catch a falling star, and - Random Event - 10-17-2023

It is a well-known fact that even the stars do not shine during Longnight, which is what makes the phenomenon roaring through Caido's atmosphere so uniquely unexpected. In the yawning silence of the cosmos, two points of indigo scream towards a continent growing ever closer, until landfall is imminent.

The meteorites aren't large enough to pose much of a real danger to King's End - not unless one decides to stand directly beneath them, anyway - but they do make quite a racket as they impact, churning up the earth into two shallow craters some 60ft across each. Should anyone come to investigate, they will find the land still smoking, the dirt still hot, and a faint smell of violets hanging in the air.

Of the meteorites themselves, though, there is curiously nothing left of them.

Two meteorites have crash landed in King's End! Should your characters be close enough to visit, feel free to do so! If not, characters all over Caido will have been able to see the two points of light before they hit the ground.

RE: catch a falling star, and - Sunjata - 10-17-2023

Oh, he sees the light from the through the thin curtains of the House of Midnight, and if that hadn’t been enough the conversation and surprise of everyone else within the building’s sparks a quiet panic that has Sunjata immediately on edge. Not only that, but the sudden flashbacks of the monsters of the Grounds comes to mind, but he pushes them back in order to investigate. The monsters were gone now, right?

Luckily he’s close enough to get outside and see where it lands, leaving Petronella in the safety of his room, telling those within the brothel that he’ll investigate to put them at ease. He shifts to his dragon shift, soaring through the dark sky until he finds one of the craters, landing and remaining in shift as he explores it, unsure what exactly he’s walking into but wanting to be prepared regardless.

So he investigates, steel eyes scanning the first crater he encounters, silent and watchful for any movement or anything within.

RE: catch a falling star, and - Sunjata - 10-18-2023

Absolutely fucking not. He hates everything about this – the way that despite the plates that cover his skin from his dragon shift the way it still seems to feel sharp and stifling, the way that discomfort weighs heavily on the figurative hairs on his neck. Everything about this screams bad, but who is he if not a King of Bad Decision making?

The dragon bypasses the first crater to look to the second one, trying to spot something, anything, and when he comes up empty (due to there being nothing there or his own inability to see it), he prompts through the Attuned bond, unsure if it would even work, to utter a quiet and accented [say]hello? Is there anybody here?[/say] while his body still stays in that poised tension of fight or flight.
