Reversal of Fate - Nephele - 12-17-2019
The festivities are delightful, something Nephele had only partially expected of the humans. It makes sense that they would need such uplifting activities to keep their spirits high, she thinks, if they are surrounded by such depression and sickness on all sides. Were it not for her curiosity, her scientific desire to dissect and inspect, Nephele would not leave the Greatwood. The Grounders had done nothing but destroy since the barrier had fallen, had crushed what miniscule hope Nephele had that they could coexist somewhat peacefully. A laughable notion from the start perhaps, considering the bloody history of her own people.
But here in the Oasis there is peace, a natural silence that pervades the area. The winged girl hangs upside down from a flowering branch, stretching her spine and the muscles that sustain her flight, wings spread to the sides as she swings listlessly. A beautiful, wonderful day. It's easier to settle her spirits, her rage, when she is able to rest here in the greenery they have yet to destroy.
