a not-so-shocking reveal - Thalassa - 06-09-2026

She steps out of the tunnels onto the flat rock outside. The volcanic lightning is still raging in the sky, illuminating the space between the clouds in a purplish light that battles for dominance against the black, reds, and oranges of the Climb. It's a loud battle that snaps and cracks over the low bubbling of molten lava, electric energy permeating the air.

Thal pauses to watch it, her damp hair already beginning to dry in the heat. She raises her eyes when another bolt strikes and splinters in every direction, not looking at Colt when she reveals the boring truth of her last apology in a bland tone. [say]"When I was still infected and very much mourning the loss of that asshole, I was unbearable to be around and I said some things that hurt Danta's feelings."[/say] The rancher will remember her extra cold and bitchy attitude at that same festival.

RE: a not-so-shocking reveal - Colt - 06-09-2026

The wave of fresh air that hits her the moment she steps out into the full space of the Climb feels like breaking beneath a wave. The change is tangible as they depart the curling heat of Frey's Breath, and though the trek from its depths back to the surface meant the air changed as they went, it's the full brunt of this outside openness and the storm wind that really feels like being able to breathe again. It's worth noting that this is still The Climb, coiling with lava, even in Deepfrost. It's by no means the same effect as opening the freezer door on a hot day, but it is a welcome change of heat after spending too long simmering in the chest of her god.

Overhead, the night carries on, split apart by the lightning they originally fled from. Colt glances up at it, squinting as she tries to gauge if the worst of it has passed their direct vicinity now or not. They could always shelter just within the outcrop of rock if need be. [say]"Y'don't say?"[/say] Colt ventures a glance towards Thal as she stretches out the little tale of her own apology. [say]"Here I thought that was you on a good day."[/say]

She does well remember her first encounter with Peach. Hell, it'd gone so well, Colt prepped herself for a brawl. [say]"So where's my apology then?"[/say] Colt teases with a slanted grin, hands fitting to her hips in mock expectation. The ruse dies quickly, not trying to prod an actual sour mood from the ancient. She knows too well how it feels to admit to the vulnerable parts of yourself. [say]"Can't say I know him too well,"[/say] Colt murmurs, recognizing the Theocrat's name but little more. [say]"You two patched it up fine?"[/say] A success story, proof it could be done, but she reckons Danta is no Flora.

Thal laughs, fangs flashing in another bolt of lightning. [say]"During that time? It was."[/say] Considering her first day without Pierce had been spent wandering broken through the forest in her tiger shift, attending a festival was practically cheerful for her.

Content to let the hot breeze dry her skin while she watches the light show, she stuffs her hands in her pockets. Her eyes are glued to the violent display of energy cutting through the air, only slipping away for a moment to see Colt's prideful stance. She scoffs, shaking her head to dismiss the playful tease. [say]"I doubt anything I said that night hurt your feelings."[/say] And if Colt insists that it did, well, Thal might consider making it up to her.

The plume of blackened smoke and ash disguises the lightning for a moment before it arcs from one end to the other, thunder rumbling loud enough to keep her silent for a moment, tilting her head to hear what Colt says next. [say]"Oh yeah. We're good now. Once Asta cured me, I owned up to what was going on and made sure he knew where I stood with his fiance. I wouldn't say we're buddy buddy, but I'd call him a friend."[/say] She flashes the rancher a smug grin, letting the truth sit between them as she turns to analyze the storm traveling across the horizon, appearing to dissipate along with the thinning cloud of debris.
