All the Sinners & Saints move in the same direction - Nerissa - 11-09-2020

Despite the carefully tight grip she keeps upon her business, the endless plans upon plans, the risk assessments and careful thought, there is the rare time that Nerissa is impulsive. The rarer time when that impulsive thought becomes reality.

The decision to try and expand her empire, to drag riches back to her waters, her domain, is an impulsive one. Before she can stop herself, there is a post on the noticeboard of both the underwater city and Haulani, the latter made with the help of a charming young man who’s name she’d meant to remember, if only to praise him when she next spoke to Jack.

Olavi is obviously at her side, while she waits in the place mentioned in her notice. There was no way of knowing who else would arrive, if anyone. All she could do was be patient, a skill thankfully honed in her years. She occupied herself for the first little bit with organizing her bag, making sure the things she might really need were in easy reach, and that nothing would fall out. Scylla swims in slow loops around her, excited to be exploring foreign waters.

please be gentle I’ve never done this

For the mermaid PQ+

1. Olavi
2. Sunjata
3. Delta

Nerissa has with her a spare cloud manta crystal, a normal mer dagger, some first aid supplies, and her companion.

RE: All the Sinners & Saints move in the same direction - Olavi - 11-09-2020

Of course, Nerissa had come up with a new brilliant idea. It was innate in her, genius and schemes pouring from her mind and Olavi loved to see it, to know he could protect and serve her until the end of his days; seeing what Nerissa would think of next was one of the greatest joys in his life. When they actually found what lurked in the waters that were to explore, he was sure she would compound on her ideas and come further still.

Behind her, arms crossed and face strict, he waited for those they had enlisted to help to come. The 'Governor' of Torchline ( though Olavi hardly recognised his power) and the spoiled princess; quite the crew, but he supposed Nerissa had to know what she was doing. Regardless of how their guests fared, he'd do whatever she needed, as always.

RE: All the Sinners & Saints move in the same direction - Sunjata - 11-09-2020

Keeping up a good relation with the merfolk is really what has him here. He could care less about riches or success, especially after that recent run in with ghost whales that he’d really rather not continue. It was hard to say what would happen, but he carries his cloud manta crystal with him, on a choker placed around his neck just in case he needed to become more human to help with something else.

As it were now, though, Sunjata’s an orca, sleek black and shark bitten as he takes a deep breath of air to hold onto, to dive toward the meeting point. He’s never seen them before, but it has to be the group he’s looking for. A gathering of Mers waiting in the ocean, waiting for something. They knew who he was, he assumes, and so all he offers is a dip of his large head, his steel gaze flicking over them. [say]Ready when you are.[/say] He rumbles through the attuned bond, recalling that Delta could understand him in this form.

Sunjata arrives in orca form with a cloud manta crystal in case he needs to shift to his merman shift ;D

RE: All the Sinners & Saints move in the same direction - Delta - 11-09-2020

The post on the Notice Board caught her attention as did the name. Interesting... seeing as the last time Delta spoke with her, their conversation went pitifully, maybe this would be a good opportunity to prove herself. While she was far from an expert fighter this could always be a good option.

Appearing, Delta remained rather quiet and gave a look over everyone in attendance. Everyone people, she knew- assuming the orca was Sunjata. [say]"Hello- I'm here to help in any way possible."[/say] Delta did bring quite a lot on her in her bag that was strung over her shoulder. The contents would hopefully prove useful.

Delta has brought along....
A manta Crystal, a pocket knife, a mer dagger, a compass, and of course her favorite: gems and small pieces of jewelry! You never know when you need to bribe someone!

Whale this looks like it's going to be a splendid time, now doesn't it? Just the four of you in the big old ocean. Trying to go where no one has gone before.

This will go well. I can tell.

Your options are this: hug the shoreline, venture out mid-depth where ghost whales and such are known to be, or take the longest route possible by heading waaaaay the fuck out into the ocean and probably getting lost.

Decide among yourselves which option you'll take (or split the party, I don't care!).

Your randomly chosen order is: Delta, Nerissa, Sunjata, Olavi. Please post within 48 hours of the person before you. And to ensure that nothing is missed, please include a summary of your actions at the bottom of your post, including the description of any magic/items/feats that are being utilized!

RE: All the Sinners & Saints move in the same direction - Delta - 11-10-2020

Delta was the first to speak, even when she wasn't entirely sure how welcomed she was. Taking a deep breath, she focused on what the task at hand was. [say]"We... have a lot of ways we could go, yeah? I think... maybe we could stay closer to the shore? Give Sunjata enough room to swim, yeah, but that may be our best choice."[/say] It was an idea and Delta clearly turned towards Nerissa, watching for her reaction.

[say]"It's an idea and I don't think it would be wise for us to go too far out, since deeper waters means harder creatures to deal with."[/say] She chose to make a point of mentioning this, hoping that it would show her reasoning behind the decision. As well, she wanted to make it clear that she was merely suggesting an idea. In NO WAY did she want to take full command or make Nerissa feel as though she was taking control. While she was a Princess, she also understood that she wasn't nearly as experienced as the rest.

Delta suggests staying close to the shore.

RE: All the Sinners & Saints move in the same direction - Nerissa - 11-11-2020

[say]I don’t believe we’ve had the pleasure, Governor.[/say] Theres something lilting and amused in Nerissa’s voice. Maybe something driven by the fact that she hadn’t met the last, or the one before him. Whoever the mammals choose to rule themselves matter not, so long as Jack (or someone in his position) is around, and her business continues. [say]I am Nerissa, and this,[/say] She gestures to the long slab of angry shark, hovering ever present behind her, [say]is my Olavi.[/say] Delta is genuinely surprising, though the indication Nerissa gives of this is a slight tilt of her head, a moments pause before she greets the girl with a simple [say]Princess.[/say]

It seems like she’s not going to get anymore volunteers, but there are at least two more bodies than she expected, so Nerissa decides she will have to settle for that. A wan smile is thrown towards Delta, her suggestions but the smuggler kingpin finds herself nodding, agreeing. [say]Along the coast will be best.[/say] She agrees silently, propelling herself along to lead the way. [say]Better to have a guide to follow.[/say]

Nerissa begins to swim along the coast.

RE: All the Sinners & Saints move in the same direction - Sunjata - 11-11-2020

There’s a small dip of his head in greeting to Delta when she arrives – recognizing the Mer, despite it having been a few months since they’d last spoken. But his attention turns to Nerissa, quite obvious that she’s the one in charge here that had gathered them. [say]Sunjata.[/say] He rumbles at first, giving the air of acknowledgement that it wasn’t him that ran the ocean, despite how much people had associated him with it. [say]It’s a pleasure.[/say] To meet both of them, Nerissa and Olavi at least.

[say]I can fit whichever way we go.[/say] He tells the group, though there’s a slight pulse of amusement sent toward Delta. [say]I preferred this shape as to not offend, of course.[/say] This one is aimed more toward Nerissa, almost sending the sensation of a wink through to her. But then they’re off, and the whale breaches the surface to breathe a deep breath of air before diving below the surface again, trailing near the back to keep an eye on them all.

Sunjata follows the group at the back to keep watch!

RE: All the Sinners & Saints move in the same direction - Olavi - 11-12-2020

The decision presented to them was not one Olavi considered, because he knew he'd simply follow Nerissa. The simplicity of his work as her bodyguard and companion was sometimes limiting, but often comforting; he always knew where he had to be, which was right behind his love, making sure she was safe and able to partake in her deliciously malicious plans.

Shifting into his shark form for speed and strength he swam behind Nerissa, keeping to the coast. [say]Hi.[/say] He begrudgingly said to Sunjata, though he hated to communicate in such a way with anyone other than his partner. Silently then, he continued on.

RE: All the Sinners & Saints move in the same direction - Random Event - 11-12-2020

So we have chosen hug the shoreline. I'm shore this will go swimmingly.

So there you all are, this motley assortment of sea critters. You make quick work of leaving Torchline behind you, familiar 3/4 of you are with this part of the ocean. Eventually, the cliffs of Stormbreak come into view, and you can hear the ominous warble of the singing stones as the wind howls through their strange shapes.

In order for Sunjata and Olavi to remain shifted as they are, the group will have to stay about 100m from the shoreline. However should they shift, you'll be able to slink right around the cliffs if you choose. Overhead cloud wyrms frolick on the warm winds, and so far your swim is uneventful.

Singing stones (common): Carved into the shapes that they are by the constant rubbing of starwhales and ghost whales, the singing stones emit an eerie and haunting melody when the wind rushes through them. It is a sound that the locals have come to love, but one which often strikes fear into the hearts of those who have not heard it before.

Your randomly chosen order is: Delta, Nerissa, Sunjata, Olavi. Please post within 48 hours of the person before you. And to ensure that nothing is missed, please include a summary of your actions at the bottom of your post, including the description of any magic/items/feats that are being utilized!

RE: All the Sinners & Saints move in the same direction - Delta - 11-12-2020

The sounds that echo and sing through the waters are loud and clear. It brings a small smile to Delta's face and she finds herself quiet for a moment, enjoying the silence. Then an idea came to her mind, a not very great one.

Looking ahead at Nerissa, Delta found herself frowning before turning her attention to the cliffs ahead of them. [say]I... I think Sunjata should shift- I've seen him shift so he was like us... there have been Ghost Whales here so it probably isn't wise to go too far away from the shore.[/say] While Nerissa can't exactly look at her, Delta still turns her attention towards the leader of the expedition, waiting to see if her idea would be accepted.

Delta realizes Ghost Whales have been here and therefore suggests that Sunjata (and Olavi) shift into smaller forms because she worries about the dangers of going too far from shore.

RE: All the Sinners & Saints move in the same direction - Nerissa - 11-13-2020

There is no offense taken at all, in fact the worry has a single bark of laughter leaving Nerissa, her hand rising to cover her mouth as she composed herself. [say]Worry not about us, Governor. You’re our guest, after all.[/say] There is an automatic bite of warning in the words, not that she thought either of the mer present were the type to do anything unbecoming.

With introductions made and greeting exchanged, they’re off, familiar ocean slipping away around them, replaced by cooler waters, by tall cliffs and a discordant melody. It sent a shiver up Nerissa’s spine, in the worst way, and she found herself wanting to leave, to move on from this place as quickly as possible.

The princess voices a good idea, and Nerissa is not one to discount those, no matter what she may think of the source. [say]You're right. We should stay as close to the shore as we can manage. No one wants to be caught out by one of those beasts.[/say] Nerissa pauses long enough for Olavi to catch up, reaching up to grasp his face gently. [say]Lavi dearest, if you don’t mind?[/say] With her gaze still focused on her love, Nerissa reaches out mentally in the direction of the orca. [say]I have a manta crystal should you require it, Governor.[/say]

Nerissa agrees with deltas idea and tries to get them moving again as quickly as possible

RE: All the Sinners & Saints move in the same direction - Sunjata - 11-13-2020

He supposes it’s fair, the fact that he’s their guest here. But he doesn’t comment on it as they begin to move – the coast kept close. [say]Hello.[/say] He replies to Olavi instead, steel eyes focusing on the shark before peering ahead where they’re headed. An eerie sound begins to vibrate through his ears and he can feel his heart begin to race, discomfort clear from their singing tones.

Delta’s words reach him, confirmed by Nerissa, and he offers one pulse of a nod before shrinking down into mostly himself, his bottom half still partially shifted into his orca tail – an attuned mimic of the merfolk he’s with, hands reaching up to ensure that the cloud manta crystal attached to the choker is still settled on his throat.

[say]I should be fine.[/say] He attempts to assure those he’s with, swimming up and trying to get used to the cloud manta crystal and how it affects his breathing while they remain under the water. He’s not particularly interested in being around ghost whales again so soon.

Sunjata changes so that he’s partially shifted like a merman, wearing a cloud manta crystal around his neck and continues forth after Nerissa and Delta!

RE: All the Sinners & Saints move in the same direction - Olavi - 11-14-2020

Olavi followed, always the silent protector, the shadow behind Nerissa; his role did not require him to speak, did not require him to act unless there was a threat. They came up towards the cliffs, the solemn song chilling his bones but he did not outwardly react, the shark merely glancing up at the surface before he continued.

Finally, they wanted to move closer to the shore; as Nerissa took his face in her hands he nodded dutifully and shifted back to his mer form, stretching out his arms before going with the rest to swim along the coast line, as close to the beach as possible, the shallows of the water easier to see in for their non-mer friend anyway. [say]This place is too bright and cold.[/say] He said to Nerissa only, then was quiet again.
