two for one - Flora - 07-17-2026

The Sugartide rests where Flora has brought her down along the pale edge of the island, close enough that the tide occasionally reaches beneath her hull without threatening to tug her back out to sea. Flora leaves her there while she works her way along the beach, scattering the last handful of seashells among those she’s already arranged across the sand. Each has been carefully cut into the shape of a star, their polished surfaces catching the light until the shoreline glistens as though some small constellation has fallen here and decided the macabre little island could use the improvement.

By the time she’s finished, the bottle of wine is waiting beside two starry goblets, placed where the crimson growth nearby won’t be tempted to sample either them or her. Flora brushes the sand from her palms, glances over the shimmering path she’s made, and decides that it’s beautiful enough to outweigh the rather obvious question of why anyone would choose this particular beach for drinks with a goddess.

[say]"I know this is a weird spot,"[/say] she calls, lifting her face toward the open sky with an expectant smile already pulling at her lips, [say]"but hear me out."[/say]

RE: two for one - Safrin - 07-17-2026

Starlight gathers over the shells first, slipping across their cut edges until the scattered shapes shine more brightly than the sun should allow. From that glimmer Safrin steps onto the beach, draped in midnight and constellations, her gaze travelling from the Sugartide to the crimson growth winding through the bones beneath the sand.

Her nose wrinkles faintly. This is no shrine, and the island is both wild and hungry enough that even Flora’s glittering efforts can’t quite disguise it. Still, Safrin turns her attention to her newest demigod and arches one elegant brow, willing to assume there’s purpose behind the unusual invitation.

[say]"Go on, then,"[/say] she murmurs, her expression poised somewhere between indulgence and curiosity. [say]"I’m listening."[/say]

RE: two for one - Flora - 07-17-2026

Flora beams up at her, though the smile has to carry rather more weight than it once might have. Calling Safrin somewhere strange with an ambitious proposal had never exactly been effortless, but doing it now, with the goddess’s power threaded through her and the title of demigod settling more firmly around her shoulders, makes every word feel as though it ought to justify the faith Safrin has placed in her.

[say]"Okay, so—"[/say] Flora begins, then stops herself with a small shake of her head. [say]"Actually, wait."[/say] Her grin brightens as the better idea occurs to her. What better use could there be for the power Safrin gave her than letting the goddess see the conversation for herself? Flora lifts one hand, and with a graceful sweep of her fingers, the air above the star-strewn sand shimmers into colour and movement. Her meeting with Danta unfolds between them, replaying the discussion aboard the Sugartide: the portal they want to establish between the Grounds and Torchline, the access it would offer both regions, and the shrine he’d asked to place in Torchline in return.

Once the memory fades, Flora reaches for one of the waiting goblets and holds it out to Safrin, her expression open and expectant. [say]"This hugely benefits Torchline, and of course it makes sense that people in the north would want easier access to a region you’ve made so blessed."[/say] The flattery slips into place without the slightest trace of shame; it’s true, after all, and there’s no reason truth shouldn’t be made to sparkle when the occasion calls for it.

[say]"Besides,"[/say] she adds, her grin turning a touch more persuasive, [say]"I thought that since Dygra’s the only other female goddess, and she doesn’t compete with you for followers, putting a shrine to her all the way out here might be okay?"[/say]

RE: two for one - Safrin - 07-17-2026

Safrin’s attention settles on the illusion as it unfolds, a knowing smirk touching her lips at the currents running beneath the conversation between the two rulers. It remains there until the matter of the shrine is revealed, at which point she straightens, her expression sharpening not merely at the request itself, but at Flora’s decision to bring it before her and ask for her hand in allowing it.

[say]"Dygra is more powerful than even Vi,"[/say] Safrin says, her eyes narrowing upon her newest demigod. [say]"If she wished to take every one of my followers and declare them Ancient, she could."[/say] The words fall with polished calm, though the implication beneath them is plain enough: shared femininity and an apparent lack of competition are not nearly the protections Flora has made them sound like.

Safrin accepts the offered goblet and takes a slow sip, letting the wine linger while she considers the arrangement anew. When she lowers it, some of the severity has eased from her gaze, replaced by something more thoughtful and far more calculating. [say]"Knowing all of that, perhaps it would benefit us both to remain on her good side, mm?"[/say] One corner of her mouth lifts as she turns the goblet lightly between her fingers. [say]"Here is what you must do."[/say]

Torchline has received a RQ!

Tasks. There is no time limit. There are currently 17 active Torchers. This means 9 unique characters have to participate. Characters can participate more than once. Flora must participate in at least 2 threads, and Ronin must participate in at least 1.

1. 3 threads of Torchers cleaning/adding offerings to Safrin shrines around TL or elsewhere
2. A thread of Flora and an ancient calling down Dygra for her blessing
3. A PQ of Torchers and ancients hunting to gather bones/blood for the shrine
4. A PQ creating the shrine (3 must be completed first)
5. A thread of at least one Torcher and one Ancient killing something on the shrine and having the ancient pray to Dygra on it. (2/3/4 must be completed first)

RE: two for one - Flora - 07-17-2026

Flora all but holds her breath while Safrin considers, her fingers resting a little too carefully around the stem of her goblet. She’d compared the goddess to a cat when speaking to Melita, but never because she’d forgotten the claws. Safrin could be warm, indulgent, even playful when she chose, and still remain something far too powerful to provoke carelessly.

The moment the answer turns in her favour, relief leaves Flora in a soft rush. She takes a long drink of wine, no longer bothering to disguise how tightly she’d been wound, and lowers the goblet with a bright grin.

[say]"One more quick thing?"[/say] Her expression shifts with the question, curiosity threading through the lingering excitement. [say]"Melita mentioned Ludo going missing, and then something about the Dreamwalker’s antlers. I... actually have them in my dining room."[/say] Flora tilts her head, watching Safrin closely over the rim of her glass. [say]"Is that the sort of thing we could do something with? She mentioned using them to walk through nightmares?"[/say]

RE: two for one - Safrin - 07-17-2026

Safrin rolls her eyes, the mention of Ludo drawing a flash of irritation across her otherwise composed features. She exhales through her nose and takes another measured sip of wine before turning her attention fully back to Flora.

[say]"Yes, I’m sure we can do something with them,"[/say] she says, though the concession carries the weight of yet another inconvenience she’s being asked to entertain. [say]"But first, finish your quest with Kaisel. Once that is done, we can discuss the antlers and what use they may serve."[/say]

RE: two for one - Flora - 07-17-2026

Flora hisses in a breath at the reminder of the quest she and Kaisel have yet to finish, the words landing perilously close to all the other things she’s just asked for. The last thing she wants is to seem greedy, particularly when Safrin has already agreed to entertain both a foreign shrine and the possibility of doing something with the Dreamwalker’s antlers. With a crooked smile, Flora nods at once, then again with enough emphasis to make it abundantly clear she understands.

[say]"Yeah, right, totally,"[/say] she agrees, taking another drink as though the wine might smooth over the brief flare of embarrassment. [say]"We’ll get right on this."[/say]

Her smile brightens as she lifts her goblet toward Safrin. [say]"And I’ll make sure everyone knows along the way that you’re the one making all of this possible."[/say] The promise comes easily, carrying none of the calculated sweetness of her earlier flattery; Safrin’s approval genuinely is what allows any of it to move forward, and Flora has no intention of letting Torchline forget it. She tips her glass in a small, glittering toast to her goddess.
