[RQ] [SE] But wait—there’s myrrh - Deimos - 05-28-2024

He wasn’t certain either of them wanted to be here, but given circumstances and necessities, the landscape of Stormbreak had its own undertakings pulling at their succinct missions. Potentially for gifts, and regional quests all in one, the City Area loomed and unfolded before them in a mass and swell of people – but his nose wrinkled just the same. The stones had their legends, and the region was now run by a woman who could strike them all down within an instant – or two, in some cases.

His jaw was lined with tension, as were his long strides as they parted through waves of inhabitants – who seemed either unbothered, unaware, or ignorant of the happenstances surrounding them. The cage in his grasp bore the unrelenting angles of his restlessness, grip tightening and unwinding as they meandered on, his eyes narrowed in suspicious aspects as he glanced at various kiosks. [say]“What do you want to do first?”[/say] Hunting, shopping, or finding something unbreakable? Discussing Maea’s poor choices? Pondering over engagements?

RE: [RQ] [SE] But wait—there’s myrrh - Kiada - 05-30-2024

Kiada didn’t entirely mind Stormbreak, but given the circumstances of recent events, Kiada’s more than willing to help him to make it easier (and in turn, snatch that gift she’s been meaning to get for Fox, especially now given that he’d given her the best gift). Despite it not being Halo’s temperatures, the Harpy is quite comfortable in her jacket despite the cold temperatures outside, and noticing the tension that Deimos harbors, she loops her arm in with his to try and alleviate some of it. “[say]I still need to find something for seasickness… Or motion sickness, maybe?[/say]” She muses the alternatives – wondering what the difference was between them or if it were simply just a turn of phrase that made them different, before sighing a little wistfully.

“[say]Maybe the kiosk down the way with the little boats outside of it will be promising?[/say]” Or maybe it’s just a shop that sold ships in bottles and had absolutely nothing to do with seafaring life? Sighing at the thought, she instead flashes Deimos a small smile to see what he thought.

RE: [RQ] [SE] But wait—there’s myrrh - Deimos - 05-30-2024

Kiada was a grounding fixture, though he didn’t want to rely on her for such measures. A long sigh flowed through his chest again, gaze sweeping over the kiosks, landing and pinpointing on the boat one she’d described. [say]“We can try it. I still need to find quite a few things.”[/say] But perhaps it would lend and blend ideas, or he could make an easier purchase. For gifts, he liked to make his own, but for other notions he wouldn’t mind something else rendered for once.

Striving to keep his mind occupied and away from the visuals currently bombarding his cranium, his narrowed eyes continued winding along as their steps narrowed to portions of the bustled crowd, and he steered them toward a sidewalk. [say]“Did the Grounds start something new? Danta mentioned a portal to the Climb,”[/say] during the aforementioned meeting – in between pretenses and farces.

RE: [RQ] [SE] But wait—there’s myrrh - Kiada - 06-01-2024

“[say]Sure![/say]” Kiada chimes relatively chipperly to the dour mood that the Sword is in. Not that she blames him, after what happened at the Ball and where they’re at, but she’s content enough to play the part to not attract attention – more than they need. She’s steered to the sidewalk and goes easily, keeping her arm in his until they’re nearly to the shop when she answers him.

Nodding in confirmation first, she glances up at him with a smile. “[say]Yeah. We’re gonna make it so we can get there immediately if we need to which should be good if any of us are trying to turn to stone.[/say]” Or to evacuate, she supposes, though she hopes the Inner Quarter will remain safe from the void in general.

They’re right out front of that shop with the boats, though, and the merchant looks at them with a wide smile and a certain friendliness that has Kia wondering if he’s ever been a sailor before with how chipper he is. And she makes quick work of stepping closer to ask if he has anything or may know of anything that may help motion sickness while traveling. And after some humming and hawing, decides on a mixture of things. And soon Kiada’s met with a container of ginger tea and a few little leather bracelets with gems adorning the inside for certain pressure points that may help alleviate it, and with glee Kiada happily pays to take them off of his hands.

Turning back to Deimos she flashes a bright grin of excitement before tilting her head. “[say]What is it you needed to find? Something… Unbreakable?[/say]”

RE: [RQ] [SE] But wait—there’s myrrh - Deimos - 06-01-2024

Try as he might, Deimos had never blended in well, and he appreciated Kiada’s efforts as they meandered through the lengths of people and over to the shop. Listening, and nodding at the respects of the latest venture within the Grounds, he imparted some information upon their own sojourns. [say]“We are going to try and have the springs be able to heal anyone with the void infection.”[/say] The ramparts of yesteryears – multiple sicknesses – and the present left them with choices of mending, intending to lend aid to anyone with infested with the illness.

And then there were boats and wheeling and dealing, and the Sword hung back as Kiada discussed barters and abilities with the merchant. His gaze swept over the surroundings, then back to the wares, over wooden portions meant for ships and sails cast into bags, and by the time the Harpy returned to his side he had some idea for what he’d like to find, or create, in its stead. [say]“Yes. Or make it myself. I was wondering if they had any of those indestructible books.”[/say] The kind where the paper couldn’t be shred or mauled; figuring it’d be good for Erebos when he eventually started to read, or multiple copies could be worth something as journals for the guild.

RE: [RQ] [SE] But wait—there’s myrrh - Kiada - 06-01-2024

“[say]Ooh! That sounds like a really good idea.[/say]” She chimes, flashing him a bright smile at the idea of it – wondering if perhaps they could consider something like that for the Grounds as well – a thought that she files away for later to consider with Danta. Either way, with that tidbit in mind, she focuses on seeking out the perfect gift for her fiancé, and is quite delighted when she ends up with a variety of things that are worth a try.

Bundling it in a bag that she loops around her arm, she sidles up back to his side and tilts her head as she considers what he’s suggesting. “[say]Hm, the bookstore we passed on the way here might have something like it?[/say]” She asks, gesturing to the one down the street they’d walked around the crowds to get past to get to the very store they stand in front of now. But she waits for him to take the lead, before she loops her free arm back into his and flashes a conspirators smile up at him. “[say]I have news, by the way.[/say]”

RE: [RQ] [SE] But wait—there’s myrrh - Deimos - 06-02-2024

Hopefully, once the project was finished, any individual would be able to access it. Ancients infected would be a different saga to trifle with, but they had some means and attempts already tried and true that could be implemented and improvised. A steady plan, regardless, had set him better to rights after all the incidents, and his mind could be occupied by potential notions and gifts, rather than on the unsettling quandaries of Stormbreak, and recent meetings.

[say]“Sure,”[/say] came along in agreement, gaze glancing towards the sign in the near expanse. Arms linked, he easily traversed and parted his way through the crowd, his size granting them some access as people hurried out of the way or simply stared. Trying to ignore them, his brow arched at the sentiments extended, a long sigh beginning to cluster, his mind hoping it was on recent engagements (perhaps Fox had gone through with it already), and not something else rankling through the world. [say]“Is it good news?”[/say]

RE: [RQ] [SE] But wait—there’s myrrh - Kiada - 06-02-2024

Her suggestion is met with another agreement and she flashes him a charmingly fanged smile as she walks along with him back the way they came, utilizing his much bigger stature to get the crowd to part to make room for them. And it works with a lot of ease, ignoring anyone that stares too long either. She hasn’t hid her horns or her tail, and she wonders if the two of them look like they clearly don’t belong with how often someone just keeps their gaze on them.

She doesn’t mind, though, because she’s beaming up at Deimos with a nod, starting to tug the glove off of her hand to chase away the cold but to show the trinket. “[say]Fox asked me to marry him.[/say]” She says softly, her tone full of adoration. “[say]I said yes.[/say]” Her bright blue gaze glimmers with far more happiness than she feels her body is capable of harboring, but she doesn’t complain in the slightest to embrace such a feeling, especially given the worries she'd harbored over herself in the relationship in the past.

RE: [RQ] [SE] But wait—there’s myrrh - Deimos - 06-03-2024

Deimos wasn’t certain if he minded the stares or not – so he opted to ignore them. There’d been plenty when they first arrived from Halo to Stormbreak upon its opening to Abandoned, and still more would follow, based on how things had occurred. Perhaps putting faces to names, or undercurrents of racism still traversed through primordial sentiments.

Instead, his long legs carried them across the sidewalk and along the road, waiting for the news to drop. So when it does, his demeanor altered significantly, from a feigned surprise to a boyish grin, permitting the moment to bolster away the dismal mood. [say]“Congratulations,”[/say] as he folded her against his side, tucking her underneath awnings and away from the rush of a crowd, eventually stopping outside the bookshop, keeping their gossip away from the door and chambers. [say]“He did come to see me at the tournament,”[/say] arching his brow, to indicate he knew some multitudes, unaware the question had long since been asked prior to Fox and him exchanging acceptances and sagacity. Kiada deserved this – the Harpy had been through the multitudes of heartache before too; a vicious cycle of depletion and error. Her happiness and adoration were a buoyant, light thing, and it eased whatever burdens pressed in on his chest. [say]“Have you planned anything yet?”[/say]

RE: [RQ] [SE] But wait—there’s myrrh - Kiada - 06-04-2024

Grinning up at Deimos, the Harpy settles easily as she’s tucked into his side and guided around the walkway, avoiding bumping into people thanks to Deimos’ stature and ability to move crowds – however intentionally or unintentionally it is. “[say]Thank you.[/say]” She murmurs, glancing down to look at the sparkling, simple ring on her finger and feeling that much more love and bewilderment that he had chosen her with such an honor. Something she’s trying to come with terms on believing it to be true.

Squinting up at him in suspicion a few moments later as he speaks again, she chimes a little laugh “[say]did he?[/say]” Though pretending as she does, she knew he would do such a thing, given how in the moment it had been and how Fox had panicked about not asking Deimos before then. But regardless of who knew what and how much, at the end of the day she was happy, and that’s all she cared about.

“[say]Nothing yet. We’ve been busy with the ball and everything going on, so I haven’t had much time. Right now I’m just enjoying showing the ring off to anyone that comes by.[/say]” She sighs a wistful tone before it breaks into a laugh – pure dramatics and happiness that she can’t keep within the confines of her frame.

RE: [RQ] [SE] But wait—there’s myrrh - Deimos - 06-04-2024

His eyes followed the movement of her fingers to the ring, exactly as Fox had described. Amused, distracted, and content for her, his head tilted as he listened to the light laughter and the echoing throngs, avoiding the fleeting moments of the horrendous meeting in lieu of something tangible and substantial. [say]“Understandable,”[/say] he noted with a vague smile, ignoring onlookers as they stared and then continued on, shrugging their shoulders. [say]“Let me know if and when you want some help.”[/say] He had no intention of wandering back to the Grounds anytime soon, but for her he’d put in the effort of not avoiding the rest of the world entirely – as tempting as the thought went. Granting her another smirk, this time riddled with mischief, his nose wrinkled vaguely. [say]“Ru would probably be willing too.”[/say] And Kiada could take that as she wished.

Maneuvering closer to the bookshop door, he opened it to let her roam in first, ideas already consuming his attention and mind, and striving to keep it bundled in one place.

RE: [RQ] [SE] But wait—there’s myrrh - Kiada - 06-08-2024

Grinning despite herself, the Harpy is perhaps the happiest she’s ever been at this particular second, even despite being in a place as unfamiliar as Stormbreak. Content enough once he’s seen the ring to try and slip the glove back on, she succeeds after a moment of difficulty to beam back up at Deimos. “[say]I will![/say]” She chimes despite realizing they haven’t talked about it yet or what it would be like, who would be there and what colors and everything else they wanted.

Feeling a small amount overwhelmed, the subject of Ru helping does alleviate Kiada’s immediate worries, because that is something she has thought about. “[say]I was going to ask her if she wanted to make me my dress.[/say]” She offers up easily, flashing a broader smile with the idea and imagining Hotaru would be more than willing and excited to help in that endeavor.

He opens the door for her and she slinks in, immediately perusing the titles while he delves in to find some of those indestructible papers that he’d mentioned earlier. And maybe she’ll find something worth reading to also bring back home.

RE: [RQ] [SE] But wait—there’s myrrh - Deimos - 06-08-2024

[say]“You know she will say yes,”[/say] he murmured in return, assurance in the pressure; understanding the nuances about being overwhelmed – not just in planning marriages, but in overall stances. One thing at a time had been the best way to manage and strategize, though difficult just the same.

Parting ways only for their persistent searches, he still kept his eye on her with his massive height (the merchant openly stared, then looked away at another customer coming towards the register), as he perused the aisles. While indestructible books were certainly on his mind, that wasn’t the only notion of books that he had, and while circumventing along the rows and columns, he came across a large section on plant life. He immediately turned and tilted his head, reading over various spines.

RE: [RQ] [SE] But wait—there’s myrrh - Kiada - 06-15-2024

Laughing lightly, Kiada nods her head – because she knows Hotaru would definitely agree, but still the option to ask and be declined is in fact there, just in case, even if the Harpy hasn’t thought that far ahead. She trusts Hotaru’s choices in whatever clothing she wore, sure that her aunt would figure out precisely what parts of her to display and which to hide, and the cunningness to include anything that may serve as a warning to any that may wish to harm them.

Either way, her smile is infectious and radiant as she peruses the shop, keeping an eye out for any papers that might serve useful for Deimos when she lands on a particularly intriguing fantasy book, snagging it from its place on the shelf before she slips back over toward Deimos with a raised brow, reading the spines of books that all had to do with plants. “[say]For Evie?[/say]” She asks curiously, her iceberg gaze lifting toward him before back down toward the rows of books.
