Turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime - Random Event - 01-30-2019 A luxere with red glowing antlers? That was sure to draw a crowd. Indeed the first individually to see it ran back towards the settlement and domiciles, yelling for all he was worth of what he saw. [say]"RED—"[/say] (gasp, pant)[say]"—LUXERE. GLOWING. RED—"[/SAY] (cough, splutter), and so on, and so forth. For its part, the luxere thought of only one thing. Shedding. It knew something was wrong. Instinctively it knew, as soon as its antlers had grown in that season. It was far too early for it to even consider shedding, but no longer could it stand the harrowing red glow that followed it around. Indeed, none of its kin would come near the poor thing and so it had spent the months alone. Weak and finally at its tipping point, the creature wandered into the fields away from its kind and towards the apple trees that grew there. Bowing its head, it began to carve and rake its antlers against the tree, tying to dislodge the beam from the pendacle in anyway that it could. This is a RARE ANIMAL SIGHTING which counts for higher levelling requirements! Because this deer won't be here for long, this thread will be open for only 24 hours. Feel free to have your character see this luxere or hear the news of it and come to check it out themselves! This does not count as a seasonal luxere requirement thread though. What will you do? RE: Turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime - Ronin - 01-30-2019 Ronin stood, torn in the snowy fields, his hands buried in his pockets and the collar of his coat turned up. He had heard the individual shouting in the Sanctuary and had already been on his way out, so it didn't take long for him to get to the Fields. The red was a garish glow against the white, dotted here and there with droplets of blood too, now. He winced as he watched the Luxere try to rid itself of its troublesome antlers, sighing but knowing better than to interfere. The last thing he wanted to do was draw the creature's ire when it was so desperate. Nevertheless, he would stay and he would watch for a while, making sure that no other predators came to claim it after scenting the blood. RE: Turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime - Rexanna - 01-30-2019 She heard the yelling as she wandered through the fields. She didn’t have a plan in mind of what she wanted to accomplish this day, but she knew that she had headed toward the Fields before hearing a native of the land screeching about something as she was leaving the settlement. Immediately, a flash of concern graced her features and she tightened her bundle of furs to trudge through the snow toward where others had gone – curiosity and perhaps a bit of worry etched in the lines of her face. As she approached, she spotted Ronin and Kalt – and was that a unicorn? That deep part of her that held memories not of her own ached at the horn that protruded from the equine, and she found she had to look away from them as her attention moved to the Luxere with a red glow and bleeding antlers. Coming to a halt beside Ronin, she looked over and offered him a quiet smile of greeting before looking back to the Luxere. “[say]What’s happened to it?[/say]” She questioned, aiming for concern though her voice were laced with that same honey dipped tone as it always was. RE: Turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime - Remi - 01-30-2019 Having heard the cries of a red luxere had certainly caught Remi's attention. Flying in the frigid air towards where the man had declared the beast to be, Remi caught sight of blood in the snow, as well as a small group below. Circling lazily, Remi eventually glided lower, landing and shifting next to Ronin. Glancing with a smile towards [say]"There are no other predators around, nor any luxere."[/say] He said, a touch breathless as he pulled his jacket around him a bit tighter. [say]"How...they are not normally red like that, are they? I do not believe I read anything about it when I was researching."[/say] Stiffly, he could feel his more predatory nature urging him to shift and put the creature out of its misery. Doing no such thing, Remi instead gripped his arms against his biceps and bit the inside of his cheek to keep his focus. RE: Turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime - Amalia - 01-30-2019 She, too, heard the cry, and left her shop to see what had caused such a great uproar. Red Luxere was, indeed, a strange event: in her years the girl had not seen or heard of such a mutation, and her curiosity was such that she could not stand idly by. Had her grandmother been there, the old woman would have dragged Amalia out with neither coat nor boot. As it was the baker took her time, calming the fire and dressing appropriately before trudging out into the snow. The poor beast had garnered an audience, and Amalia was far from the first to arrive. Approaching the place where Ronin and Remi stood, the golden haired girl shook her head sadly. [say]"They're not,"[/say] she confirmed to Remi's question, deep voice heavy with mourning for the creature. How lonely, how harsh, to be the only one of your ilk, an aberration, alone-! and the girl's heart ached for the creature, for loneliness was a feeling she knew too well. [say]"We should sing, to calm him. They enjoy song."[/say] With quiet movements the girl drew closer, a shaky tune that steadily strengthened coming from her throat. [say]"The winter moon is shining bright, the Long Night log is burning, "Good people gather 'round tonight, the world again is turning. "Welcome, sing to the sun, now rising in the dark sky! "Welcome, sing everyone, your praises to our lord, Vi!"[/say] Cautiously she inched further forward, hoping to soothe and not frighten the wounded creature. RE: Turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime - Jigano - 01-31-2019 Jigano had not been feeling well lately. He didn't want to explain why he wasn't getting much rest when he slept though, nor worry his friends. It was easier, sometimes, to spend time in fox form and focus on simple things, like hunting mice and tending his egg. Mouse hunting had brought him once more to the fields, where he could listen for the scurry of little feet beneath the snow. Listen, crouch, wait, pounce. It was harder than it looked, but helped to hone his aim and his senses, and when he succeeded he received a tasty snack for his trouble. But he needed complete quiet to have even a chance of success, and the silence of the day was broken - not loudly, but enough to throw off his game - by a murmuring of voices from behind a large drifted dune of snow. Curious, but cautious, the well-camouflaged white fox padded up the low crest and peered over. A most unusual luxere appeared to be attacking a tree while some looked on and another - was that Kalt? And a unicorn? - pestered the poor creature. Jigano flattened his ears, uncertain of what to do. He didn't like seeing the creature's distress, but he wasn't sure he could help as either fox or man. Maybe Caiside could, but... he had no idea if he could find the other man before the deer moved on. He whine softly, low in his throat, and perked his ears up again to listen to the conversations the cold breeze carried from the gathering of humans - Rexanna, Amalia, Remi, and someone he didn't know - as they watched or sang or murmured to each other at the sad sight. RE: Turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime - Zariah - 01-31-2019 Zariah had heard the shouting, and was definitely intrigued. She had heard of these glowing Luxere, the reindeer with light emitting horns. A pity that they apparently stopped doing so upon being cut off. That would have made a nice macobe night light for Beatrix. Oh well. Back to what was currently at hand. One of these glowing deer was glowing the wrong glow. Apparently it was enough to cause quite the hullabaloo so she decided to follow those who went to investigate. It wasn't every day you could see a Luxere with the wrong glow after all. Besides, if things went poorly, certainly it would be better for someone with magic to be there to save the day. Even without the Hawthorne's breathing down her neck she had a hard time not feeling compelled to protect the people. Seeing the creature rubbing its horns against a tree, which were quite shocking to see in that bright red, Zariah tilted her head slightly to the side. She stepped up near Ronin, who she knew best of anyone there. After a moment of silence she said quietly, [say]"It appears to me that it is shedding its antlers. Early."[/say] Her voice and expression were emotionless, having fully assumed her usual guard in the presence of others. Now she was a far cry from the woman that had accompanied him on the bridge. No joking. No smirking. Poker face. Still, it didn't keep her from making what knowledge she had known. It was a deer, even if it glowed. They shed their antlers periodically, though usually at the end or beginning of a season, not smack in the middle. Hazel eyes turned to the woman that stepped forward an began to sing. Interesting. Zariah had a nice sounding voice, but she was not about to lend hers with this giant audience until she saw how the animal reacted. RE: Turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime - Roana - 01-31-2019 Roana heard the shouting and was quick to respond. A Luxere? Glowing...red? That wasn't right. Not that she had seen a normal looking one yet but she had certainly heard about the glowing animals from others. Red was not a color they used to describe the eerie light that came from their antlers, which certainly would have added either a more horror or comical affect. At this moment it seemed pretty horrific. Putting a hand on the hilt of her claymore, Roana quickly made her way in the direction of this out of place luxere. It seemed she was not the only one interested in this strange phenomenon, but she was particularly glad to see other well trained fighters there. Just in case. Maybe this was how a Spire Demon was born. Probably not. But it never hurt to be prepared for the absolute worst case scenario in a place that had spire demons to begin with. [say]"Well that is an unsettling sight."[/say] Roana said as she came to a halt next to RE: Turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime - Wessex - 01-31-2019

RE: Turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime - Random Event - 01-31-2019 At first the luxere was far too focused on its task to notice the first few who arrived, ignoring Ronin 's carrot and Turning as Before Amalia could fully displace the antlers though, Quickly the creature darted away, flying across the snow propelled by fear. Oops! Ronin has been shot! Amalia has also received the following item: Rare Luxere Antlers | These antlers glow a soft red despite being detached from the luxere. They will provide constant light and will protect anyone who holds them during LongNight (Obviously Amalia doesn't know the latter part) RE: Turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime - Ronin - 01-31-2019 Heeeeey look at that. He'd been shot. Entranced by Amalia's singing and the approach of the red Luxere as she tried to ease the poor creature's suffering, Ronin was utterly oblivious to the arrow-mad Ascended taking aim. He had been on the receiving end of one of Wessex's arrows before, but her aim had been a lot better last time. In that she hadn't hit him. Flinching and staggering back a step or two, Ronin grunted in pain and hissed a curse through his teeth. The Luxere was gone and Amalia was left holding its antlers, but understandably the guildmaster had more important things on his mind. Red pattered down onto the snow from a blossoming patch on his arm, the arrow shaft still protruding from it. [say]"Anyone lose an arrow?"[/say] he grated, letting out a long breath and leaning down to examine the damage. RE: Turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime - Wessex - 01-31-2019
