constant wild - Aurelia - 12-13-2021

The Oerwoud feels cool and refreshing in comparison to the sunny beaches of the Coast. Multi-colored palm leaves blot out the sun and beneath their shaded canopy, a large tiger prowls the jungle.

In her trek, she comes across many of the small creatures that make their home in the undergrowth. From humming treeflits to the big beetles they hunt, to tailless whip scorpions - which are a peculiar creature indeed. She paws at a cluster of modilu flies as they flutter around her in varying shades of white, luscious golds, warm shades of orange.

It's only when she catches the strong, distinct scent of another predator that a soft growl rumbles deep within her chest, and she lowers herself deeper within the greenery (which isn't always green; some of the plants are deep shades of purple or blue)... But rather than stray from the direction, she investigates it.

Is she the one being hunted? Had she not been careful enough? Her ears swivel in all directions, trying to pinpoint any offending sounds; the snap of a twig, rustling of leaves. Breath, even.

There! A spotted coat slips through a gap in the leafy brush. But it's not heading in her direction, as it stalks slowly toward... something else. Trying to follow its predatory eye, she spots something. Antelope? Another big cat? She can't quite tell from the angle and the way it's obscured.

[say]Hello,[/say] Her voice opens up within an Attuned bond, bold and curious. Maybe she's not the only shifted out here. Or maybe she'll feel silly when there's no reply.

RE: constant wild - Noah - 01-11-2022

This place was too curious for Noah not to investigate. He moved through the forest as stealthily as he could, with his bow ready and arrow nocked. He was sure this jungle was just as dangerous as the rest of the wilds, but without his ability to call on the senses of his shift, he needed to be extra careful.

Despite how he moved, and how careful he was, the Sentinel still managed to be hunted.

He didn't hear it at all, wasn't able to pick up on the scent. The only thing that made him turn around was the attuned pull in his mind. A simple call, a greeting. Lifting his head, Noah turned to locate the approaching attuned, but was instead met with a jaguar. A jaguar pouncing right on him. Instinctively, Noah let out a scream as the big cat landed on him and sent him crashing to the forest floor. Jaws snapped near his head and Noah kept his bow between him and his assailant.

He didn't have time to shift, and a fight in this humidity and heat in his polar bear skin would go poorly.

There isn't a response, and for a moment she does feel silly - until the sound of a man's scream and the snarl of a jaguar sends a pulse of fear through the surrounding jungle. Birds and small mammals scatter, fleeing outward from the source of violence.

Aurelia has to watch her paws as they swarm past her in a hasty escape. Pushing past them, her body shoves forward through the undergrowth. Branches snap and leaves swish noisily in her wake as she charges, her own snarl pulling back her lips.

She emerges from the brush with her forepaws extended, launching herself upon the jaguar - vaguely noticing the prone man beneath it. For a split second, they might make some form of eye contact.

Suddenly and forcefully, her limbs are shoving the jaguar away, off of the man. She postures before him in a protective display. Nose wrinkled, she growls at the predator before swinging her paws through the air. If it wants to eat this guy, it'll be a fight.
