[say]"Jeeeeeefffffff,"[/say] Aithne trills, looking for anything sparkly and blue and coming up empty. Shrugging, she continues along the edge of the Oasis, glancing out over some of the boats floating on the water. Pulling her lighter from her pocket, the Ancient flips the lid up and down, toying with the flames as she searches. After a time, she's half convinced that Jeff doesn't exist. [say]"He's not this way."[/say]

RE: baby, let the games begin - Nova - 04-02-2026

Standing at the bank of the water, Nova fists her hands at her side, pressing her chin into the air as she joins in the call to find Jeff. [say]"JEEEEEFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"[/say] Her voice echoes, bouncing off trees to give the bright tone a resounding resonance that stretches far and wide. She's quite sure it has to be impossible for him not to hear her, but she still doesn't see any signs of the glittery blue hat.

Nova turns to look at the woman, an intimidating level of stubborn determination plastered in the bright smile she wears. [say]"Look harder! He's impossible to miss!"[/say] They have to find him eventually. After all, he can't stay gone for long. They'd miss each other too much. But he is known to hide when he gets shy, and she doubts he'll be walking around in the open.

RE: baby, let the games begin - Aithne - 04-02-2026

While Aithne calls mostly to humor her new friend, the blonde calls with some volume. Her cry echoes off the trees and bounces off the water, bringing a fanged grin to Aithne's face. Poor Jeff. If he's anywhere around, he's certainly heard his name quite a few times by now. Maybe he's in hiding. The thought delights the Ancient.

[say]"I'll look by the boats,"[/say] Aithne calls back lazily, making her way over to where the iconic Oasis rafts are moored. She isn't going to find Jeff there, she's sure, certain that she would have seen an impossible-to-miss man in her search by now, but given that her new friend doesn't seem convinced he's long gone, Aithne will keep looking.

She peers behind boats, beneath hulls, even going so far as to peek under a few overturned rafts just in case Jeff got creative in his hiding place. She doesn't find a person, but she does find some blue glitter. [say]"Hey, you said blue glitter, right?"[/say] she asks, glancing over toward the blonde. [say]"He might have been over here, but I don't see him now."[/say]

RE: baby, let the games begin - Nova - 04-02-2026

Nova can feel that Jeff is close, but the precise location is hard, so she continues her search, staring out across the opening to the rocky bank of the river. She's about to say they should split up when the woman seems to have the same thought, announcing her plans to check the boats.

Nodding her head in a flaring of red and blonde curls, she gave a deciding bounce. [say]"Okay! I'll check in the grasses!"[/say] Then she spins, a gust of wind magic threading through the strands to cut through the field, looking for signs of Jeff or the glitter he carries.

After a few minutes, the woman's call stops her in her tracks, her body snapping up straight as a rod. [say]"OOH! REALLY?! LET ME SEE!!"[/say] In a flurry of sparkles, she rushes across the field, grass bending in the force of her wake.

RE: baby, let the games begin - Aithne - 04-02-2026

The woman comes screaming across the field in a flurry of sparkles and screeching. It's all Aithne can do not to cackle at her expense. She ducks her head to hide the twitch of her lips under the guise of pointing to the glitter tucked between boats. Maybe she's imagining it, but she thinks she sees a bit more leading towards the distant Spire. If she'd known she was going to be roped into such a strange game of hide and seek, she might have declined to assist, but alas, here she is, and now she's invested.

So she waits for her new friend to arrive at her side, indicating the boats, then trails her finger towards the spot in the grass a few feet away, where something decidedly sparkles. [say]"Is that more?"[/say] she asks, moving closer and crouching down for a better look.

RE: baby, let the games begin - Nova - 04-02-2026

In a flutter of rainbow fabric and trembling magic, Nova scurries to the woman's side, practically skidding to a crouched stop next to the overturned boat. There is unmistakably a sparkle to the ground, her head bobbing as she lets out a considering hum. [say]"Hmmm. Yep! Jeff was definitely here!"[/say]

Her eyes dart to where she points, seeing another subtle shimmer along the grass's edge, making her eyes brighten, an excited twitch running through her. [say]"It is!"[/say] She rushes forward, scanning the path with her eyes up towards a distant path. [say]"I think it heads that way! Come on!"[/say] Although she doesn't grab the woman's hand, there's clearly an expectation that Aithne follows as she sprints towards the black blemish ahead.
