RE: human nature, nothing I can do - Loren - 10-06-2020

Loren's smile shattered at their words. Swallowing against a sudden lump in his throat, he nodded. [say]"Understood."[/say] He rubbed a palm against his thigh. As he did, Astra brushed against him.

Eyes widening at their answer, he pressed his lips together. [say]"Tanau is the cause of the illness,"[/say] the healer repeated.

Taking a deep breath, he tried to recapture the peace and serenity that he'd claimed so recently. However, there was too much information whirling around his mind. Sighing, he continued breathing deeply, in through his nose and out through his mouth, which at least calmed the storm within him slightly. [say]"Thank you again for your time and for all the information you have provided me."[/say] He bowed shallowly towards the twins.

[say]"As you were, then."[/say] They say, before turning in unison and continuing their walk along the frozen lake. As they go, they seem to go out of their way to step on the thin balls of ice which purportedly hold the souls of those lost out on the ice.

Loren watched the twins as they continued on their stroll. The smile found its way back to his lips as he did, especially when he noticed how many of the orbs they stepped on. Stroking Astra with one hand, he waited until they were out of sight.

Then he took another deep breath. He glanced at the world one last time, trying to draw its seeming serenity to him like a cloak. Although he was less successful than before, he didn't mind, because he'd gotten answers that he hadn't expected and probably didn't deserve.

Turning, he faced the direction of the Citadel and started marching towards it. A new day had dawned and he had work to do.
