Still grinning broadly, Ronin collapsed back into the grasses and let himself catch his breath at last. As he felt Amalia begin to rise off him, he got his elbows under him, but the weight of the leopardess's paw against his chest prevents him from going any further. Still breathing a little heavily, he met her feline gaze, heard the growl thrumming deep in her chest, and had the good decency to nod in understanding.
Because she didn't need to say it, did she?
Finally released, Ronin grasped her hand and pulled himself to his feet, his good humour returning as he nudged a gentle shoulder against hers. Together they would walk home, tired but happy, talking of the world and what it might become, what they might do to make it better.
