LIAT FUX - Court Official - 07-01-2022

Bunting hangs in strange and disorganised loops throughout the swamp, its faded colours spilling onto the muddy shores and out into the water. And the music that warbles is kind of... weird, admittedly, like something the Fae would play if it were wildly out of tune. And the food? It's... questionable at best, but perhaps someone can do something to fix that. All in all, it looks like the Festival of Lights was left out to rot in the Feverlands (and maybe it was) and has been resurrected for Flowerbirth.

Among the proceedings, a large and jaunty sign has been hammered into the mud, decorated with rose mallow and swamp azalea:

FLIAT LFUX

Evidently, the original festival's bad reputation precedes itself. But with a number of stalls offering games and children already splashing through the swampy water, it won't stop everyone.

And, interestingly enough, someone has set up a table of seeds and saplings, both water dwelling and otherwise, encouraging visitors to take them away to plant elsewhere.

Welcome to the absolutely definitely different Flowerbirth festival of LIAT FUX! You must post at least twice in this SWE for it to count for MP, levelling and the Seasonal Event. Don't forget to bring some food for the table, and to take away a seed or sapling!

RE: LIAT FUX - Sah - 07-15-2022

Sah arrives to the festivities and is instantly on edge with how empty the space is at the moment. He's not even really sure what the festival is for but as he walks around with Lilly, the flora vendor catches his eye. Walking over, the Outlander notices some of the plants are labeled with their names and preferred planting conditions.

Lilly sniffs the plants at his feet as he combs through the ones on the table, trying to find a plant or seedling suitable for Halo. He finally settles on a packet of seeds claiming to be for some variety of arctic wildflower. Raising a brow at the name, the Outlander realizes he's better off not even trying to pronounce it.

With a nod to the vendor, Sah and Lilly make their way out of the grounds to plant their seeds at home.

[say]~
Sah arrives with Lilly and after picking up some seeds for arctic flowers, leaves. [/say]

RE: LIAT FUX - Cordelia - 07-19-2022

They haven't ventured outside of Halo much since the break of Flowerbirth, but now was as good of a time as any. There might have been a rat problem to deal with on the outskirts of the festival and they would absolutely get to that, but first Cordelia wanted to take a moment with Noah to wander the area. She holds on to his hand, smiling up at him softly as she leans into side side, strolling between the stalls. [say]"Let's see if we can find something to grow in the greenhouse. I'd love to have a patch of flowers to get clippings from."[/say] She desperately wishes for more green in their lives and this was the perfect chance to get some.

She stops at a stall selling different wildflower seeds, scanning over the different packs eagerly, grabbing one to show Noah. [say]"What do you think of these?"[/say] The Shrike asks, glancing up towards the Sentinel and offering him the packet to see.

Only when they make a decision does she make a trade, tucking the seeds away for later and pulling Noah along towards where they're meant to meet Deimos.

Cordelia comes with Noah and gets a packet of wildflower seeds to plant in the greenhouse of Halo before leaving to meet the rest of the Monster Hunters.

RE: LIAT FUX - Noah - 07-19-2022

With the Shrike at his side, the Sentinel walked about the festival. His steps were careful and his glacier eyes moved around, inspecting everything he could. His generally trusting nature was being tested every day. He was becoming more and more like the rest of those in Halo: distrusting of most things that weren't them or theirs. It was not a spot he had ever really wanted to be in his life, but it was an inevitable part of being in a larger role in the larger world. He was no longer just a wandering hunter providing for the people of his frozen home. He was a Sentinel to all those that opposed the Voice.

[say]"Those look delightful."[/say] He said. He tugged on her hand after she bartered her way to owning the flower seeds, [say]"We should leave some of this sweet bread you've made."[/say] He gestured at the table sprawling with food that others brought along to offer out to other souls. [say]"Then we can meet Deimos."[/say]

RE: LIAT FUX - Cordelia - 07-19-2022

Cordelia knew that his new position weighed heavily on him. That he wasn't the same man that she'd met before, but he was still Noah. Underneath all of that wariness and unease he was still there. It was clear in these little moments. Cordelia glances up at him with a soft smile, tucking into his side as they walk towards the table filled with food, only drawing away from him to pull out the pack of sweet rolls she brought with her. [say]"I'll go put it on the table."[/say] She murmurs, carefully unwrapping the wax paper from around the iced buns, placing them on the table among the other goodies that have been left for the souls.

[say]"There... Let's go before he comes looking for us."[/say] Cordelia takes his hand once more, drawing him back towards the edge of the festival, keeping an eye out for Deimos.

Cordelia drops off her sweet rolls with Noah and leaves!

RE: LIAT FUX - Lena - 07-20-2022

Lena had no experience in prior Fiat Lux festivals, so these notions, while otherworldly in their effects, might not have bothered her as much as those previously traumatized. The bunting looked strange and some proportions looked eerily familiar to the world of lights from the prior autumn, but not one to complain about décor, she stepped forth into the world of games and…swamp water, carefully placing portions of the vanilla and cinnamon braided bread she’d made some days prior upon a table.

Distracted immediately by the other table, the Caretaker sidled up closer to the contents, gazing down at the seeds and saplings arranged, uncertain which to pick and choose, already forming the idea of planting them amidst the Celestine.

RE: LIAT FUX - Melita - 07-21-2022

Melita’s last foray into the swamps had been for the Festival of Lights, and despite how she’d been able to see her friends and family, the apprehension of Fiat Lux, or Liat Fux, still remained after all those years. With trepidation immersed into her movements, cautious and forbearing, the youth held the food she’d brought tightly in her bag, suspiciously glancing back and forth with narrowed eyes and the keen sense that something might unfurl from the grounds.

When it didn’t, she and her companions carried on, looking for any familiar faces.

She did happen to spot Sah, and having not been able to harass him in several seasons, the Honeybee lost her dread and tension for the notions of being a nuisance. Waving, she extended greetings with a loud, raucous [say]“Hello!” [/say]over the din to the Halovian, before beelining over. [say]“What’re you looking at?”[/say]

RE: LIAT FUX - Ronin - 07-21-2022

[say]"Liat Fux, huh,"[/say] Ronin drawls as they walk past the sign, sceptical to say the least. Heaving a sigh, at least he supposes people have heard the tragedy from the festival within the Grounds, and are doing their best to move past it. With his arm around Remi's waist and a basket of cheese muffins in his other hand, the Huntsman is pleasantly surprised by how slimy this isn't. He hadn't really known what to expect from the Feverlands, honestly.

[say]"Oh look - they're selling seeds,"[/say] he murmurs as he leads them towards a table laden with food. Setting down his basket, Ronin swats at a dragonfly as it tries to collide with the side of his head, and turns to give the seed stall more attention. [say]"Saplings, too. You think Mateo would like some?"[/say]

RE: LIAT FUX - Remi - 07-21-2022

[say]'Mmmm.'[/say] Jaw feathering, it's with a tense stare that Remi surveys the area as if expecting misfortune and disaster to be looming around every misshapen tree. Not finding the sign at all amusing, he walks in terse silence at Ronin's side, his muscles stiff beneath his husband's hand.

[say]"Probably."[/say] He murmurs, distracted. Setting down one of his candy-gin bowls hard enough to crack the delicate construction, Remi hardly notices what he's done for the wary way his eyes keep shifting about. [say]"Whatever you think he will like. We can grab some extra too.."[/say] Though he wants to shift, Remi instead takes a deep breath and tries not to think of collapsed temples and spears of ice amidst roses of blood.

RE: LIAT FUX - Ronin - 07-21-2022

[say]"Oops,"[/say] Ronin says softly as he watches one of the candy bowls crack, though his husband isn't paying attention. Not having been in attendance at the actual festival (or the raw, horrific events that followed), he is able to be the stronger of the two of them today. And so with their burdens gone, he devotes his full attention to Remi, guiding him over to the stall with the seeds and saplings.

[say]"Extras as well, then,"[/say] he agrees. Trading for a pack of flower seeds for himself, a small sapling for Remi and something that looks like it wants to be fungus for Mateo, it's all over and done with remarkably quickly. [say]"There. We brought a snack, we got a souvenir. No one can say we weren't in attendance - let's go."[/say]

RE: LIAT FUX - Remi - 07-21-2022

He's all but been holding his breath this entire time. There could be a thousand ascended in attendance and still Remi's eyes would be on the treeline, looking for monsters, looking for Loren, looking for Aoife. Only as Ronin's voice seems to filter in through the static does he come back to himself, blinking and then looking down at the seed packets with a confused sort of appreciation.

[say]"I am sorry."[/say] He murmurs; the apology is a blanket one for both things done and not done. Running his palm up the side of one cheek, Remi closes his eyes before giving his head a weary shake. [say]"I will make it up to you, but far, far away from here."[/say] He vows, reaching for one of Ronin's hands and bringing it to his lips where he might kiss each of the Huntsman's knuckles. It's easier to endure this place and what it means, altered sign or not, with the blue of Ronin's eyes filling his vision.

It will be easier still, back in Stormbreak or the Greatwood, tangled up in their sheets.

R&R out!

RE: LIAT FUX - Hadama - 07-21-2022

The mermanta made his return to the Feverlands without the companion he had shared the Leafchange journey with. It was a sober Hadama who swam up to the coastal edge of the recycled celebratory space and looked over the worse-for-wear decorations and food with solemn green eyes.

But the interestingly-spelled sign looked new, at least?

A few familiar faces stood out from the subdued gathering as he swam along the shoreline, investigating what was near at hand. He nodded silent greeting to Remi and Ronin, and relaxed a little at seeing Melita scampering off to greet a friend.

But it was the table of greenery and the young woman standing there that drew him over to join her. "Hello, Lena," he greeted quietly, untying the waterproof bag that he had brought all the way from Torchline and setting it up on shore. "Could you take these to the food table, please?"

RE: LIAT FUX - Talyson - 07-21-2022

Delivering proper food to the celebration was totally part of a courier's job, right?

Right.

Tal strolled into the party with a basket on one arm and a dragon that was brown from her claws to her belly, having clearly gone for a romp in a deep mud puddle on the way in. His pale eyes were bright, his step was jaunty, and as he headed for the snack table to deposit his goods--

He saw Melita, red haired and fierce, bouncing her way towards none other than Sah.

The basket hit the table with a thump as the courier scowled, good mood vanished. Boreal looked curiously from the young man to the other young people and then rolled her eyes expressively, letting out a belch of smoke to make her opinions on the matter clear. "Oh, stuff it," Tal muttered back, slouching towards the seed table to poke grumpily at the plants there and stealing surreptitious glances towards the others all the while.

RE: LIAT FUX - Deimos - 07-21-2022

Trepidation over any Flowerbirth festival had already started once they set foot on the journey – but perhaps, knowing there’d be a hunt thereafter, something else to pull his apprehension into and unleash in vehemence and violence, would ensure he didn’t find every moment spent there suspicious. Adorned with an ivy crown instead of their makeshift flower and petal ones of before, he carried their basket of goodies, leaving a paltry amount on the table, before casting his glance elsewhere.

And then there was Talyson – grumpy at the plant area.

Arching a brow at Evie, and then striding over to the youth, he snagged at a cookie he’d already pocketed and started munching, swallowing before purposefully announcing himself via a quiet rumble. [say]“What are you pouting about now?”[/say]
