lead balloons - Remi - 08-26-2019

The body was light. That made it so much easier, for as the manticore flew, there was little physical drag to pull his mind back to what it was he was doing, and why he was doing it. Remi's shift was unparalleled at this point too, which also made it easier. No creature he knew of could fly as fast, as far, or for as long as he could. Rising with almost incomprehensible acceleration, the manticore flew through the cloudy expanses with nary a thought in his mind.

Soon of course the alchemist-turned-accomplice would be plagued by what he'd done. He'd worry over what it meant for him, for Ronin. How much was blight, how much madness. Ronin had an excuse at least, but Remi? Remi who had never given into violence so easily before, had nothing with which to justify his behaviour. He'd thought only of Aoife and left all semblance of sense at the door of Skyler's home.

Pushing himself hard enough to make his lungs and muscles burn with an anxious pain that entirely consumed his thoughts, Remi flew until the storms that had once devoured his sister came into view. It was into those violent lightning clouds that he'd throw the body. Into the dead-lands that Skyler would find his final resting place, at least until the wild animals scattered him into the winds as excrement.

It would take nearly a day in total, but Remi would see it done. If anyone saw or asked, the alchemist might say he was merely seeing how high the storms went; Remi had been talking about trying to fly over them, after all. It was as convenient as it was horrifying that the alchemist's curiosity provided such an easy alibi.
