according to visions - Deimos - 06-06-2026

The Sword had a natural curiosity; Caido just instigated it further with every alteration and change. After a back and forth from land to land over a series of days, he opted to return, Idalia strapped to his chest and in tow, to do some quiet investigating. Perhaps seeking something that had caused the interim of slumber, marks and pathways of bizarre figures, or other individuals looking for the same information.

Instead, he found the usual Peepholes and his own fussy infant, unhelpful in both regards, and turned to another portion of the Oerwoud’s interim. The Leap of Faith was always a sight to behold, despite a lack of details, particulars, or directions from the latest incident – at least it was beautiful to survey.

Belial scouted overhead while he stuck to a lingering trail by edges of mist, tilting his head to the sounds of the waterfall. It nearly drowned out Idalia’s squeals, this time of contentment, as he patted her back and soothed whatever had been bothering. [say]“Do not think we could surprise anything here,”[/say] he murmured to her, mostly out of levity, shaking his head as she gurgled a sentiment in return.

RE: according to visions - Alys - 06-08-2026

The Leap of Faith was a sight to behold. Alys had never been before, unless one counted seeing glimpses in passing from far below. Today, though, she had made the climb from Tanglefoot, up above trees and clouds until she was so high that she thought she might crest the top and be amongst the stars. It was a strange feeling when she finally crested the top of the climb to look out over the Oerwoud far below. It was beautiful, to be sure. Awe-inspiring, certainly. But she couldn't help but feel that she was missing something - or maybe someone to share the view with. But her partner was back home and it was only Alys and Sascha who had made the climb today, and she would have to be content with that.

Drawing closer to the edge - though not too close, for fear she might tumble right off the side of the cliffside - Alys peered down at the dense mist laying at the bottom. She could see forever, it felt like. What would it be like to do a reading here, so high above the weight of the world far below?

Stepping back, Alys meandered along the cliffside, keeping a respectable distance from the edge. Before long, she spotted a familiar figure. Surprised and pleased, Alys smiled as she approached Deimos and his newest addition to the Ignatius family. Sascha padded along beside her, bleating a soft greeting as the pair neared. [say]"Dei!"[/say] Alys said. [say]"What a pleasant surprise! How are you? Who's this little one?"[/say]

RE: according to visions - Deimos - 06-09-2026

For a few seconds, he glanced out at the mist, then maneuvered it outward, intertwining the Air incantations until they were wholly in his possession. Then, much like moving a cloud out of his way, he motioned the foggy intervals towards his right, leaving the environment without the falsifying additions. From there, one could see the intervals of pathways configuring around swirls of water, rather than stepping outwards to their death. Idalia squealed, eyes going upwards to watch the ascension of vapor and droplets, before another approached.

Though not a stranger at all; he’d know Alys immediately. The surprise on his features, briefly registered by the escalation of his brows, and then an amused grin, didn’t remain for too long. [say]“Busy,”[/say] which was a usual answer, but with direct pathways to infants on his chest and leading an entire region while trying to puzzle through the latest perpetual state of ‘something afoot’. [say]“How are you? It has been a while.” [/say]

At being mentioned, Idalia’s wide gaze slid from her father, and then to Alys. A curious expression stayed, as if taking every single detail and movement in, before narrowing slightly, seemingly keen and suspicious. The Sword tried to withhold his laughter, and instead composed himself into some orchestrated diligence. [say]“This is Idalia.”[/say]

RE: according to visions - Alys - 06-10-2026

The brief flare of surprise was expected; Alys hadn't seen Deimos in some time, and certainly hadn't anticipated running into him out here, of all places. Not that she was that surprised - he did have a tendency to show up just about everywhere, for any multitude of reasons. He'd always been someone who stayed busy, and she wondered if he'd ever taken that vacation they'd once discussed. [say]"As per usual,"[/say] she joked, smiling fondly up at him. [say]"But hopefully with good things, or at least not Caido-in-danger-again things?"[/say]

As for herself, she'd kept herself busy, but it had been the kind of busy that became monotonous, the kind of busy when someone was just looking for work to do rather than doing something meaningful. Now she meant to change all that. [say]"I have been well. I took a bit of time to stay home and rest after the Family left, but now I think I'm ready to venture back out into the world again."[/say]

Turning her attention towards the infant, Alys smiled indulgently. [say]"Hello, Idalia,"[/say] she said. [say]"It's a pleasure to meet you."[/say] Gaze flicking back up to Deimos, she added, [say]"Congratulations."[/say]

RE: according to visions - Serendipity - 06-10-2026

Bright streaks flash between the trees, bursts of colour weaving through leaves and vines at impossible speed. Treeflits zip past in chaotic arcs, too fast to follow individually.

They twist and turn in midair, leaving momentary trails of colour behind them as they dart through the jungle.

The flits never stop moving for long, turning the forest into a living canvas of motion.

Treeflits

Areas Found: Oerwoud — Common

Jewel-toned, rainbow feathered creatures the length of a human arm, treeflits are legless lizards that can extend two small pairs of feathered wings to flutter and glide between branches as they seek out their favourite foods of insects and flowers. They have bright black eyes and communicate by songs. A treeflit can harmonize with itself and can mimic a vast array of sounds from its environment. They are clever and mischievous creatures that will steal shiny objects from travelers and replace them with tasty beetles in a form of trade. It is thought that they can see through illusions.

RE: according to visions - Deimos - 06-11-2026

[say]“A mix,”[/say] but he gave her a wink in regards to mostly good things. There was always Halo itself, the guild, and any other anomaly combination of both, then his own family and friends who kept him tethered to multitudes and litanies. At least he wouldn’t have to indulge her in any recent ongoings with the Family or something else barbaric, but Caido had its way of causing chaos in little bits and warnings, before the inevitable implosion. [say]“We recently had a strange experience in the Peepholes. I was being nosey and investigating around here. Just in case,”[/say] at which he wrinkled his nose again, hoping it would feed more into humor than whatever crisis could be brewing underneath palms and alms.

While Idalia surveyed Alys up and down, either because she was an infant or she’d inherited both parents talent for scrutiny, Deimos listened to the Seer’s antics, nodding along at the notions of staying close to home, then venturing outward. While Deepfrost wasn’t the usual season for it, sometimes restlessness had no timeframe. [say]“Seen anything noteworthy? Though I will say you missed our skijoring. You will have to come visit and try it out.”[/say]

The youth’s preference for greetings lately had either been scowling, ignoring, or napping, so she blinked at the mage again, still wide-eyed, before glancing up at her father with one signature squeal. [say]“Thank you,”[/say] he returned instead. Then there were flits of color all around them, and he arched a brow, watching as the jewel-toned creatures flickered back and forth. Idalia was more than eager for that, a smile soon appearing on her face, little hands outstretched for portions she wouldn’t be able to reach.

RE: according to visions - Alys - 06-17-2026

A 'strange experience in the Peepholes' was enough to draw a sharp look from Alys, whose brow furrowed with concern. [say]"Strange how?"[/say] she pressed. Was there something nefarious afoot, or was she just being paranoid after all that had happened? Surely, if something was stirring in the world, she'd have dreamt about it - or perhaps that ability had eluded her, after the Family's departure. Only time would tell.

As for her own travels, Alys shook her head. [say]"I haven't seen anything out of the ordinary,"[/say] she said. [say]"Just a normal Deepfrost, so far."[/say] And she sincerely hoped it stayed that way. [say]"But I will visit soon."[/say] Even if she couldn't quite bring herself to drag Tal back to the region - not after Sascha's death there - she did miss the tundra terribly, sometimes.

She studied Idalia for a moment, a soft smile on her face, affection for her friends and happiness for their joy evident on her face. Then tidbits of color were swirling into existence, and Alys smiled to find a horde of treeflits had joined them. [say]"Ah,"[/say] she said, laughter dancing in her eyes. [say]"I see that the treeflits are far more exciting than I."[/say] Not that she could blame the youth - she would probably prefer colorful creatures to most people, too.

RE: according to visions - Deimos - 06-18-2026

While the treeflits roamed in their bright hues, a reminder that this place could be striking and beautiful rather than regarded in a suspicious light, he sighed, eyes following and tracking the creatures as he tried to explain the incident. [say]“A bunch of us had gathered in the Peepholes. Saw a strange, golden light,”[/say] and in his eternally wary and skeptical mind, had wanted to trace after it. Alys probably understood that they’d predictably followed it. [say]“Some were forced into a bizarre sleep – like a weird dream.”[/say] His nose wrinkled a touch, knowing if he were in someone else’s shoes and listening to such notions, he might’ve shrugged it off; but Caido was Caido, and often the warnings came well before the storms.

Alys hadn’t seen anything bizarre or noteworthy though, so he nodded, content with at least, for the moment, naught appeared to be perplexing. Snorting at the other depictions though, he glanced down at Idalia, who was still enraptured by the bright streaks of lizards. [say]“Do not be too offended. Hard to surpass these,”[/say] and Idalia giggled in response, chubby fingers clutching air.

RE: according to visions - Alys - 06-26-2026

Alys frowned, her brow creasing at the notion of a strange light that led folk into a forced sleep. She considered this for a moment, trying to think back on if she'd seen anything related. [say]"Hmm,"[/say] she murmured, crossing her arms over her chest. [say]"That's... concerning."[/say] Perhaps it was nothing but coincidence, but given Caido's history, she was rather less inclined to think so. Still, when the Family was in power, she'd been plagued by vague, but worrying dreams. That she'd yet to have any in recent seasons was at least somewhat reassuring. But since she didn't have anything to add, and the treeflits drew attention away from the strange happenings of Caido, Alys let it go for now. Perhaps she could ask around on her travels, see if there was anything odd that she could report back.

With Idalia suitably entertained, an affectionate smile appeared on Alys's face. Though she'd never, thus far, particularly wanted children of her own, she could still appreciate how adorable they were. [say]"How is Halo?"[/say] she asked as the lizards flitted around them. [say]"And the rest of the family?"[/say]

RE: according to visions - Deimos - 06-27-2026

His brow quirked upward at her pause, and subsequent statement, perhaps giving himself some inward sigh of relief that he hadn’t been too farfetched in believing it concerning. That was how things seemed to work in Caido. Brief glimpses of things, before the inevitable swing and rush. Try as they might, it was difficult to get the footholds in without the whole barrage of knowledge, so there they were again, either investigating something minor or the beginnings of another major maelstrom. [say]“If it were just one, most could probably chock it up to a strange dream,”[/say] because many had experienced those – an inevitable thing in the midst of slumber. Or, like himself and several others, had been bombarded with prophetic edges beforehand, either courtesy of gods or something else. [say]“But with so many of us,”[/say] he shrugged, like trying to roll it off his shoulders might ensure it didn’t anchor so tightly there. [say]“Seemed odd.”[/say] Not wanting to wholly raise an alarm, but certainly enact upon one’s senses. [say]“Let me know if you do hear of anything else suspicious. Who knows, nowadays.”[/say]

Striving not to bring the edges into dour and sour constraints, he snorted at Idalia, making gleeful noises towards the departing treeflits, as if her voice might chase down and wrangle the colors from leaving. [say]“Halo is well. We have altered a few things – temperature, made some upgraded changes to defenses,”[/say] which wouldn’t surprise her in the least, given who he was and the world that could survive so much cold. [say]“The family is good. Evie is still improving on our medical wings, and Amhran and Erebos have grown. The latter brought himself to a shrine – said he wanted to help with things,”[/say] he sighed, having accepted it but still discontent on parts of a childhood lost, however sharp, fragile, or fleeting. Regardless, the Sword grinned, proud, despite all the misgivings.  [say]“So he is 7 now, has his own companion. Smart, outgoing, friendly. If you meet him he will probably try to write you letters after.”[/say] Tilting his head a fraction, the curiosity remained, though not of Talyson, but of Alys and all her ventures. [say]“Everything else going well? How is King’s End?”[/say]

RE: according to visions - Alys - 07-01-2026

[say]"Sure, people have weird dreams all the time, but so many seems..."[/say] Alys trailed off, gaze distant for a moment as she considered the implications of such a thing. Given her unique abilities, she had long since been one to hold one's dreams in high regard, but with nothing further to contemplate on the subject, she simply nodded. [say]"If I hear or see anything, you'll be the first to know,"[/say] she promised.

On the Halovian front, Alys seemed to settle into something quietly nostalgic, smiling softly at the mention of various changes. She would have to visit soon to see the upgrades for herself. As for Deimos and his family, her countenance warmed again. [say]"Oh, seven?"[/say] she exclaimed, perhaps a touch dismayed at having missed so much of the boy's childhood. After all, Deimos was a dear friend, and she had been remiss enough without having neglected his son, too. [say]"That must be quite the adjustment."[/say] For Deimos and Evie, certainly; and for Erebos, as well.

King's End, though, was well enough, and Alys said as much. [say]"Everything is going well. King's End grew substantially with all the Breakers who came after the city fell. It's been good for business, if nothing else - but they're hardworking folk, for all that they used to be so prejudiced."[/say] She'd met a few who viewed her with suspicion, but overall she'd had more positive experiences than not.

RE: according to visions - Deimos - 07-02-2026

If Deimos hadn’t been involved in multiple events with dreams in the past, he might have been just as skeptical as others, dismissed it off-handedly. But Alys knew better too, given her perspectives and outlooks on cards and the like (that he still couldn’t help but turn his nose up at), so he nodded at her speech and tones, and the promise that came thereafter.

[say]“I think it was more of an adjustment for Evie and I,”[/say] he admitted, on the notions of Erebos suddenly going from toddler to imploring and outgoing youth. His eyes went from disappearing treeflits and down to Idalia, granting her a soft smile as she gazed and looked around, little eyes trying to absorb anything else that sparked bright hues and flashing movements. [say]“But it will probably always be that way as they grow up.”[/say] Having to learn how to give away a little more – and striving to ensure his protection at every turn nonetheless.

Taking a breath and unfurling away some of those parental woes, his head tilted, though only slightly so Idalia’s little fists weren’t grabbing at his beard. Wrinkling his nose at the thought of Stormbreak’s fall, and everything else that had come with it, he snorted a little at the prejudicial means remaining after all this time. [say]“I recall getting many looks in Stormbreak, but one learns to rise above it,”[/say] he shrugged with a light grin, as if to suffice to say that they were better than those maintaining their racial discriminations. [say]“Heard you are making some kind of lazy river.”[/say]

RE: according to visions - Alys - 07-02-2026

Alys couldn't imagine what it must have been like for Deimos and Evie, to suddenly find their toddler had become older than his years. Of course, watching children grow was sure to be full of surprises in various ways; this was merely one such thing, she supposed, given the propensity of the gods to aid youths in their ventures to become older more quickly. This was not the first such time she'd heard of it happening, after all. Smiling towards Idalia, Alys nodded. [say]"I'm sure."[/say]

Eyes twinkling with mirth as the babe grabbed towards Deimos's beard, Alys pressed her lips together to keep from laughing at the child's antics. [say]"We are,"[/say] she said. [say]"It'll have healing properties, when we're done."[/say] And, in summertime, it would be a pleasant place to spend a lazy afternoon. [say]"I think the area just needs to be purified, and some unicorns rounded up?"[/say] she continued. Sadly, she hadn't kept up with the exact requirements thus far, and was a little behind the times. That would soon change, though, as she emerged from her self-imposed exile to assist.

RE: according to visions - Deimos - 07-03-2026

Lightly snagging at Idalia’s small fists to ward off a sudden pulling and tugging of his beard, his brow arched at the significance of the lazy river. It seemed several regions had adopted and adapted similar schemes when it came to mending measures, with fixations of water or liquid, from Torchline’s fountain to Halo’s own springs, to now an ambling, leisurely surface, imagining a stroll on floating devices and merely lulling down the current. Keeping the last notions to himself, on an inward snort, he wrinkled his nose instead, mostly amused. [say]“Sounds similar to what we had to do – only we rounded up luxere.”[/say] The assuaging needs and blends of creatures across landscapes.

Whether or not unicorns would be easier would remain to be seen – as was seemingly always the way. [say]“We have a couple of options are tossing around for our next regional quest,”[/say] all of which could be useful and purposeful. [say]“It is good to hear King’s End continues to advance. Have you been to Hak Etme lately?”[/say] Given how Colt had seemed quite driven to get that place off the ground as well.
