hold your breath - Cassandra - 12-23-2019

Cassie had been longing for this since coming to Caido: the sun on her back and the mud underfoot and the little fish darting back and forth. Swimming was the greatest thing ever. Period. Cass just had no idea how to do it anymore, so she approached the bank cautiously, sticking one toe into the rippling water.

[say]"I can do this."[/say]

She began to wade into the water, one teeny tiny step at a time. [say]"Screw it. This is taking too long."[/say] She launched herself forward and into the depths, her dress flowing out around her (because she had yet to learn the purpose of a swimsuit) as her eyes opened under the sparkling surface. She kicked messily, but she managed to push her head above water again. [say]"ColdColdColdColdCold!"[/say] she chattered, gritting her teeth as her skin acclimated to the temperature. Her limbs flailed wildly for a moment more before they settled into a familiar rhythm. [say]"Oh. This is actually the same!"[/say] She puppy-swam out a little further, keeping her head above water at all times.

RE: hold your breath - Lily - 12-27-2019

Hell yes, another redhead. It takes her a moment to realize that the figure swimming in the Oasis is quite a bit younger than she is - a teenager, really, and um, an awkward one at that. Lily had actually come for a swim in the water as well as the days were on the verge of summer and it was starting to get rather warm. That, and she was yearning for a bit of exercise. Her old life had taught her how to swim (only out of necessity were girls taught anything, and she guessed that living life near the docks and around the ocean meant drowning was occasionally a hazard), and though she doesn’t know what a modern day bathing suit is, even she, colonial American era Lily, knows you don’t swim with a dress on.

Or splash that much.

Wrinkling her nose up a bit at the noise and the ungainly way the girl paddles, Lily drops her stuff on the banks and yells out to the girl.[say] “Hey! You all right?”[/say]

Cass paddled out a little further before hearing the call:
"Hey! You all right?"
Like, yeah, like, of course she was alright. She was just swimming, gosh. Some people. But the lady did seem kinda concerned or whatever, and she didn't want her calling Hotaru and saying her kid was like drowning or something. As far as Cass was concerned, Hotaru was wayyyyy too prone to heart attacks.

Cass turned around and began to paddle back towards the bank, dress flowing out behind her. [say]"Yeah! Why'd ya ask?"[/say]

She swam in a little closer. Splish sploosh splish sploosh. [say]" I'm Cass! The water's great, by the way!"[/say]
