What wild world have we washed into? - Kaimana - 04-03-2020

Well. This is different.

Your first time home in, like, forever, and Apopo has erupted. A mountain with a name you wouldn't have had any context for a few hours ago, but now that you've walked through the portal your memories have come washing back. You lived here! You grew up here! Your Dama put you and Oia into trees here to incubate and you emerged and became kinda-sorta adults and now you're back after investigating the Hollowed Ground and it all makes sense and how can you have ever forgotten?

But now it's all a bit on fire, which is more than a little surprising.

Remarkably, Haulani is in rather good shape. There's a lot of rebuilding going on, which somewhat reminds you of after Long Night in the Hollowed Ground. It's a little bit of a disaster but still a fascinating opportunity to investigate how people adapt to nature, well, doing nature things.

Walking through the rubble, you stop to sketch a place where a little of the lava flow is crossing over a road, squatting down to investigate and probably getting entirely too close. Most of the magma was stopped before coming close to town, but here on the outskirts there's still a couple streams. It's beautiful and fascinating, and you have to wonder what will grow as a result.

RE: What wild world have we washed into? - Saiden - 04-05-2020

Saiden had been assisting with clearing the air of residual ash. Of course, people now recognized him to a far greater degree than they did before. It was honestly uncomfortable for someone used to working in more illicit activities. Which was why he was working on the outskirts of the city, closer to where the lava had actually flowed. He had a bunch of water swirling around him that he'd brought from the ocean, just in case.

Of course, even here there were people. More specifically, one person: there was young man crouched much too close to some magma for the cook's liking. [say]"You alright there?"[/say] The Hali pulsed outwards with his air magic, trying to filter the toxins away. Then he sent a wind over the surface of the lava, trying to cool it off and send the heat away from them as best he could.
