(open) one last look around - Elide - 02-13-2021
Elide's pace is slow and steady as she walks towards the palace. Her lengthy coat billows out around her heels, which adorn heavy boots. As she rounds a corner, the palace comes into view. It reaches toward the dark sky, its glassy walls flickering from the light of nearby flames. Elide's dark, nearly black eyes take it all in. A few people mill about here and there, conducting last-minute business at the end of another long, Deepfrost day.
Forcing her body to pull in a deep breath, Elide relishes the crisp feeling of the icy air as it filters in through her nostrils. She won't be here much longer, she fears, and so she's taken it upon herself to have one last look around. It's her home, after all, and she is leaving it to face a battle that may cost her life in order to win. This may be the last chance she'll have to look at everything.
Since she doesn't know how or when she will be whisked away by the Voice - or other means, measures - she carries her crossbow, the axe Deimos gave her, and anything else that's been deemed useful for battle. Even beneath her sweeping coat, there is a layer of armor.
So she remains for a while, leaned against a snowy archway. She watches as life continues happening around her, until it's deep into the night and not a soul seems to stir except for that of the fires.
