Another day of wandering, and careful guidance from others, ensured Lena’s ventures throughout the Greatwood would hardly be in vain. Already she’d acquired the branch necessary for her desired healing staff, snagged at some peppermint bark along the trails, and then – lo and behold, this wonderful place opened up before her eyes.
Driven by curiosity alone, she’d clung to the sides of the Stone Symphony along its interloping banks, until the grove and estuary unfurled – gleaming with wildlife. Besotted and enamored by the streamline of birds lingering upon the embankment, long, gangly legs ensuring they’d found safe shores, the Caretaker opted to find a safe space to sit, watch, and observe.
Perhaps easier said than done, considering all the slippery stones and wet timber. Shoving her basket higher along her shoulder, the youth scampered along the top of one boulder overlooking longer grass and unguarded waves; a mixture of waters that implored her to see just what lurked along the surface and beyond. From there, she very contentedly snagged an apple, and her notebook, and began sketching out a fish in a nearby pool.
