theseus walks - Ronin - 06-22-2019

He'd gotten that feeling again, in the labyrinth with Roana. That pull towards... something. Of course, at the time of his conversation with his fellow former captain, Ronin had not been in any position to explore. Not only that, but with the labyrinth's penchant for moving around at random, he felt he'd probably end up lost and dead if he tried to tease his way to the source of the feeling.

Luckily enough, however, Caido's starlord had a handy little trick up his sleeve to deal with the pesky hedges.

So it was not Ronin who strolled directly into the shrine - his astral projection did the job for him. Shimmering with starlight and unfazed by the way the hedges wanted to block him off, Ronin was able to walk through them rather than around them. In no time at all he found himself at the forgotten little shrine - naught but a circle of stones and a few burnt offerings.

Still, it was a shrine. So why, Ronin wondered, did it still feel so dead? That pull was gone, now that he had found the place, and in its place... nothing. Ronin wrinkled his nose, walking a slow perimeter around the shrine but saying nothing.

The man says nothing, and the circle of stones respond in kind. A breeze whistles through the air - the sound of cackling, of electricity, of song, and the ground rumbles uncertainly beneath the demigod's feet.

But no one will come for this not-man. They call him special, but this time he simply does not meet the mark.

Whilst aware of the apparently supernatural behaviour rumbling through the circle of stones, as a projection Ronin didn't see much in it. He slowed his steps to listen to the voices on the breeze, the discord in the air, the unquiet beneath his feet... but ultimately that was it.

Taking a long, deep breath (one that was entirely unnecessary in a spirit body), the hunter gazed one more time upon the shrine before turning and walking away. He ghosted through the hedges as if they were nothing - much to their irritation - and was gone from the sacred place only moments later.
