She's not wrong, but her words only help because she is the one saying them, and even then...Jaw tensing, Remi looks toward the ceiling, his eyes searching there for a moment as if the answer to do I say it? might be hidden at the top of her cupboards. You didn't go jumping into trouble tonight, and here we are. [say]'Okay.'[/say]
It isn't, and they both know it, but they also know each other well enough that Isla doesn't need Remi's words of caution, just as he doesn't need her promises she'd be careful. [say]'I love you, Isla.'[/say] That, too, didn't need to be said. But Remi would never stop saying it.
The night stretches out uneventfully, with Remi ensuring Isla knew every ability he had that she could draw from. Neither sleep, but it's easy enough to while away the hours on her couch, each reading, or sketching, or just staring off into the distance lost in companionable silence.
