bring the light back from the dark - Nova - 07-03-2026

Nova shifted the jean jacket she wore, the bleached star motifs standing out against the blue and the snow still clinging to the cold of Halo. She shuffled her feet and knocked against the wooden door, thinking about how best to approach the topic that had started pestering her since last season. Lips in a thin line of concentration, she painted quite the serious image when Marcus eventually opened the door.

The right words still hadn't come to her when she caught sight of the man, but she brightened to see him, her fingers raising to mess with the pink stands of hair framing her eyes. [say]"Marcus."[/say] His name was like a breath of fresh air in her lungs, already feeling a bit of tension fading into the chilly breeze, making room for the smile that formed.

Wishing she were just there to hang out and catch up, she was reluctant to broach the real reason for her visit, blinking sheepishly up at him. [say]"I want to..."[/say] she paused, fixing the smile a little more firmly to her face before finishing with a facade of confidence, [say]"practice my magic."[/say] She'd never said the words before, and she had to smother the stubborn pride that threatened to have her retracting the statement. Even so, she couldn't hide the angle of her head or the rebellious glint in her eyes, the defensiveness already on the tip of her tongue when she asked hesitantly, [say]"Will you help me?"[/say]
