For many, they are woken from deep slumber to see the moon appear in the sky. Aviya, however, has been awake for a while. Restless as she has been since the abandoned were welcomed into her city, tonight is not different. In a long, black silken robe she paced back and forth in her apartment, arms crossed over her chest as her mind whirled with experiments.
Then, there was a light. Stepping out onto her balcony, she splayed dark-painted fingers over the railing and lifted her bright blue eyes to the sky. There, sitting next to the moon she knew so well, was a stranger. Where dread filled the hearts of many, the daughter of night’s face broke over in a smile, and she laughed.
This was going to be interesting.
