To the Captain and the Honeybee - Sunjata - 07-10-2021

Two letters arrive at the Port for when the Ark returns, one addressed to Jack and one addressed to Melita.

The letter to Melita is as follows:

Melita —

I’ve stepped down as Governor and Nate, Kamaria, and I are planning to leave Torchline. We want to make the most of the time before the war without having to deal with the rest of everything going on. I have let too many things catch my attention and weigh on me when it should have only been my family all along.

We might still be here when you return from your trip. If not, and if you would still like to see us, we can make arrangements. If not, I understand. I just wanted to let you know.

— Sunjata

The second letter is addressed to Jack:

Captain —

By now I’m sure you’ve heard I’ve stepped down. Safrin has named her replacements for my place. You probably don’t want to hear from me at the moment but, I know I owe you favors and those are one of the things I still intend to follow through with if ever you should need a dragon on your side.

We’re moving to King’s End to allow Nate and I to spend time with our family before war starts. We intend to give you the location once we’ve finally settled.

Sunjata,

We'll talk soon.

(Not shown: crumpled pieces of paper, strikethroughs throughout, angry and frustrated lines cast over edges and fringes. Instead, what is displayed is a smoothed out paper that had been read over and over again, and still doesn’t properly convey everything; or anything. She’ll save that for a mulish moment.)

I just got home.

I can meet with you. Where are you?
